NBA discussion thread

It was a 1 week 4 game road trip. But still, they should have won against Portland, since they got blown out at home against them. Losing to Seattle twice also annoyed me. Against Phoenix, they ran out of gas at the end, and against LA, they were again winning in the beginning but lost. And Kool, their lack of post presence is what I've been dying to see improve one day. I got excited when Mikki Moore came, but he's not seeming to be much help. C-Rob is injured (knee surgery and out indefinitely), Jason Collins (well, I think I've derailed him enough), and Krstic is becoming a great shooter which I'm happy for, but at the same time, he's drifting further and further away from the basket. And now he says he's shooting 3's in practice. Oh Nenad, say it isn't so. Anyway, Lawrence Frank has moved RJ to the 4 spot in many occasions mainly because of the pititful post.

Oh yeah, Boone's coming back in about 2 weeks, but it's gonna take him some more time to actually get used to the game, and who knows how much further these guys can extent this losing streak of 5?

And if you've seen Vince drive to the hoop recently, you'll notice that he's a lot slower than even when he joined the Nets. And back then, I thought that was slow! He's really sluggish, and his moves are predictable. His stats are great so far, but it's mostly from shooting 3's, and I hate it when he falls in love with 3's.

Yeah, Carter is much more effective when he is driving to the hoop. He tends to fall in love with the outside shot like Kobe sometimes, its very frustrating when you know that they can get a better shot than a pull up 3 off the dribble (unless it goes in of course).
I just think the Nets need to get used to going inside more even if its posting up Carter, RJ or even Kidd (who is a terrific post player) and prepare themselves for the playoffs. The perimeter play is all fine and dandy in the regular season but the Nets should be looking at going deep into the playoffs and they will need more options to do that.

It sickens me right now Kwame Brown is getting more playing time than Bynum.

Kwame has shown me enough improvement to warrant him getting the minutes. Remember Bynum still cant log heavy minutes, he just doesnt have the stamina. Two years ago he was playing 8min quarters at high school and he is still growing into his body, they think he will max out at 7'2 but it could be more. Kwame has been playing very well lately and he should be getting more minutes because he has been through an entire NBA season and can keep up the pace, Bynum on the other hand has shown flashes of what will become the norm but also has shown that he struggles if he logs heavy minutes.
What Laker fans should be hoping for in the future is that Kwame somehow regains his high post face up game that he had in Washington, that would allow Bynum and Kwame to be on the floor at the same time. Odom would play SF and Kobe and Famar in the backcourt, that is by far our best defensive and rebounding team. Kwame can guard the Duncans, KG's, Amare's and Howards of the league and Bynum can do what he does best and come from the weakside to block shots. Kwame has to do this imo because Bynum is our future center and Jerry Buss is not gonna pay Kwame 10mill to be a back up center, Kwame at PF makes alot more sense and really helps our team.

Last nights game was very frustrating, any team watching now knows how to beat the Lakers - just go zone. It amazes me how dumb our guards were (Kobe especially) when the Bucks went zone. The objective of a zone is to force outside shots, so what do the Lakers do? Thats right, they break a Laker record for 3 pointers attempted - BRAINDEAD! Kwame, Bynum and Turiaf (our centers) had 3 shot attempts, 3! Talk about basic basketball, the way to beat a zone is to move the ball and attack the inside with crisp passing and cuts (basically running the triangle) not shooting long range bombs after a couple of swing passes. I dont usually get pissed about losing as long as we play hard and smart, last night we did neither.

Yeah i saw that too. A few teams have run the zone on us and we just all of a sudden go in foolish mode.

If Kobe stays int he game in the 4th then he might get to 60, he has 45 with like 3 mins to go in the 3rd.

Make that 52 points with 36 secs left in 4th, PLEASE STAY IN THE GAME!

Pistons win by 2 against the heat. Wow, Wade shot 5-23. Bound to have an off shooting night once in a while. Anyway, 7 in a row for the Pistons.

The Jazz just got their hiney's handed to them.

For anybody who missed the game, I'm sure Lord Evo meant 52 with 36ticks left in the 3rd. I was waiting for 60 but he played like 2 minutes in the 4th and didn't even shoot.

Argh why come back in the game if you aren't going to shoot? I think he shot once but he missed but he should have tried to go for 60, and leave what people would think off your mind.

Loved the Pistons game, they had a great stradegy at the end of the game where they put four in the box and made Wade try and beat them with a jumper from the outside, instead of playing it man to man where he can drive and be so deadly.

I don't think Kobe or Phil Jackson cared much about him getting 60, since he's done it so many times before. If he came close to his record, I could see him staying in the game.

What I don't understand is why the Heat wasted all that time and tried getting the game winner instead of setting something up. IMO, you should only do that if the game is tied. That way, the worse that can happen is OT. But no, we wated until 2 seconds left to shoot it. At least shoot it at 8 seconds or something like that, so if you miss you still have time to foul them and then maybe a 3 at the buzzer to send it to OT.

Yea, I noticed that too. It appeared that the Heat had a set play in mind, but I think it was designed for Wade to drive the lane because he was in isolation and he had Posey and Walker set up for 3s on the outside incase he drove and the D collaspsed on him, but when he seen the Pistons playing 4 in the box Wade looked suprise, like he wasnt sure if he should reset the play or just take the shot, can't blame him for takin the shot tho.

They should have made a set play instead of a simple iso for Wade, because he was so off that game. His heroics come often, but not always.
