At any rate, an argument could be made that everyone who argues to convince someone else of their opinion, must think that, at the very least, they are better regarding the topic of discussion, no?

A better way to word that would be, "An argument could be made that anyone who argues to convince another that their opinion is superior, thinks that the other's opinion is inferior."

But that's awkwardly worded, still.

That's a good summary. But Bardock42 stops just short of being an annoying Social Justice Warrior. Notice that he never once said to stop, but only suggested it may not be a good idea. 🙂

And he probably thinks, "You're coming off as an insensitive assh*le who thinks the world should bow down to your right to say whatever the f*ck you want, whenever you want."

True, but he'd be silly to think that, 'cause I don't personally act like that - I act basically the same as he does. Offend or hurt as few people as possible. I just have the humility to not shove my enlightenedness in everyone else's faces.

Also, Spawningpool is 15 - Bardock calling him a lost cause, calling him an ******* and not messaging him directly comes across as moral and intellectual bullying, quite frankly.

That's an odd way to word my perspective. My perspective is better worded as thus, "I get an uncomfortable/creepy vibe from people that go out of their way to get angry, upset, and/or offended by strangers on the internet."

They can be aware of it but not make that consideration when deciding to make the joke. Drawing attention to the notion that someone would get offended by a low-brow joke, is the stuff of captain obvious legends. It wouldn't be a low-brow joke if no one could get upset by it. But not everyone on the internet is a 45 year old, ultra conservative, Christian Liberal. That type of person may not even post on KMC much less in the Members Picture Thread.

Oh, well that's very fair, I agree with that. I just think that a lot of the time people who are genuinely upset get painted into a corner of just doing it for attention or advantages, which I don't think is really true. If someone actually goes out of their way to get offended they obviously have issues and I don't condone that. I'm more concerned with people who really get upset, and get upset for reasons I can completely understand. I think most of those people won't even voice their sadness though.

I'm not sure what the argument is. The offensive joke will hurt the other person the same, whether it comes from an 18 year old liberal or a 45 year old conservative.

I'd love to get into this all properly but I'm on a shitty smartphone with 10% battery so sorry about that

I thought this thread was for showing people what you look like IRL...? 😬

Geez I came in here to get away from GDF and seem's Bardock has his panties twisted here too.

Bardock, do you need Rob to caress your tites?

If you feel enlightened due to your behaviour, why don't you try to convince others that it may be a better way for them?

I said he's a lost cause for now, I won't be able to convince him. He's obviously out to offend. That doesn't mean that he won't change his mind in the future. Nothing would have convinced me of my current position 8 years ago. Really all the holier-than-thou moral judgement that you see in my posts comes from your interpretation.

[edit]Also, I didn't call him an *******, that's a fabrication.

Im outa here.

Then we appear to largely agree. To show that I have made parallel statements, here is a quote of mine from the previous page:

You made a good case for why a mother, who just lost a child, may get upset.

The most offended person in America is a 45 year old, ultra conservative, Christian. They get offended by everything. That was my point with that statement.

Good, good, always nice when that happens.

lol, fair enough, I agree with that.

People need to find their own path in life. What I do works for me, I know this through trial and error and that's the best way for people to learn. Not being spoon fed morality. It doesn't come that easy.

And yeah, you didn't say it directly, but it was obvious what you were implying. I'd show examples but yeah, the phone thing.

That is pretty offensive especially to any who have lost children.

I disagree with both your points.

I accept that you disagree, but I stand by my words.

Very well, then. It seems our part of this conversation has run its course.
