On the subject of Kwame Brown, a Laker forum i visit is talking about a possible trade involving Brown and Caron Butler. I think they may be some other bit players thrown in for cap purposes, but what do you guys think about this trade.
I think Butler is a great asset to the Lakers, he is a decent scorer and if he works at his defense and shooting he could fit nicely into Phil's triangle offence. He also has a ton of heart and character and thats the sort of intangible you cant coach, he is the sort of guy you want on your team if you're going to war.
Brown on the other hand seems to be an enigma, he had all the physical gifts but doesn't seem to have the desire to use them. I know he was bullied by Jordan in his rookie year but surely the great players would look at that as a challenge and use it as motivation to become better.
The Lakers need help in the form of a power forward, Grant is too old and Turaif isn't gonna start in his rookie year (don't get me started on Medvedenko and Cook). This is where Brown comes in, if he can flourish under Phil's guidance and reach his potential then maybe it could be a good trade. Butler for all his good points is a SF and we certainly have enough of those. What do you guys think? Do you take the gamble and potentially fill a huge void or do you stick with the guy who has proven he has the goods but he would probably be coming off the bench if Odom plays SF?
