Poison Ivy? I bet you can guess why...

And I think Alliance was referring to the "life long Atheist" JIA was posting about.

I know that, I can read. 😛 But I often see both sides of a statement like the one Alliance made. You have to understand that I really am a smart ass at heart. 😄

I know, I'm really a pedantic cynic at heart.

But I tried to combine the two there, pointing out the actually purpose while comparing JIA to a famous irritant that gives one an itchy rash if one comes into contact with it.

Green Algae was actually what I had in mind 🙂

Damn algae, strangling the water ways!

And Blue green algae which, if present, prevents one swimming in the old water hole.

I hate algae.

Indeed, it is a pest. Fortunatly my parents never had trouble with it on there farm (thought it might have become a problem if some of the willows hadn't been removed.)

So, to be qualified as a "real atheist" one has to dedicate nearly two decades of ones life to disproving the book one already doesn't believe in before deciding "hey, this is actually true! I have been converted!"

It sounds dodgy.

And what about all those Biblical scholars who have studied the Bible for 20 years? Or 50 years? And have remained Atheists? The ones who study it for scholarly purposes, not seeking to disprove it at all?

Being an atheist is not the crux of what I intended to convey. My point is this: the man did not just summarily and irrationally discount the Bible--He could have--but he didn't. Just because something contradicts what you believe that does not mean that it is untrue. He gave the Bible equal time as it were and examined for himself before making a determination to believe it or not. He did not just say, "Did you say Bible?, Oh, never mind it is untrue, case closed."

You also don’t know anything else about this man like his state of mind, personal experiences and medical. This is one man out of many who changed his views, as stated there are vast numbers more that haven’t “switched” so this is a rarity and not the norm. This man could have had a mental break down, a life changing experience or some other reasons other then “an awaking”.

Only you would raise non-essential issues like this Pit.

No, he had some good points.

Only you would overlook questions that need to be asked and only take what is written and not read to where it comes from or why.

Proof Of God's Existance

Okay, I found the most common argument, or loophole argument, in defense of God's existance and the validity and infallibility of the Bible...here it goes:

How do you know your God exists?

Because the Bible says so

How do you know the Bible is Absolute Truth?

Because God wrote it

Do you guys see the perfectionism of that argument ? How it can keep going and going and going and going and going, on in a circular argument ? Two simplistic arguments which support each other back and forth ?

😆

Thoughts ?

No kidding.

I haven't read this post and don't intend to especially as the posters username is Jesusisalive. I don't know what the hell you're on but if there ever was a Jesus I damn well know he was killed by the Jewish. You can say he was never killed and was replaced by that king or say Jesus came back to life again but I honestly don't care or believe anything to do with religion I'm agnostic through and through.

Actually your spirit knows the truth as your spirit is in contact with the His spirit and the realm where God moves, i.e in the spirit. That is also why your spirit can instantly know when something is not coshure with another person- that is if you know how to listen to your spirit and God's spirit. While you keep rejecting God and Jesus or try to reason out His existance you're spirit cannot connect with God and you will never know the TRUTH.

So tell us, what is it like in South Africa? What with all teh new cases of AIDS among the couloured people, has god been involved in the situation? Does he have anything to say about it?
