I don't think the dirt caused him trouble, well sure but I think it was for a good cause. It was to show him how stupid it is when you embrace an inanimate object. It showed a great lesson to Jack of how its important to believe in yourself and your instincts, other than material objects.

I never though of that, that is really interesting. IMO it looked like the dirt wasn't working for him. More problems were heading his way, and the jar didn't seem to fixed it. But now looking at it in that POV, it makes perfect sense. Tia was probably trying to teach Jack a lesson. That was a good catch.

It did cause him trouble. He lost the heart, it didnt keep him safe from Davy or the Kraken..like Tia said it would.

It did teach him an important lesson though in my opinion. About the way he lives life. It smacked him in the face. IMO that was the end of his love for material things
