Better fighting skills dont necessary equate victory.
Karate Kid vs. Juggernaut, for example. Severely outclassed in everything but fighting skills, KK loses horribly a million times over.
Might as well be the situation here.

In DD's defense there, he even said he was WAY OFF his game. Put DD and Cap in a fight when they've both been training for a few months, and I think the fight would be quite different.

I'm sure he saw it coming. I'm positive of it in fact. But DD even said he was MAD rusty, so he couldn't do anything about it. Seriously, that'll make you suck at anything if you haven't done it in awhile.
It applies to everything. I kick ass at ping pong (for real), but when I haven't played in a few months and then get back into the game, I get beat for a while until I get back into the swing of things.
