well, lets start with the statistic that the vast majority of min wage full time jobs have no medical benefits. now factor in a kid who needs to be hospitalised (and while your at it, show me a single kid who never had to be hospitalised)

Well, I am more talking about thinkgs that would be solved with a higher minimum wage. Lets face it, if you look at medicine as it is today the lower middle class can hardly afford it. There has to be found a different system, that doesn't mean that to higher minimum wages would do much good. Just how much do you think the minimum wage should be highered? Also, are you under the impression that businesses have an endless supply of money so that they could just afford to double or triple the income of their employees?

i never mentioned doubleing or tripling or even upping it so much as 20%.
and i bring up medical benifits because manditory benifits is the only way i can see a solution to not upping minimum wage. in fact i think it would be a far better solution. but you know what will happen, some universal 'revolutionary' benefits system will then be created to dwarf the disfunctionality of HMO.

I know that's why I asked what you wanted it to raise to.
I am with you on that (in case I understood it right...), I think there needs to be a solution to that problem, I just don't see how it could be upping the minimum wage...some medical treatments would still be unaffordable...

whatever the solution, i cant fathom anyone taking a conservative stance on the issue since its blatant that poverty is on the rise and medical costs are out of control and unchecked. family/health/life, in essense, is a luxury, and not a basic right.(disclaimer: by conservative i dont mean as per political partisanship, but just what the word means)

See the political system is always looking for new recruits. The democrats get support from minorities as a reflective reaction from the GOP [republicans] supporting discrimination.
Now obviously no republican/conservative ANYWHERE will admitt that his or her party is actually holding on to racial beliefs. Democrats on the other hand, are fair and equal to all types of people. You see, most republicans have a theory. That theory is that if you are not white, rich and heterosexual... they're gona have to "think" on what they will do with you.

However there are good republicans. Believe it or not but President Bush is a good hearted republican. As is John McCain. Prez Bush has really bad ideas about war and might not be fit for presidency... but he stands for many racial and social equalities that most republicans will never undertake.
