I never took it as such, but you said it in a way that suggested something else. Had you not quoted me and replied to the list, it'd be more relevent.

Well, I guess I wanted to point out that she might very well have meant the 3 things that do not harm anybody else. So, I guess it was even relevant to your post.

I was well aware she may have meant that, but she spoke generally.

She certainly did, didn't she?

But since that was also an option (one you were aware of too), why not state it for everyone to follow?

Probably because you feel you must state everything, even the irrelevent.

As I pointed out it was not so irrelevant at all. For one in response to what you said to WTM, but as well to the original thing...

She was saying Storm is no fun because she hasn't done them (conversely; WTM has.), so I pointed out that it's hardly fun to drive drunk. You pointed out that there were some hardly worthy of being crimes.

That wasn't relevent to what I said, I said it exclusively about that one selection.

What the hell, and I said it exclusively about the other three. And you understood too. You answered by saying that you find alcohol to be pointless.

Others find it to be great fun. Just as many find smoking pot to be fun.

Hmm...and I guess drunk driving is a lot of fun too until something happen...

Man RJ is right, some people blow the smallest sarcastic thing into something huge. When I said what I said I was being a goof and joking. But come on most the stuff on the list isn't even worth talking about because its simple small shit. Tho the drinking and driving isn't something I would ever do again and I don't advise others to try it, just for the record. And Who can base how fun someone is off of a silly little list? It would be shallow thing to do and I don't consider my self that much of a flake.

I don't think that escalated, because of your comment actually.

So then your statement was of itself, not related to mine.

You can't kill another person instantly because you're smoking pot or drinking a beer. You can if you're drunk driving, so to claim someone isn't fun for not doing it is a bit stupid. Unless she wasn't referring to that.

I guess, I quoted you to have some sort of point to enter...

And being reasonable and doing fun things can contradict each other...

You're one of those who just thinks all labels are evil without bothering to think about it, aren't you?

If you're willing to rip off artists just because you have a massive misperception about labels, you're no music fan anyway.

-AC

The only misperception is that you think I'm a fan of music.

You aren't a fan of music, yet you try to lecture me on the history of it, and what genres do and do not exist?

Silly rabbit.

Where have I lectured you on the history of music, and what genres do not exist? Quote me. 😊

Emo no longer means what you want it to mean because so many people use it in a different sense.

Fact is, it still does mean that. So not only are you contesting the history of the term, you're questioning the existence of the true genre.

Anyway, you're not a music fan, why do you care?

Nothing has changed except the genre doesn't exist anymore.

I was going by what you said... I guess that means we shouldn't be going by what you say then, should we? 😕

Also, I never said Emo didn't exist as a genre, in fact I never really touched on that, you only read a bit too much into that line of my post, I was stating that through huge amounts of use 'Emo' has taken on a second meaning/the meaning has changed.

The very original genre is dead. There ARE still bands that make music close enough to that and are considered applicable to the original definition. Just not original.

Second, I know what you stated, and you were wrong. The MEANING is as it always was, but kids attempt to change it and use it themselves. It's not a legitimate definition, it was made up by ignorant journalists who had nothing better to do and now the kids have latched onto its underbelly like some wretched parasite.

Literally, yes, their definitions "exist", but they are not correct, nor are they credible. Being someone who isn't even a fan of music, your position on the subject is highly dubious.

-AC

I see it that way:

Yes, Emo is a music genre, as AC defined. Good. I hope no one denies that. But Emo nowadays also describes a special group of teenagers. Sure it came about because of a misunderstanding or whatever, but it does describe them.

What is wrong is calling bands like Simple Plan or Good Charlotte emo. They aren't they don't fit the musical genre.
