Phoenix casually amputated the futute putting reality on its death bed. It was dying, had she not bothered to grow it a new future it would have.

Given that feat its quite easy to come to the conclusion that she could rip apart many a reality if it was her wish to do so.

If Phoenix can quite capably manipulate matter and energy on a universal scale down to the atomic level as New X-men 154 she did then its quite feasible that Jean could create a new universe if she wished.

Wolverine came to the same conclusion in New X-men 150 and Jean says that is not how she works. She has duties.

Because thats the way the writers handle the powerful character that is Phoenix.

They wont depower her permanently so they introduce plot devices such as Psychic circuit breakers and so on to depower her temporarily for the sake of the story.

All those things the psychic circuit breakers and so on are canon and are acknowledged, so dont label me a fanboy for bringing them to your attention. 🙂
