I was out last night (propping up the local bar lol) and me and my friends happened to get onto the convo of pirates.
NOW THEN;
One of my friends has never seen the first two.
She said that the third was good, but a little confusing.
THEN she went on to say this;
"But why did she go of with Will in the end? I've not seen the first two, but from what I can gather I thought Elizabeth liked Jack?"
When i asked her why she thought that, she said this;
"Because she was so eager to find him from Tenticle-faces locker, and he voted her pirate king...and they shared a 'look'"
Then two of my other friends agreed.
One of them (who has seen all 3 films and is a massive fan of johnnys work...she doesnt think hes good looking but she really admires him lol) said that she was disappointed with the fact that there was a lack of chemistry between them in this one...
So you see;
its not just us crazed women who saw the chemistry...
my normal-ish friends did, too...and they don't ship lol.
But we all said that we walked away from the film with a smile, because Jack and ragetti,gibbs, pintel and marty made it worth our while 😄
Overall;
LOVE the film...and im seeing it for the 3rd time on saturday lol
I suppose what I was trying to do is show that Liz was meant for Will in one way, and made for Jack in another, and because this IS a Disney film, and not rated R, and made for kids, teens and adults- Liz inevitably ended up with the "traditional" choice. For me to enjoy the movie and the entire PoTC saga, and it seems others on this board feel the same way, I have to be able to rationalize the relationships. I think many of you are blinding yourself to the love between Will and Liz because you are so in love with "Sparrabeth." The beginning of DMC had Will and Liz ready to marry. Will wasted NO time going off to find Jack and the compass so he could save them from the gallows- Will truly loved Elizabeth. Of course there were strong feelings also between Liz and Jack- it adds depth, curiosity (I couldn't resist) excitement- but in the end she had to make a choice, and she did follow her heart. She could not marry both of them... so she had to choose. Do you really think Jack would have wanted a wife for his next 40-50 years? NOT! Kids? NOT! A traditional relationship? NOT! And I do believe eventually, once Liz matured, she would have wanted those things- a husband, a normal life, children... and she could not have it all- she had to make a choice. Believe me, my own heart was breaking- I wanted to see them profess their love, even if it could not be, but I just think that would have muddled what was not really supposed to be a drama (and it was already quite dramatic.) It's funny because this reminds me SO much of my other favorite movie, "Phantom of the Opera" with Gerard Butler. My friends and I have had heavy discussions- we all wanted Christine to choose Phantom, yet ended up with the more traditional choice of Raoul. The ending they added to the movie, that was not in the musical, let it be known that years later Phantom still loved Christine- and I feel in my heart that no matter when Jack goes, a piece of his heart will be with Liz-but they were never meant to be together forever. Oh my word, it's sad, isn't it? *lol* We all have to make choices! Some of you are young- you don't understand yet. The few here who are more seasoned will understand- the heart does not "know." Only the head does. You can love more that one person in your heart- but in the end, you must make a choice.

And there is no doubt in my mind that Jack cares for Will also! So when he saved will by having him stab the heart only made me Love Jack that much more because it shows what a true friend Jack is....no matter what the circumstances are! anyways i know i totally digressed....but I guess in the end Liz stayed with the guy whom she can have a better life with....but i still believe that her feelings for Jack go way deeper than meets the eye!
and no worries im not letting the Willabeth ending ruin the movie for me, because i've alreadt stated how Much I Love This Movie!!! All im saying is that their was something missing!

oh god PirateDiva i admire really that you will never be like "oh well will liz were meant to be and jack liz it was just lust" it´s me as well and i didn´t know how to say it, how to tell someone about my feelings and YOU just did it!!!it is exactly what i´m thinking 🙂 THANK YOU it really makes me never give up and always believe in this relationship and thus be really positive...🙂
Jack and Liz just mean part of my life,part of my heart i will always love them and i´m really amazed and glad to know someone like you is here in this world (well.. i know there are also the others who may feel like me or you) and even though i respect and i´m okay with the end and w/l i will never love them i will always love JL for me they are the couple coz something inside me made me think that they really love eachother even though w/l ended up together just we know where her heart truly lies...it´s with jack ...forever...

Truth be told; i knew it would happen
It's disney.
But they tried so hard to make us want the willabeth dynamic, because of what had happened in DMC.
you can't force someone to like a couple.
Look at the beckhams.
(david the footballer and victoria the ex-spicegirl).
I HATE them with a passion.
They're in the media alot and are seen everywhere...and they're boring.
And yet the paparazi try to make them out to be bloody royalty.

My point to that rant is the fact that you can't force an audience to fall inlove with a couple, JUST BECAUSE you're ending the story with them.

I just know Disney will never make a film where Will and Liz are married, yet she shows any type of affection towards Jack. It just won't happen- it would be immoral to many viewers. But- let them live long in your hearts if that is what makes you happy!
I'm not a big fan of the whole fan video montages with the sappy music- 😘 I'm not a fan of the "cheese factor." But- that's just my opinion.

Considering Will was obsessed with saving his father and that Will and Elizabeth hardly were together in the 3rd of course someone who hadn't seen the first two wouldn't see "chemistry."
The look Elizabeth gave Jack when he voted her Pirate King was a look of confusion and surprised. Need I remind everyone that Elizabeth (1) trapped Jack to be fed by the Kraken (2) traded Jack for Will and once again left Jack at the hands of Davy Jones.
Yeah I can see why everyone thinks Elizabeth loves Jack. 🙄
Yeah, a lot of opportunities were missed. I love her reaction when she's made Pirate King. Jack always sets her up for success. He never bogs her down or underestimates her. He challenges her. I'm not saying Will ties her down, but Jack definitely does not. Liz says at least twice in the series she has faith in Jack. It's nice he has as much faith in her. I really think they could have done something with that, the two of them sailing off having adventures.

oh please the reason why Elizabeth traded Jack was because Liz is a smart girl and realized during the conversation that WILL and JACK had a plan....That Jack was to stab the heart! so a trade was nessesary in order to get Jack on the ship, where the heart was!! 😄 Even Jack bowed down to her!
and we later get the confirmation that getting on the Dutchman was the plan Jack had all along when Jack was in the brig and his other self said "Well Jack u made it onto the Dutchman just how u originally planned" <---not exact words but thats what he said!
And Im really glad u can see that LIZ does LOVE JACK 😄

I truly think Will does tie her down, she is now stuck guarding Will's heart and only being able to see him once every ten years. In My opinion he took away from her the very thing that she has ever wanted

I know ur not love....ur just being rational! and im not saying im being irrational, im just saying that I know what I saw in DMC! I really got the feeling that anything could happen! Liz could have very easily gone both ways!
I understand this is Disney....but Disney broke the mold with these movies in many ways than 1! seriously the things done, said and implied in these movies could easily have been more controversial than Liz being with Jack! I mean RUM, Wenches with their breasts hangin out, drunks fighting, stealing, making Piracy look like its ok etc...
So tell me the fact that Liz is with Will yet she goes around kissing practically the entire cast is a good Moral? or at the end of AWE when she goes up to Jack and attempts to kiss him again when she is already married and knows that Will (her husband) is still ALIVE, but Disney would never make a movie about that right? lol...im not trying to get on ur case love, i know u love Sparrabeth too....but its just that they've already somewhat done the things u say Disney would never do! My point is, I just wish they would have taken that risk! 🙂

yes, it does appear that way, doesn't it...that Liz decided to wait for Will....but my question is...it's pretty obvious that Will died....and they cut his heart out and put it in a chest....i haven't seen the movie yet..just the clip on youtube...when does she and will have "sex"...and can an immortal person have sex and impregnate someone???? that's really weird, isn't it????
They have implied sex on the beach, behind some rocks. Will is putting on his boots and he tells Elizabeth he'll need the other one, and she puts her leg out...she's wearing his boot.
So he takes it off her slowly and kisses her knee, then begins to nuzzle her thigh (which Lizzie seems to enjoy), and then Will gives Elizabeth his heart, figuratively and literally.
Elizabeth says she'll keep it safe, and so they part ways. Nice scene. You should watch the film, sweetie. There's still fun J/E moments.
Anyway, as for can someone like Will have sex and get his wife pregnant...why the heck not? Technically he should be dead, but that hasn't stopped anyone in these films from (almost) carrying on as if nothing's happened. *ggg*
Also, I think the difference between Will not 'having' a heart and DJ not having a heart is that while DJ tore his out of anger, jealousy and pain and hid it away, while Will lost his heart because his friends loved him enough to save him, and instead of hiding his heart, he GIVES it to Elizabeth.
I think that makes a huge difference.
Ok, this is Sparrabeth thread so...
You'll like the J/E 'parachute' moment. It really is wonderful, as is the lead-in to it. When Will dies, Jack pulls her away and saves her and basically comforts her. It's beautifully done. 😄
