USH'S GAME EPISODE III- 'ARTIFACT'. Light Side Area

In that case, Mah will be spending some time underneath the pod, causing the occasional shout of "Pass me the FRIGGING electrospanner!"

Other than that, there are no vital things that occur between now and the time the pod race starts. The threads need to be synchronised before it does, so if anyone has any plans or ideas in the meantime, please let me know.

Grevor and Corelay come to see if you guys are ok; to your surprise, Gundark, Corelay wishes to speak to you.

Lance walks over to the pod, underwhich he finds Mah.

"Need any help adjusting anything?"

I take out my comlink and message Mah, you need any help, maybe I can aquire some for us

(He's a full ranking Knight, Fire!)

Oh, he has changed it, I see... never mind then!

Xeth walks around the podracer. "Very neat design, and well painted! It's a big thing though. Anakin Skywalker told me a bit about how most of the big podracers exploded in the Boonta Eve..."

Xeth decides to stop talking when Mah starts looking startled. He quickly flips through the rulebook instead.

"Hmm...no flashing, no scrags, no tangling lines, no destroying gnats...what's all this mean? Podracing slang or something?" asks Xeth. He reads further... "Hey, 'gundark' is in here...it means 'an area of the track that causes difficult handling'..." Xeth looks to Master Gundark with a chuckle.

OOC: Good humor to break the tension of the moment. We need Mah to be relaxed going into this.

IC: "Looks like Master Gundark is more known than we thought. HaHa. But seriously Master, you're not that difficult. HaHa."

and I come slowly strolling in

"Hello Master Gundark, greetings felloz jedi's
seems that we have a pod-race on our hands.
Well Mah I have all faith in you, you'll do well my friend"

I go to sit down in the corner and start to meditate

While you are looking at the rules... worth noting that as this race is on a civilised Republic world, it's not as vicious and nasty as the Boonta Eve. There are deaths, but only because people crash. There is a certain amount of jostling that is acceptable, but blatant attempts to kill, and hidden weapons, are right out. Some other pods have been modified to be able to bash others better, though.

Looks like there will be about eight or nine competitors to you, Mah.

(So we can't use the hidden flamethrower? 😄 )

"I wonder who the competitors are..." says Xeth, skimming through the rules in search of the information.

A variety of aliens- no humans, of course. Some big and scary, some absolutely tiny. There are only six listed, though- those are the people who registered a while ago. It's an open race, so anyone who owns a pod can race in it if they turn up on the day, which is pretty much what you are doing.

(Hmm, I see...)

(Me and REX found a good site for Podracing slang. http://starwars-rpg.net/journal/archive/2000-10/pod-slang.html )

Well, Mah is all done by the end of the day. The race is at noon the day after. Moran can provide you all comfortable places to stay... if people want to think about what has happened, or talk to anyone in particular, feel free...

"well I'd like to go and wonder around in the city for a while everyone is free to follow me"

(Typical this. From the liner onwards I have been desperately trying to catch you guys up with the Dark Siders... and now we reach the crucial bit and THEY are stalling! Grrr! Race starts sometime today, though, I promise.)

Dark out now, Fire. And Malastare is pretty gloomy even in the day; at night it needs VERY strong lights to illuminate the somewhat thick atmosphere. Easy to see Ascar's building at night; it is the highest building in the capital and showered with lights. You wander what he is up to, and how much time this petty little distraction is costing you.

Bet yet, you might have found a link. Ascar links to organised crime Until that link is checked out, you don't know much, but it COULD be something to do with the Red Lance pirates. And if Kuylen in any way links to Ascar... the whole case could be coming together.

There seems to be nothing on the streets tonight. But you can feel something in the future for tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a crucial day for you, and the others. It will set your path for the times ahead.

Ok, game on!

it is noon the next day, and you have all slept well.

Most of you are currently queing to get into the arena. There are tens of thousands of people here today, so that is a bit of a hassle! Grevor and Corelay have joined you; all three of you Masters (Gundark, Marcus, Grevor) have had a 'feeling' about today.

Mah, you are currently walking through the competitor's entrance. You will now leave this thread, as you would during a duel, and enter the new pod racing thread I am creating. One thing though- you very quickly notice that you are not the only last-second Mogarian entry into the race...

Ok, new thread is in. It is rather a lot to digest, so take a little time and take it all in.

For the rest of you, I will be describing the events of the race from your perspective here, but feel free to read the thread as well. There is a radio in that Mogarian suit you can talk to Mah with, but if you need to talk, say the message here and I will relay it to the racing thread.

Right now, you are climbing to your seats, and the pods are lining up below.

"This should be exciting..." says Xeth as he sits down in his seat.

"young jedi this is everything but exciting.... the possibility of people getting killed in these kinds of races is very likely. The fact that these races are tolerated within the republic only shows how greedy the universe has become, it also shows the political power from the gambling lobby.... This event is everything but exciting. It is unfortunate that Mah will have to risk his life in such a way"

Mah and the other Mogarian (you will lose track if not careful!) are 'eyeing' each other up, carefully.

"So true, so true..." replies Xeth to Marcus. "It is a sad thing. The good thing is that they are less likely to cheat with flashing and scrags and flamethrowers and the like. Plus, Mah Ar'cor has Jedi reflexes. He's less likely to crash and more likely to avoid any unfortunate crashes."

Xeth orders a Screaming Podracer drink from the alien walking down the rows advertising food. He takes a sip. "Mmm, this is good. Tastes somewhat like..." Xeth spits the liquid back in the cup. "...motor oil and grease..."
