Don't forget they would have possibly been able to convince Zo to stay as well. 😉 Just a little fuel for the fire.

Then again, we can never use the "If only" situation.
Watch:
"If only the Blazers drafted Michael Jordan instead of Sam Bowie."
"If only Sabonis, who in his prime was apparently comparable to Hakeem Olajuwon, played for the Blazers in the early 90's they could have actually beat the Bulls in the finals.
Hell, the Blazers within the last year and a half were offered Vince Carter for Derek Anderson and (I think it was) Darius Miles and then offered Paul Pierce for our #3 pick and salary fillers. Would have been a playoff team rather than 30th place.

That Bowie pick could go down as the worst in NBA history.
Our GM has made a few mistakes but thats the thing about hindsight, we could have drafted Tayshaun Prince but we choose Kareem Rush or we could have drafted Josh Howard and choose Brian Cook. Hopefully the Bynum gamble will pay off in a few years time and give us a great center for the future.

Also if the Nets had kept Martin and got Carter they would have a payroll worse than the Knicks and their owner would be paying Stern about 50 mill in luxury taxes.

Exactly my point ✅

ah sabonis🙁 what an awesome player he was even after the injuries. never seen a big man pass th eball so well, and he was one of the first big's to shoot outside really well. one of my all time faves.

Didnt they trade somebody to the Raptors for Rush?

What was that guys name?

you can bring on the 96 bulls and i say this detriot team can beat them, tayshaun prince is the exact replica of pippen, ben could fight rodman for the boards, kerr doesn't stand a chance agains billups...the only problem is jordan, he would still get his points, but detroit's defense would be able to shut down all the role players, and rotate fast enough where the bull's offense wouldnt be as good as it usually was....but of course this is all hypothetcial

i dunno... i think pippen has the edge of prince. even though hes shorter than tayshaun hes got a bit more strength and ability. i wouldnt like to imagine rodman against wallace... scarey! jordan would have his way against anyone... and billups would have a tougher time against ron harper, who was the main pointgaurd for the bulls. would have been a heck of a series!
one thing that mite give detroit the edge is rasheed. hes one of the best players in the nba in my opinion. great inside game, can shoot the long two and the three with ease, great rebounder, great defensive player.

Yeah, I would never say Prince is an exact replica of Pippen.

Anyway, poor Uncle Cliffy. I've always liked you, so stay off the GOD-DAMNED DRUGS!

any idea as to what drugs he was using? are they sports enhancing or a different drug?

clifford robinson of the nets???? since when has he been using drugs???? i dont c how they will improve his performance at this age, all he does is shoot open jumpers off pick and pops from vince, j-kidd, and jefferson.

They traded Rush to the Bobcats for a couple of 2nd round picks, but Rush got waived by the Bobcats and he looks like he might be back for us next year. He can flat out shoot and he knows the triangle offense but thats about it.

wuTa, put the pipe down man. Pippen would house Prince. Pippen was a great post player in those years with the Bulls and was also the player that set everyone else up. He wasnt a big time scorer like most of Princes covers and he moved really well without the ball and knew where to get his shots in the offence. Dont get me wrong Prince is the 2nd best perimeter defender behind Ron imo, but most of his assignments are against scorers. Pippen didnt have to score alot to hurt you, he knew the offense inside out and could pick you apart with his passing alone.
It'd be a great matchup though and out of any current teams in the NBA i think the Pistons would give those Bulls the toughest matchup. But in the end we are talking about one of the top 3 teams ever assembled, i think Detroit would come up a little short.

Heat against the Nets is on soon over here (our game of the week). I wonder which Heat team is gonna show up, i have a feeling Shaq's gonna be bothered by fouls again being on the road and all.

What a bad job of coaching by Dunleavy in this game. Not having the right personnel down the stretch and not getting the ball to the right players, trying to run and gun with the Suns instead of slowing it down, at least the Lakers were smart enough to do that.

I remember when Dunleavy was the coach for that old talented Blazers team and one of my favorites btw when they had...
Terry Porter
Clyde 'the glyde' Drexler
Cliff Robinson (can't believe he's still playin!) - I guess now we know why? 😉
Jerome Kersey
and Kevin Duckworth - 😆 Oh well i guess 4 out 5 wasn't bad

Anyway, my point is Dunleavy's always been a loser, if he couldn't win with that team, he most likely wont win with this one either, just like P.J. Carlesimo, Alvin Gentry, Del Harris, most of these guys have taken a step down to assistant coaches and I think Dunleavy should do the same. Some guys have what it takes to be head coaches and some just don't.

lol @ Duckworth. He was a funny lookin dude.

The Clippers have the personnel to sweep the Suns if they stick to the "pound it inside" gameplan. They also have great shot blocking and reliable outside shooters in Cassell and Mobley. They have a strong bench with Maggette, Vlad and Livingstone, what they dont have is a coach who can execute the gameplan and run the right plays to punish the Suns.

The Nets should have won that game, too many stupid turnovers down the stretch. Carter was nice but he stopped taking it to the rack late in the game (maybe the Heats defense had something to do with that), he crowned Mourning again with a sick dunk (yikes im starting to sound like tanjot, im outta here). scared

Wow. That Portland team you just described was about a decade off from when Dunleavy coached the Blazers (and they lost to teams such as the Pistons and the Bulls in the Finals during those days). Rick Adelman coached those guys (and for your information Duckworth was a 2-time all-star 😉 ).

Dunleavy coached the Blazers to two Conference finals where they lost to the champs (took the 2000 Lakers to game 7 and only lost in the last 2 minutes). He won the Coach of the Year award in 1999 and came in 3rd for this years voting. I don't think it would be very fair to call him a bad coach. His credentials are certainly no worse than his opposing coach, Mike D'Antoni's.

lol. ur starting to sound like me because ur right...vince did have a nice game and the nets should have won that game. the unforced turnovers and idiotic fouls by jack vaune(not sure how to spell his name) were what got them in the end. also nenad krstic had a horrible game, and the nets played without clifford robinson. krstic's horrible shooting game is what surprised me the most, he is automatic from the outside(20 footers) and all of the shot he took against miami were wiiiide open. dwayne wade did not miss any free throws in the fourth and very surprisingly shaq made both of his.

as you have seen throughout this series, the team that loses is always more motivated than the other to win the next game...you should agree or be pretty sure that the nets will surely win game 4. i highly doubt miami will win both games on the road and 3 in a row against the nets. if i am wrong and the heat win game 4, its over for the nets...they will have lost all momentum and begin to think.."we just cannot beat miami in the playoffs", which they can.

1st off..its not my pipe, it's cliff robinson's 😮‍💨 ...2nd, maybe i should have said prince is on track to be the exact replica of pippen, but i still stand by my word, this is only Prince's 3rd or 4th year in the league and has established himself as scorer, and one of the best preimere defenders in the league, just like pippen, but pippen never had to guard a jordan like player, prince has to do it with kobe and lebron and has done it with success, if he can handle those two, i think its safe to say he can handle pippen, and about pippen being stronger, well prince may look like a twig but he is able post up players like lebron, and other players bigger than him with and score, in fact they had to cleveland hand to double prince for this reason last game

I have a duckworth basketball card 😱....and i think its a lot easier said than done when it comes to slowing down the suns, they will let you score just to get the ball and run, slowing down the game is obviously there weakness, but they know that, so they do whatever it takes to speed up the game....I did enjoy the heat game tho, Big Shaq pickpocketed Carter than gave him an elbow....it was a cheapshot, but who's gonna call shaq out, i think the only one crazy enough to do that is Barkley

Go Heat!(That's all I can really say since i didn't see the game) All I know is Wade had 30 points 10 assists, and 7 rebounds, and Vince had 43 points, 3 assists, and 6 rebounds.

wasnt the 2000 finals team the spurs? i thought it was that sean elliot tip toe buzzer beater over sheed that they lost too? damn gutting that was. i know it was one fo those years around there! made me feel sick though

although credit to elliot... he overcame a kidney transplant to get back into the nba.

That was 1999.
Bulls won it in 98 and Spurs followed them the next year. 2000 was Lakers first of 3.

And that Sean Elliot 3 was heart breaking 🙁
Took all the momentum from the Blazers and they decided to just sit back and get annialated.

How was Uncle Cliffy's stash man? 😮‍💨

I agree Prince has all the makings of a Pippen type player and in a few years who knows. Pippen took plenty of tough covers but you're right it was usually the stronger SF's he covered while Jordan took the guards like Dumars, Miller, Clyde, Lewis etc. But i would bet that Pippen guarded Jordan in practice for what its worth.
I like Princes game and he does have a nice post game, but its not really his strength thats his advantage down there its his Inspector Gadget arms that can get off any shot he wants.

Great games today, LeBron with his 2nd triple double of the playoffs and the Mavs just getting by the Spurs. Someone said a while back (it may even have been me) that it was easy for LeBron to get a triple double against the weak defense of the Wizards, now he has shown he is all that and more with one against the toughest defense in the league - incredible.
