I don't think Kobe intentionally meant to hurt Ginobili, but that elbow Kobe threw was pretty damn wild. He was either trying to make it look like a foul, or tried to push anyone away from the ball so get another chance at the ball for another shot. You can get away with that kind of stuff when you use your hands, but you're not going to get away with it when you use your elbows.
What do you guys think of the all-star reserves selections? I think they were shit. If anybody watched TNT Thursday, I agree with Barkley's statements on the picks. As good as they are, Vince Carter and Rip Hamilton should not have made the team. The Nets are below .500 and definitely do not deserve 2 all-stars. Kidd is playing out of his mind right now, so he is the obvious choice from the Nets. In Carter's place should have been Okafor. The Pistons are doing pretty well and potentially are deserving of 2 all-stars, but not when the Bulls are doing about the same as the Pistons and they don't get any all-stars. Ben Gordon should have been selected over Rip.
In the West, it is a little tougher because all the talent out west. But Dallas should have gotten 2 all-stars with the way Josh Howard is playing. The hard part is deciding who should have been left off. The Suns have 3 guys going, and all three guys are great, but its hard to say if they should have 3 going while Dallas only has 1. Maybe Tony Parker should have been left off. Howard is at least playing on Parker's level while his team is doing better. As deserving as the Spurs are to have 2 all-stars, Dallas earned it more.

Anything unintentional doesn't deserve a suspension. Kobe didn't deserve it, but if he checked to see if Ginobili was alright right away, then maybe the league would have seen the situation differently and not have given him the suspension. It might have been just the way he walked away that made it look as if he did it out of frustration. Everyone knows it was unintentional, but it's about what the league thinks.

As big of a Nets fan I am, I have to agree that Vince didn't really deserve to get in. He has been too inconsistent, and with the exception of the past 5 games, he has played uninspired. I didn't think the coaches would vote for him. Oh well, I guess it's my job to be happy for him anyway.
Rip, on the other hand, is playing fantastic. If you want to replace Gordon, then take out Billups. Rip deserves his All-star spot. He has carried the Pistons for most of this season. Billups has been injured and inconsistent, Rasheed has gone down (while his technicals are going up), Nazr Mohammed is going to be traded soon, and Webber just came in. Other than him, Maxiell, and Tayshaun, no one else has really stepped up for the Pistons. So give Rip some credit. Since they're so many great players in the league, the league can't accomodate everyone of those players. The league isn't perfect. Not everyone will be happy with the results.
But I also think the coaches could have done better. Above all, Vince shouldn't have been selected.

More like the refs went crazy, 15 free throws in the 4th is unheard of. Wade had more FT's than the whole Cavs team, so it didnt matter that he shot badly from the field.
Also i wonder if LeBron will get suspended for that head high shot on D-Whistle late in the game. The NBA has set out its stall and said any head high contact is worthy of a suspension so lets see if they are consistent.

I know the Refs give him fouls, but every single time he went to the line in the 4th quarter that game, it was a foul.

I'm not saying that every single time they would have been called fouls, because I have seen some of them not called, but they still WERE fouls. It wouldn't be a bad call either way they called it, because they weren't obvious fouls, but they still were fouls.

Well, in the East you know I'm going to be biased, and say Rip over Gordon, Rip should be given the benefit of the doubt since year in, and year out he has played at or close to the same level he plays every year. I am with you on Okafor tho, and he is deserving to play in AllStar, but I think realistically, Gordan would have a better chance getting in over Rip, than Okafor did getting in over Carter, even tho Carter deserves it the least.
I think Ray Allen was snubbed more than Josh Howard, yea, Josh Howard is playing great, and has been playing great for Dallas, but he isn't carrying that team, and he benefits alot from Dirk, while Allen doesn't have the depth, talent, or coaching Dallas has, he's still plays at a very high level, and the players on Seattle benefit from him.

Billups has been just as consistent as Rip. The only way I could see Rip getting the slot over Billups is because Rip has been healthier. When Billups was hurt Rip still produced good numbers, but he didn't produce good enough numbers to carry Detroit to any victories. When Billups was hurt in January, Detroit suffered there worst month since like 2001 which goes to show that Rip isn't carrying that team. When Billups came back we started winning again, and players like Sheed, Maxiel, Prince, ect. all started producing more with Billups in the lineup.

I don't think you can say Billups is playing better just because Detroit played poorly without him. They probably would've played just as bad without Rip. And injury is not an excuse for being in the All-star game. I see that Rip is playing better than he did last season, whereas, not so much for Billups. Just saying from what I've seen from them so far. it's fine if you see it differently.
These would be my 5 starters this season by position:
PG: Arenas or Nash - I give Arenas the edge because he can play better D but it wouldn't be too wrong to go with Nash.
SG: Kobe - Still putting up the big numbers and getting his teammates more involved this year and not getting as much help from the refs as Wade.
SF: Lebron - Not so much for this season but for his overall game and his future potential but a case could be made for Melo, Marion or Howard this season.
PF: KG or Nowitzki - Again a difference of style but I give KG the nod due to his defensive presence, not to mention he's having a career year across the board on a sorrier team.
C: Yao - Becasue he's the only true center left in the league and he was having his best season before he got hurt. Otherwise you could go with any of the Power Forward/Center Hybrids out there, Duncan, D. Howard, Bosh, Stoudemire, etc
