Actually not too long ago, Gays could be fired from thier job simply for being Gay, as well as denied housing .
The change only occured recently...

IT took Black people DECADES for the Constitutional Rights to be upheld...segregation became illegal a long time ago, yet the practice was STILL very much strong and alive.
Discrimination based on Sexual Orientation IS ILLEGAL, yet its done ALL THE TIME, and very few states in this country actually defend homosexuals to a rightful extant.
