Chris Paul if the Hornets finish in the top 3 of the West.

Its close between Paul and Kobe, but I'm actually thinking Kobe deserves it more, barely.

Kobe

Kobe should win, but prolly won't win MVP...As for tonight Pau Gasol returns. Dirk Nowitzki is doubful and Mr. Mouth Gil Arenas has been cleared to play , but its up to him when he comes back.

Nice revenge for Dallas on the Warriors tonight. Warriors eliminated Dallas last year, but Dallas just played a huge part in keeping the Warriors out this year.

Paul has had a great year no doubt, but he has also had a healthy roster all season long. I've heard people (Steve Nash) say Kobe doesnt deserve it this year because he has better teammates this year, but we have been ravaged by injuries to key players and Bynum and Gasol have yet to play one game together. Still we are in the hunt for 1st place in the west and most of the credit has to be given to Kobe.
If you take either Chandler or West (or even both) away from Paul then i dont think the Hornets are close to the record the Lakers have now. Thats not a slight on Paul either he has proved that he is the best all around PG in the league, he plays both ends of the floor brilliantly and he will no doubt be a perennial MVP candidate if the Hornets keep winning.
This really has to be Kobe's year, when he blitzed the league with his scoring then the argument was that he wasnt making anyone better and didnt have a good enough record. Now he has better teammates he has taken a step back with his scoring and won at a greater rate which is exactly what his critics were using to dismiss him the last 2 years. He is the best player in the league and has been for a while, if he wasnt such a polarising personality then it would be a landslide decision.

Good to have Pau back. Andrew will go on the road trip and prolly play in the last 2-3 games

Kobe is the MVP this yr

It should definetly go to Paul. Kobe has been having a good year but they lost most of the games that Bynum and Gasol were out. Not to mention Kobe had a big 53 point game with 0 assists and a loss. While West and Chandler have been healthy they really aren't nowhere as good as they seem. Thats just Paul at work. and in assists and leads the league in steals and turned a slightly better than average team into the cream of the Western conference Kobe is defeinetly on his heels but Paul should take it this year.

Yeah I think Chandler and West are products of Paul. Paul makes them the players they are.

And after giving the MVP to Nash, I don't know how you can't give it to Paul.

He had 53 points, he carried us in that game but we decided to play 0 defense. How can you put that against Kobe. And Paul has had a healthy team the whole season. Bynum has missed 38 games and Gasol has only played in 20. I agree that its a 2 man race between Kobe and Paul, but after robbing Kobe these past two seasons, I think you have to give it to him all things considered. He's playing with a tore ligament in his finger, one that every doctor he went to suggested surgery on it and one that sidelines 99.9% of the players in this league, but Kobe is fighting through the pain and the swelling and leading this Lakers team to one of the best records in the West.

See I still don't see it like that. The Hornets have only slightly more talent than the lakers did before the Gasol trade. And a good amount less talent and experince than they do right now. Yet they are on top of the Western conferance. The difference maker is Paul.

I'm not trying to denigrate anything Kobe has done this year but with the addition of Bynum playing better and Pau the Lakers are better. But New Orleans is playing like another team entirely. The Lakers have gotten better but NEw Orleans has gotten way better.

I'm not even sure if Kobe is the clear number two. KG has turned the team with the worst record in the league to a team with the bet record in the game. TIs not reflected in his numbers true, but you cna see it in the attitude of the players and the renewed swagger. And its comign from KG just like the new Attitude in NO is comig from Paul. K

Kobe will get it.

Does he deserve it, yes. Does he deserve it over Paul, thats for the press.

Both are equally important to their teams. If one or the other get it, well I dont really see anybody having a stink about it outside of their respective fans.

Does he deserve it? Sure infact he should have gotten it last season. More than Paul? I'm inclined to think not.

You're right thought that it doesn't matter if he gets it over Paul cause I'm sure Paul has some more coming in the future.
