I can't agree with that. If one forum is a luxury because of Raz's intentions then the other 'irrelevant' forums must be too.
If this is entirely a movie discussion forum, then all other boards are a luxury.
If it's intended as more than just a movie discussion forum, then there are no luxuries. Tired Hiker's Pad was a luxury, the OTF as a whole is a necessity because the bullshit would only end up elsewhere. The OTFers wouldn't just leave if the OTF was removed, they'd spill over into the other boards. The OTF is necessary for the cleanliness of KMC as a whole.

Yeah, elsewhere as in another forum entirely or other KMC forums, in which case they'd just get blocked and deleted. It's not a necessity either way.

Not at all, by them I mean those who wish to use this site primarily as a social thing, which isn't the primary function of a discussion forum, that's why chatrooms exist. That's why it's a luxury.

Yes it is, because that encompasses general world issues. The GDF as a WHOLE could be divided into maybe a couple of other forums, but the contents of the GDF would always be necessary to any forum. Political discussions, philosophical discussions etc.

Apologies, I read your post again and you did say that the GDF would be a luxury one way and a necessity the other. I still think that the OTF would also be a necessity for an open forum though.
That would be a lot of blocks and deletions. A hell of a lot. People need somewhere to relax and 'hang'. Admittedly you'd think of joining a chatroom first, but the main reason I don't like chatrooms is the complete lack of discipline and respect. Although the OTF here isn't moderated specifically, it is patrolled and we do have loose rules to abide by, which I appreciate.

As far as I am aware, the political and religious forums are still relatively new and weren't accepted as beneficial parts of the forum for a long time. They weren't a necessity when I joined as they didn't even exist and they certainly aren't a necessity now. They are a luxury, I seem to remember Raz stating just that when he allowed them to be opened and even warning people that if they abused this 'luxury', they would be removed.

Then go somewhere else, it doesn't HAVE to be KMC. KMC isn't the centre of all internet interaction as some of you would believe. There are hundreds of more successful forums that allow or I dare say specialise in that sort of social thing.
That's exactly why it proves it's a luxury, the loose rules. You are telling me that loose rules aren't a greater luxury than any other forum on this site that has the same rules applied?

Precisely, but the SUBJECTS themselves are necessities, so they would just be remerged with the GDF if anything.
"OMG YOU GUYS I'M EATING THE BEST POPSICLE!" or "Vinny's lounge" are not necessary to a forum.

Do we not already have a Philosophy forum? Should threads that relate more so to that forum or the Religious forum be moved there? Because there are a few that should be. Also on that note what does the Picture thread represent? Is that not the OTF in the GDF cramped into one thread?
