"Did he have any friends here, Teshan ? Anyone else who might know him ?"

"None that I really knew of," says Teshan. "I was just his teacher, I did not know him at all well. Was he wanted by the Jedi, or something? I can't think why."

"And no-one in the nearby are saw anything at all when the murder actually happened?"

"To answer your question, no he was not wanted by the Jedi."

"Well, I have no idea if anyone saw anything" says Teshan. "I assume not. But if he was not wanted by the Jedi... I am sorry, but I still rather do not understand why you are all here... what could this place and a murder here have to do with what is obviously a major Jedi investigation?"

Gundark lowered her voice. "Perhaps we could talk privately ?"

"Of course," says Teshan. "Please, cone into my office."

He talks to some of the senior pupils so that they keep the training of others going, and then takes you into his small (and somewhat messy) office, which has his desk, some admin stuff, a few more Jedi-style artifacts mounted on the walls (you are PRETTY sure he didn't steal those...), and a large, rather fearsome safe. Which is more significant than you might think as credits are electronic in the Republic.

"We're here at the request of the Supreme Chancellor," Gundark began.

Teshan blinks. And blinks again.

"Chancellor Palpatine?" he says. "My word! What could be going on?"

(Incidentally, for you suspicious types out there, you sense no deception from Teshan, only genuine surprise, and certain joy in seeing Jedi again)

"Senator Palpatine has secretly engaged the Jedi in order to locate a possible Sith Master." Gundark held her breath, waiting for his reaction.

"The Sith?" says Teshan. "You simply must be joking! And here on Malastare?"

Lance reached out with his senses to see if Treshan was surprised at hearing the news.

Surprised doesn't cover it; astonished, is the term.

"The Senator has a reliable source that tells him that the man we're after may be connected to the death of Qui Gon Jinn," Gundark explained. "And that he is, or was here on Malastare."

Teshan nods. "I had heard rumours about Master Qui-Gon's death, but I had assumed a rogue Jedi... do you know the identity of this man?"

All too well.... Gundark thought.

"Yes. Myself, at least. Prefect Moran here on Malastare is the only other person besides ourselves with information on this person. His name is Kuylen."

"Kuylen..." Teshan thinks for a moment. "You mean Larios Kuylen?"

(Yup, that is his first name)

It was Gundark's turn to be surprised. "You know him ?"

"Of course!" says Teshan. "I taught him!" He looks thoughtful. "But Kuylen needed little help from me. You know, on Charnel they let the babies handle weaponry from the first day of their life? Every day there are immersed in soldiering and the military, especially a noble family like Kuylen's. I swear that knowing how to fight is built into their genetic code; like every planet in the Tasker's Crown constellation. They make the finrst soldiers you will ever seen, and fine Jedi too. He could have fought people twice his age even as a youngling." Teshan sighs.

"And now fallen? That is a very dark thing indeed... it is always a sad, sad thing when a Jedi loses his way. I do not envy you your task, Master Gundark."

(Charnel, the main world of Tasker's Crown, is Kuylen's homeworld, something that I was surprised no-one ever checked on!)

"You taught him well," Gundark told Teshan with a sigh. "I have fought him."
