I'll do it for Ush:
Ascar has given us a chance to get the Astrolabe, but the catch is one member from our investigating team has to compete in a pod-race.
Mah has been chosen and right now we are at the race track.
Mah is in a wide brown pod that is very manuverable. And he is wearing a Mogarian disguise.
The race is about to begin.
And this is where we are now.
Ta, Lance. The reason you need to race, btw, is that Ascar stands to make a lot of money if a last second entry ruins the odds by winning. None of the punters know that Mah is a Jedi, you see...
In return for the cash he gets if you win, he lets you borrow the Astrolabe. No-one is best pleased with him right now.
Incidentally, the other racers and description of the track is now in the pod racing thread. Everyone is powering up now- a brief moment of nervousness as Mah's engine fails to start, but then the energy flashes spark between his engines and he is ready to go.
The countdown to the off starts any moment.
Kellan had buried her frustration at the entire situation as best she could. With Grevor sitting this close to her, she knew he could very easily pick up on her emotions and she didn't want to get into a debate with him over her motives for taking this mission. She turned to Corelay. "What did you want to discuss with me earlier, young Padawan ?"
Kellan had to suppress a smile. Corelay's protest had the ring of Qui-Gon's defiance to it. "You certainly have a right to express disagreement with your Master, Corelay. But for now you must follow his lead. And that of the Council. Once you become a Jedi Knight, you can re-align yourself with your own ideals, but you still must abide by the Council decisions, like them or not." She sighed and looked out over the stadium around them. "I've been at odds with the Council myself from time to time. But the Code is there for a reason. Remember that, padawan."
"Yes, Master, I understand. it is not my place to disagree with you or the Council and I will follow Grevor's lead.
"But, Master Gundark... you know what I mean, of course. I mean, you ARE going after Kuylen, right? And that is correct? What possible wisdom can there be in letting this man roam free, killing the innocent and searching out his forbidden Sith sites? Surely it would be the height of complacency to ignore him, not to mention a dereliction of our duty to the Republic."
"Yes, Corelay, the goal of this mission is to find Kuylen and stop him. And in the process, uncover the identity of Qui-Gon's attacker and the identities of any possible apprentices the attacker may have left behind," she explained, trying to assure him. "But this mission has not been undertaken with revenge as its guide," she continued, more to herself than to the boy sitting next to her. "We must bring Kuylen to justice for his crimes against the Republic, not hunt him down and murder him in cold blood." You should listen to yourself, Kellan....do you hear what you are saying? Once again Qui-Gon's face blurred her thoughts. She had to let go of this mindless obsession with utterly destroying Kuylen once she found him.
"But yet if it were not for the Chancellor, no attempt would even be being made to bring Kuylen to account for his crimes... I find the actions of the Council... obscure, at least," says Corelay. "Pardon me for speaking my mind, of course, Master. Just with Grevor agreeing with them... I was hoping not ALL the Masters felt the same way. I find much wisdom in what you say."
"So," asks Corelay, "are you saying that you disagree with what the Chancellor wants and are doing this mission under protest? I understood you were more than happy when you had the opportunity... and no offence, Master... but you seem to feel very strongly that this is the right thing to do..."
Ah, gee, Gundy, your thoughts about Kuylen must be an open book to any Jedi...
Kellan resisted the urge to clench her fists. She lowered her voice. "Your insight serves you well, young padawan, as it seems I have underestimated your ability to perceive my true emotions." She looked the boy directly in the eyes. "My desire to continue searching for Kuylen was denied by the Council as well you know. When Chancellor Palpatine offered the opportunity in the form of a....personal executive order for myself and the other Jedi to pursue Kuylen, it fueled my reasoning for avenging Qui-Gon's death," she looked past him for a moment. "Strange. It seemed almost as if the Chancellor knew what I was feeling deep down and drew it to the surface." Kellan smiled at Corelay. "But without the Force, of course he could not." She put a hand on the boy's shoulder. "But this is not the way of the Code, padawan. And you know it. So best you should follow the example of your own Master. He is a far more sensible Jedi than I."
