Your memory does not serve you correct.

Wrong again. Check this out:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1645777

Check the date. Before the NBA season. Therefore its a little unfair to say:
"[Riley] couldn't even get the heat off the ground in Wades 1st year which is why he stepped down, and gave Van Gundy the job who actually showed Riley up at the position"

and

"Riley's dumbass didnt even play him"

So now with Riley getting the Heat to the Finals for the first time in franchise history, its safe to say Riley showed Stan up 😉

That article proved nothing, and definetly doesn't prove I'm wrong...In Wades 1st year, Riley coached the 1st 13-18 games for the heat, around that ballpark...he didn't even start Wade, and when he was coaching him in that year The Heat were on track to be the worst team in the NBA, until he finally realized, that it would be better for the team if they had a fresh start(and it took him like two or 3 years to realize this, because the Heat were shit in the previous years with him coaching them), with a new coach, enter Van Gundy, he insterts Wade into the starting lineup, gives him more minutes, is able to coach a roster of underachievers in the playoffs(showing up Riley in the process), and in the meantime Wade becomes a premier player in the league, the next year, The Heat get better with Rileys help (as president) by getting Shaq, and Van Gundy takes them one game away short of the Finals, and this year Riley makes more deals, and thinks of it more as his team, Like Riley said "I'm going to manage the team that I built, like Contrary to what people think, I'm 18 feet from that court. I'll be out there every morning at 9:30, sitting and watching. I will not interfere. I'll try not to."

Well he did interefer, him and his greased up ego....he knew he had a chance of coaching the Heat back to the Finals now that he has two superstars, and and a solid supporting cast, so instead of just stepping aside and letting Van Gundy coach what was what Riley already considered "his team", Riley has to push Van Gundy out of the coaching job to show Van Gundy up, but how did he show up Van Gundy when Van Gundy did more with less on two seperate occasions?......There were rumors all offseason, and at the beginning of the year that Riley was gonna push his way into Van Gundy's job because Riley and his ego want to be the ones to coach to the heat to a championship, but i didn't believe them because I thought Riley was too classy to pull rank on some bullshit like that, I was wrong

Thats pretty amazing that Riley coached 13-18 games for the Heat before the NBA season started. I am quite shocked in fact. Wow! I guess that date that I told you to look at meant nothing to you. Let me help you out:

http://www.lasvegassportsbetting.biz/miami-heat-2003-schedule.htm

What you will see here is that the Miami Heat's first game in the 2003-2004 season (Wade's 1st year) was on October 28, 2003. Pat Riley, stepped down for Stan Van Gundy to take over three days earlier on October 25, 2003.

Now if you are referring to the pre-season....
as we discover every year, preseason doesn't mean shit.
But if you think it does anyway, Wade played 6 preseason games under Pat. Here is how little Riley utilized Wade in Wade's FIRST preseason game:
http://www.nba.com/games/20031007/PHIMIA/boxscore.html
Riley apparently played him only 35 minutes (as a starter). THAT BASTARD!
Riley's Heat went 5-1 in those 6 games.
Just as a note, Wade played only 7 minutes in the Heat's win against the Pistons because Wade got hurt. Wade did not play in the 7th game of the preseason as safety.

If you want to look up more of Wade's preseason games, you can check here, but don't forget its only preseason anyway:

So again, it would be incorrect for you to claim that "[Riley] couldn't even get the heat off the ground in Wades 1st year which is why he stepped down" and "Riley's dumbass didnt even play him". So if you have a personal problem with Riley or think he's a bad coach, thats cool. If you think he is an ass for what he did to Stan, thats fine. But Riley has built a championship caliber team and has led them to the NBA Finals and never 'failed to do so with Wade.'

Also for the record, this was the Heat's roster the previous season that you expected Riley to do more with:
Eddie Jones (their best player that year, but only played 47 games)
Caron Butler (2nd year)
Brian Grant (majorly declined Brian Grant)
Malik Allen
Travis Best
Mikes James (2002-03 James, before he became somewhat decent)
Rasual Butler
Eddie House
Vladimir Stepania
LaPhonso Ellis
Sean Lampley
Anthony Carter
Sean Marks
Ken Johnson

Honestly, what was Pat supposed to do with that? He rebuilt pretty well if you ask me.

was'nt lamar odom a member of that team? or did he join a little later? he did play that year i'm sure. at the end of the day, the heat beat the pistons so riley has to be given credit. how can a coach who did well with the lakers and lost some tough series to the mid nineties bulls not be a decent coach? to not learn anything from that period would be madness.

Well thats the pretty much same lineup that Van Gundy had, with the addition of Wade and Odom(and he was actually able to get Odom to furfill his potential), and He did an excellent job coaching them to the playoffs, and that was Riley's team that previous year, He put that Heat team together as Gm/President, so I expect him to coach that team to the best of his abilities(which he didn't)......I already said I don't like Riley for what he did to Van Gundy, I already said He's not the Coach he was in the 80s, and I already gave him credit for Building a Championship team, I said some of these on numerous occasions(which you seemed to ingored) and, even though you like to go online, and type in URLs to show people's Errors, I still say that 1st Url up there does nothing, but prove my point......You can type URL's till the cows come home but its not going to tell the whole story(similar to tanjot and his Vince Carter URLs), but what any of them aren't going to say is that if Riley knew that Wade was going to develop so fast, and be the superstar that he is, than he probaly wouldn't have stepped down in the 1st place.....Riley stepped down, because he was sucking ass as a coach and didnt have the patience to coach a rebuilding team, and he didnt want to deal with what many people thought would be another losing season, nobody expected the heat to do anything Wade's rookie year, not even Riley.....Van Gundy takes over as coach, brings the Heat back to being respectability, and now good players want to come to the Heat, Riley builds a championship caliber team because of this, and pushes Van Gundy out of the Job so he can get the credit for the Heats success, and to help his brused ego after not believing in a Heat team, that Van Gundy did believe in.....Go ahead and find me a URL that says any of that, because thats exactly what happened

All I was really trying to say was that you were wrong about Riley coaching Wade and my URL's DID prove that point of mine. I said you are allowed to have the opinion that Riley is a bad coach, but you can't argue that Riley miscoached Wade in Wade's first season because he WASN'T THE COACH.

And comparing me to Tanjot was a low blow with no validity.

I wasn't aware that in a profession that doesn't involve much physical ability(coaching), when you get more experience and credentials (most playoff games ever coached AND won, 3 or more rings, top 3 finals appearences as a coach), you actually start sucking MORE with age.

So basically your logic is more experience = more sucking. That's a little backwards.

I think Avery with more experience may be able to outcoach Riley at some point, but he isn't at that point yet.

Yea, you got me about Riley and Wade's 1st year, but Riley still quit on that team, that was my main point I was trying to get across...did you like that tanjot comparison?...yea, take that.....no, I'm pretty sure you know i meant nothing by it...like i said, i was just trying to state my case

So I guess when you have 3 rings and good credintials its ok to do whatever you please....like quit on your team, hire someone to take over that team you quit on, than when that persons rights the wrong, you go ahead and take over again ...what the hell is Phill Jackson doing coaching the Lakers, with his Rings and Credintials he should be commissionary of the NBA...look out David Stern

So basically your logic is more experience = more sucking. That's a little backwards.

Oh is that what my logic is? because It looks more like words being put in my mouth....But just because you have more experience than someone don't mean you can outcoach them, Popavich has just as good of credintials as Riley, and two or three Rings as well, and how did that help him when he coached against Avery?

I think Avery with more experience may be able to outcoach Riley at some point, but he isn't at that point yet. [/B]

(see above comment)

Im not even sure i should be venturing into predictions after i got the Heat/Pistons series so wrong. I did pick the Mavs to win though so that makes me feel a bit better about my hoops knowledge.
I want the Mavs to win it all but the Heat are playing so well at the moment i cant see them caving now (barring injuries).
On the coaching debate, Riley definitely has the experience on his side but Avery was a member of a championship team as a player and he was always the coach on the court even in his playing days. He understands the game very well, his switch to put Howard on Nash in game 6 was genius. It completely cancelled out the Nash/Diaw pick and roll, championships can be won and lost on how you adjust in games and Avery is very smart at that.
The matchups are interesting, their are a few players that cant be stopped one on one. Wade, Dirk, Shaq (if its the conference finals version) and maybe Terry if he gets going. I'd like to see Howard guard Wade, i still cant understand why Flip didnt use Prince on Wade (yeah i know that would leave Rip on Walker but Wade needed slowing down alot more that Walker). I think Howard has the best chance of slowing Wade down, Terry and Harris would be lambs to the slaughter. Dallas has some big bodies to throw at Shaq and they are legit 7 footers that can challenge Shaqs shots, but if the Shaq we saw against the Pistons comes to play they will have to double him and that opens the game up for Walker, Posey and Williams.
I just hope for a great series, this has been the most exciting playoffs i've seen for a while (and not just because the Lakers made it back in) and i hope the finals dont disappoint.

Its cool. I think we were each just looking at different things. I was just trying to show the facts of when Riley quit in comparison to Wade's career. I wasn't trying to justify what Riley did to the organization. In fact, I agree that Riley quit with really bad timing (between preseason and season) and screwed Stan.

oh yeah... i was thinking next year of visiting the states, (plus going to toronto to see the raptors) and was thinkin is there a way some of us could meet up? maybe go check out a game even?

I think this post might have gotten over looked in the previous debate. Thought it would be a good time to resurrect.
C'mon guys at least give our boy Royke a response to his question.

Oh yeah, one more thing....
