Cut to Mr. Gibbs, who is having a chat with Will as they prepare the ship for a dawn departure from the island.
Will: Mr. Gibbs, precisley where are we going?
Gibbs: Well, Jack tells me of an island just south of Port Royal, run by the Spanish. Apparantly, that's where the Governor Dumas got his start, as you know. There's something there Jack wants.
Will: Why are we always going places so Jack can get what he wants? I think what the crew wants is to be rid of Davy Jones and get back to their lives.
Gibbs: Do they? It seems to me everyone is pretty happy staying on this adventure as long as they can.
Will: I have to get back some time... I'm still Governor.
Gibbs: And what about Kate?
Will: (sharply) What about her?
Gibbs: Well, the crew, me included, have noticed you've taken a fancy to her.
Will: Have I?
Gibbs: Perhaps it was the kiss in the woods that tipped us off.
Will: Oh... that. (pause) Kate is a very charming young woman. But I don't know whether I trust her.
Gibbs: You've been shyin away from the saddle for long enough, boy. Isn't time you stopped being afraid?
Will: (laughing softly) Perhaps.
Gibbs turns to go.
Will: Mr. Gibbs... wait. Thank you. For the advice. (Will smiles, and Gibbs slaps his back.)
Will turns to try and find Kate...
Meanwhile... Jones and DUmas's ship has approached the pearl and hidden itself behind a hill in a bay. Dumas sneaks onto the island and is quickly met by Kate, who was out for a walk.
Dumas: Good evening my dear...
Kate: (in shock) Morgan Dumas! What are you doing here?
Dumas: Looking for you.
Kate: Don't lie to me. You're after Jack and his crew.
Dumas: Perhaps I'm just making sure the Governor is still safe. William Turner. How is he?
Kate: Alive, no thanks to you.
Dumas: Pull your claws in, wench. I mean no harm.
Kate: So its wench, is it, now?
Dumas: (stepping closer) No... no it's not. I don't know how to say this. I've missed you.
Kate: (sighing) that's sweet of you.
Dumas: You've bewitched me, so to speak. I can't stop thinking about you.
Kate: (secretly pleased... he means it) I never meant to make you care so much...
Dumas: Yes you did, waif.
Kate (with a mocking smile) Well I'm sorry! You still haven't told me why you're here.
DUmas: I'll only tell you if you promise not to be mad.
Kate: Very well.
Dumas: I brought Jones.
Kate: Davy Jones? (her voice gets very quiet... with anger) Take me to him at once...

[jack walks out of cabin]
jack. why?why rum is always gone?
[sees alex with a bottle]
jack. who are you and what are you doing with me rum?
alex. name's alex i'm here with abi...
jack. yeah nuf said(snatches bottle out of his hand
liz. jack?(calls from cabin)
jack. (smiles)got to go mate(starts to leave then turns around)and stay away from my rum
Cut back to Jack, who is laying restlessly next to a sleeping Elizabeth, who is wrapped in Jack's coat. He bends to kiss her forhead and smiles, bemused.
Jack: (whispers) I love you, darling.
He stands up and walks away from her, and as he does, he catches a glimpse of Dumas's ship, hiding in the bay.
Jack: Oh bugger.
Cut back to Kate, who is standing on the deck of the ship, facing Davy Jones.
Jones: The infamous Kate. I've heard quite a bit about you.
Kate: And I about you. I understand you're after Jack Sparrow.
Jones: You're right there, Ms. But here's a question for you. What made you leave Dumas here?
Kate: (icily) There never was anything between myself and this man. He is a man of social position and wealth. I am a common girl, a pirate.
Jones: And what is it you want from me, lass?
Kate: I want your word that whatever happens, William Turner won't be harmed.
Jones: Ah... bargaining for the whelp. Have you fallen for him.
Kate: Hardly. I don't know if you remember the stories correctly, Captian, but I have sworn never to marry.
Jones: Well, what do you plan to bargain then? I won't protect Turner for nothing.
Kate: What do you want?
Jones: Here's a bargain lass. If you bring me Jack Sparrow, I will take my vengence and then leave you and the rest of the crew to travel sfaely wherever you please.
Kate: May I have your word on that, sir.
They shake: hand to tentacle. Dumas escorts Kate back to off the ship, and she swims to shore.
She begins to run towards their camp, but runs smack into Jack, who is still staring suspciously at the ship in the bay.
Kate: Jack! What are you doing here?
Jack: I might ask you the same question. I'm wondering what that ship is, and whether they mean us harm.
Kate pauses and bites her lip. Then she steps closer to Jack and puts her hand on his shoulder.
Kate: Jack, don't worry. They're friends of mine... from a past adventure. They mean you no harm
Jack: Really?
Kate: They want to help us... (she leans closer, and whispers this in his ear) they want to help you. When they heard I was here with the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow, they were ecstatic.
Jack: (flattered) I'm flattered.
Kate: Come with me... they would love to meet you.
Jack suddenly realizes how close Kate is to him... and its making him a bit uncomfortable.
Jack: Darling, you know you don't have to seduce me. If you have a favor to ask of me, just ask me. I'm always ready to help a friend.
Kate pulls back, in disbelief. But she's in too deep, now.
