Okay. This is ridiculous. First off, Magneto has never used his powers on a global scale without some kind of enhancement or special circumstances surrounding the condition of the planetary EM fields. In the scan you produce, the EM fields were skewered to the extreme that he could not use his powers within the planetary atmosphere without the fields backfiring and killing him. You have to prove that his blast would have had the same results if the fields had not been tampered by Forge's machine. In "MAgneto War," his next appearance, he had to use a machine to boost his powers to cause a global blackout. The fields were not skewered in that arc.
The issue flat outs state that Phoenix equalled him in power. She had power to rival Xavier's as well. Magneto was not more powerful than Phoenix.

A) The skewered EM-Fields did not make them any less powerful. Stop trying to claim that. It was not said anywhere.
B) In Magneto War, he did not need the machine to blackout stuff (as he had done it easily before), he needed it to KEEP his hold over the EM field, to stay in that state. This was stated in the comic too.

So far, the powers that have been given to storm in this thread are uncanny. Specifically, the control of electrons and other sub atomic particles. This control has allowed her to affect weather conditions on Earth, tidal conditions in the ocean and solar energies in space.
Given that the natural mechanisms behind these things are completely different, it would indicate that, if Storm were really capable of these things, her powers are less about weather control and more about controlling either the smallest building blocks of matter or even generally over some of the fundamental forces of the universe.
If this is the case, then since 1975, storm has been a bigger moron than the Rhino. For her to have such specific and diverse control of matter and energy, she is WASTING it by controlling the weather. If she has the ability to just "charge electrons" she is capable of much more than simple lightning. In fact, the most effective use of this power would not involve lightning at all, but would be more akin to a microwave, even then I am probably not being creative enough.
So, the question I have is basically this: Which is more likely:
A) Storm is capable of all these and other forms of matter and energy manipulation. She has abilities that can alter sub atomic particles and possibly some of the fundamental forces of the universe. In light of this, she spends most of her time making impressive feats with the weather. Since she has never used this power to its fullest, though she is clearly aware of her diversity of abilities (she channeled solar power, remember?). In this option, Storm is the stupidest character ever created by marvel. Literally, the most idiotic and absentminded EVER. If this is what Storm is, and I were Xavier, I would have kicked her off the X men years ago for being a hack.
B) Storm controls weather. She has high end feats that are ridiculous like ALL OTHER CHARACTERS! She has done things in the past that were more about forwarding the plot or about telling a good story rather than keeping everything canonical and accurate, JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER CHARACTER! In this case, Storm falls in power wise at about the same place as the Jean Grey Phoenix that CC is comparing her to in the interview. This is the phoenix who is NOT the Phoenix Force, as that idea had not been created yet. In other words, in light of the Dark Phoenix Saga, the CC interview would have to be retconned.

Wait...you still consider her electromagnetic control to be better too? She controls the energy of said Earth, which is made manifest in the form of the what we call "weather". Storm is a mutant, basically human with powers, who hails, lives, and protects said planet Earth. The aforementioned begs the question, why would she NOT control the weather?? 😱

The fundamental forces of the universe are:
Electromagnitism
Strong and Weak Nuclear Force
Gravity
Weak Nuclear Force and Electromagnitism can be grouped into something called Electroweak Force, but that is unnecessary here.
So, if storm is controlling these energies and manifesting them as weather, she is a moron, because she could much more effectively channel the energies of these forces to do much different and much more effective things.
So sure, if she has control of electromagnitism at a sub atomic level, she can make as much lightning as she wants. So could Franklin Richards. However, control of the EM scale at that level would also give you control over kinetics, and EVERY SINGLE MOVEMENT MADE BY ATOMS AND THEIR SUB ATOMIC PARTICLES. PERIOD.
Now do you understand? If storm is that powerful, she is manifesting it in the most absurd and useless of ways.
