Man, Arenas is ballin out of his mind lately. 51 against the Jazz tonight including the game winning 3.
Big game for the Lakers later on against the Heat. The Heat have been playing really well lately and this will also be a good chance to see if we have improved our pick and roll defense. You know the Heat will run a high screen and roll for Wade all game long and let him create, id like to see Kobe go under the screen and see if Wades jumper is on to start. If it is id still rather see him taking that instead of getting in the lane and getting our big guys in foul trouble. The Heats 3pt shooters have been on fire as well so our rotations have to be quick if we are going to double Wade of the screen. Should be a great game even with the injuries to both teams.
I only saw the first 6 minutes of that game, because I'm 3 hours ahead of Pacific time. I had a feeling the Lakers were going to have a good game.
Anyway, the Nets won, I'm glad to say. Jason Kidd- 1 rebound shy of yet another TD. This is literally his 83rd time he's missed a TD by 1 rebound. And this is excluding all the ones he's missed by 1 assist or 1 point. Add all those up, and he'd already be passed Magic for 2nd of all time, and would be on his way towards Oscar. What a trooper. 🙂

It's kinda wierd how well the Heat have been playing w/o Riles. And Arenas has been been putting up MVP numbers for sure, I'm curious to see if his play will transfer into the postseason.

That theory would only work if Magic himself had not missed a TD by a rebound, assist, point etc. I would bet Magic had his fair share of games like that.
Kidd should go down as an all time great PG, he is on my list of active vets i'd like to see win a championship along with Grant Hill and KG. His rebounding has always been incredible for a 6'4 PG, im not sure of his career average (and i cant be bothered to check) but they must be way above the norm.

He's gonna be talked about as an MVP but he has no chance of winning it imo. He is basically doing what Kobe did last year and he ended up 4th in the race so i dont like Arenas's chances.
It all seems to be about Nash again this year, he is putting up crazy numbers once again and the Suns are playing great. I dont think Nash should be a 3 time MVP because of the company it puts him in but its hard to deny he deserves it by his numbers. Dirk seems to be getting some props to but he has a very strong squad to help with the heavy lifting. The MVP award seems to be very hard to define, is it the most valuable player to his team or most valuable to a winning team or the best player on the best team? I dont know myself but it will be interesting nonetheless to see how it unfolds.

Yea, thats exactly why I don't see Nash winning it for a 3rd year either, I think Dirk is gonna take it this year.

It's funny with Nash. The two years he won MVP, he probably didn't deserve it (altough I've lightened up on his first MVP as there really wasn't any clear choice). Now he is putting up an MVP year and he'll probably won't win it because it would put him in serious company with the all time greats.

That's a good article, but he only stated what most basketball fans alreadty knew, well, the loyal basketball fans who watch basketball all year, and not just the playoffs. I predicted a Suns/Pistons final, and I knew that the Suns part would only come true if Amare returned to his old self, which he is obviously doing. And now that the Pistons acquired a much needed Offesive frontman, I believe Webber can give them the same spark that Sheed gave the Pistons when they snagged him from Atlanta.
If anything, Nash deserved the MVP more his second year, but I was for him winning them both years.

The Suns are fun to watch and if they didnt have that prick Bell on their team they'd be one of my favorites. However their offense is perfect for the regular season when teams dont have alot of time to prepare for them, in the playoffs however they will need to be able to stop teams as well because teams will be better prepared for the offensive onslaught. They do look more balanced now with Stat back in the middle but they only play about 8 guys which may catch up to them as the season goes on.
I dont agree about Simmons being a good writer though but thats purely subjective.
What do you guys think of the 8 player trade between the Pacers and the Warriors? I personally think the Warriors got a much better deal. A power player in Harrington, a decent forward in Jackson, and a sharp-shooter in Jasikevicius (Spelled without checking online). The Pacers basically got two players who aren't playing that well this season and two no-names.

Webber's a nice addition but I think he will have to play reduced minutes to be most effective for the Pistons. He still has offensive skills but he is such a liability on the defensive end, I don't think you can play him 40+ a night. He certainly will be a godsend for a guy like Rip who works so well without the ball as there is not a better passing big man than Webber.

True, they won't be as dominant in the playoffs but I don't see how any team can slow them down enough to win 4 games. They just have so much firepower and they can play so many different ways offensively. LA, Clips and Dallas knew what Phoenix was going to do along with everyone watching: pick and pop, pick and pop, pick and pop. They still couldn't stop them until Dirk took over the series.

At first glance it looks like a good deal for the Warriors because they got some good athletes to fit with Nelsons run-and-gun offense.
It might work out for the Pacers to but right now it looks like they had their pants pulled down, Dunleavy could fill the shooters void created by Peja but he is inconsistent.
What i cant understand is why Indiana would get rid of Harrington after they bent over backwards to get him in the offseason.
Oh and props for the spelling Rec (i would have had to look that one up).

I thought the Warriors robbed them. Both Murphy and Dunleavy are mediocre at best players with large contracts. I'm not a fan of Al or Jackson, but I would much rather have them than Murphy and Dunleavy. The only downside for the Warriors is Jackson is a pyscho.

I agree with most of that but while the Suns have the strongest offense in the league it is capable of drying up because of the reliance on the 3pt shot. They are going to have to stop teams as well if they want to go all the way, even the great Lakers showtime team that played fast break ball had money plays in the half court and played suffocating defense to ignite their break. The Suns just hope the other team misses and pushes it back the other way.
Dont get me wrong im not saying they cant go all the way, but i think their defense is still a weakness and they might struggle with such a short rotation and if their opponent is disciplined enough to dictate the tempo for 4 games.

Thats true, Webber is a liability on defense, but the Pistons play such good help defense that he shouldn't be as much as a liability as he would on most teams.
About the trade, it all depends on how Dunleavy performs for Indiana for the trade to balance out. Last year Dunleavy showed potential that he could be a solid starter in the league and showed some good potential, thus the 50 million dollar contract in the offseason, but he has shown very little so far this year. I think Murphy can be a 15/10 player type of player, and he has shown he can be that. Meanwhile Golden State gets more talanted players, but alot of baggage that could overall hurt the team if Jackson does something stupid.
