I'm not sure what manly is to you, but my view of manly doesn't usually involve loose wrists, eyeliner and screaming often and loudly in the face of danger. I like Jack Sparrow, but calling him manly is a bit of a stretch. 😉

Unfortunately, the novel is not really considered canon. *sighs* Oh well. There are other good moments from the novel that are in it that aren't in the film either.

^^ Link to a specific quote would be mighty helpful, Mina. 😉 If that line is in the absolute final script that TnT felt satisfied with, I'll be more inclined to treat it as canon, but as so many of you have pointed out, this novel was based on OLD scripts, so what the writers wanted quite possibly changed. 😉

Not to mention that Liz's choice doesn't change at all, obviously. 😉

I know why Jack wears his khol, my dear. I'm just teasing you because it's fun to watch everyone get all puffy and indignant over Jack. But I still disagree that he's uber manly.

Probably the manliest guy in the whole film is Barbossa. Will is pretty manly but a bit fey-looking, Jack is obviously bisexual (and probably had a fling or two with Beckett), and Norrington is also fairly manly but he wears that white wig which makes him look somewhat stupid.

I still say the nicest J/E moment is the parachute, because it's canon and it's sweet. My second favorite moment is at the Brethren Court where Jack votes for Elizabeth. 😄 That was fun, and Jack's own way of letting Liz know that yeah, things are pretty much ok between them now.

I didn't ask for details. While I don't agree with the hotness of the J/E ship and I don't consider them to be all that interesting (romance-wise), I'm certainly not bashing them. I would actually like to discuss their relationship, but obviously such a thing is not possible with you, since you are determined to bash Will and Elizabeth and cling to Sparrabeth.

Which, I might add, is not even held up in the book, because while there may be more Jack and Elizabeth scenes, it is obvious from the get-go that Elizabeth STILL doesn't love Jack, and your new favorite quote only rubs it in your face even more. I'm not sure why you like it, since Elizabeth rejects Jack -- again.

The only thing the book does is show that Jack is attracted to and maybe in love with Elizabeth, but Elizabeth is not interested. It's not even Sparrabeth; it's only one-sided, unrequitted love on Jack's part, and I personally don't enjoy that very much for him.

I rather enjoy the relationship he and Elizabeth have in the movie; a deep friendship that is tinged with a small amount of bittersweet regret. If the world had been different, maybe Sparrabeth would have worked out, but Jack and Elizabeth both know and understand now that Elizabeth's heart has always belonged to Will.

That to me is more beautiful and hot than any amount of Kisses of Death or near-kiss could ever be.

Now you want to bash Will and Elizabeth like a silly child, or do you want to actually have a discussion about Jack and Elizabeth?
