I just can't accept W/E ending 🙁 It's so depressing. Why TnT didn't just end this story with Liz not making any choices at all. I hate the scene on the beach and the smile on her face 🙁

I tried to find Jack another girl 😄 How about Jack and Calypso? 😉 Sparrypso 😉 She's the only woman that we know that Jack had a long term relationship with. He said about her something like that in DMC: "...Inseparable, we were. Have been. Before." After seeing AWE I understand now what he meant by before 😉 He probably was with Calypso, not Tia Dalma 😄 She must have been pretty in that times. I wonder why she didn't hate him, after all he was one of the pirates who imprisoned her into human body.

Actually, he didn't imprison her b/c he was in the 4th pirate court - right? The first court of the bretheren are the ones that imprisoned her.

thanks for explanation. I must have overlooked it. He just had a piece of eight so I thought he was there. Now I'm not sure if it was possible for Jack to be with Calypso, not Tia Dalma. 😄

who knows....that's one of the many plotholes that we will never know the answer to .....what did jack mean by that..the whole Tia Dalhma story was just wasted...

I know why I can't let go of this....because I always thought that when AWE came out we would have some j/e, some explanation to the kiss of death..but nothing....so I am like a lost soul..searching and searching but finding no answers....

Well, TnT said in their DMC dvd commentary that when Liz kissed Jack, it was to kill her guilt of having feelings and lust for Jack, apart from the obvious fact that she wanted save herself and Will. So, if this is the true reason, why does Liz want to rescue Jack in AWE? To revive her feelings and lust for Jack?

Probably they would answer that Liz felt guilty and that's why she wanted to save him. It makes no sense at all. Did she think (when she was chaining him) she wouldn't feel so guilty? Maybe TnT didn't think that much about it, they just decided to let us see some scenes, some scene were cut and they just presented their vision, not explaining too much, leaving us like - lovethemtigers said before - lost souls. I think that POTC 4 won't explain much (if anything). I just don't want to see jack chasing something he doesn't even get, because in the final moment he decides to be a good man (waiting a few years for the ending of another trilogy and learning something like that would make me really angry) It's ok that he's good, but he never gets award for this. Why didn't he behave like a pirate, kidnap Liz and sail away??? 😄

I wrote TnT, but I'm not sure if it's all TnT's fault . Maybe Disney should be blamed for that plot.

hey, remember the part where Johnny is being interviewed about POTC3 and he says "they tell me 'johnny we are going to shoot you out of a cannon' and I'm like sure, let's do it".....well why couldn't they have said:

"Johnny we're going to make Jack become a real true Pirate in the end, he's going to throw caution to the wind, dive in the water, climb in the longboat and kidnap Lizzy and take her to an island....and have sex on the beach, implied of course, cause this is Disney".....

and Johnny's response "sure, why not, let's do it." oh if only.....

but...wow, if that had truly happened I guarantee you the audience would have went wild...and we could have heard that wonderful Jack Sparrow Music in the background.......and Lizzy would have acted appalled at first and then she would have given in to her long hidden desires for the Dear Captain....and Will would have graciously bowed out realizing you can't fight fate.......or destiny for that matter.........

I guess in a way financially it's a good thing that didn't happen because I would have gone broke going back to see AWE over and over and over....

I mean, I wrote that TnT were responsible for this vision of the movie, but probably I shouldn't have written "TnT" but many others cooperating with them 😉 Unfortunately Johnny, like you mentioned, had to do with it too. 🙁

You're so right!!! I want ending like that! Liz with Jack on the beach, instead of the scene with Will... Jack kissing her and holding her so close...
I would also see AWE over and over again. I bet many people would do the same. My friend after seeing AWE said that she would never see it again, she hated the ending. If only it had been different she wouldn't go out of the cinema now. 😄

I know...if that would have been the ending...I might still be sitting in the cinema myself..I would have hid out and kept trying to see it over and over...LOL....

but you know I think one of those TandT guys wanted J/E...but he was outnumbered...and being a female..I'm pretty sure Keira was all for J/E and the excitement that it brought to the screen......

Can you imagine this? - Liz says: "Jack, it would never have worked out between us". Jack: "Don't be so sure about that"(aloud): "Gentlemen, prepare yourself, in a while we will be chased by FD... but only till Sunset". He looks at Lizzie and smiles. She opens her mouth not knowing what to say. Jack (aloud) to Will: "Mr Turner, we have a problem here. It's seems to me that the roles have been switched. You get the immortality so I get the girl. Barbarossa is not the captain of my ship so the marriage is not valid". Will shouts at him: "You're a bastard jack" and tell his people to chase the Black Pearl but his father puts hand on Will's arm and says: "Let the girl go, it's better this way". Will understands that his father is right. He shouts: "Jack, if you don't take care of her well, I'll kill you". Jack smiles and says (in a very serous way) "I promise". Lizzie shouts to Will: "Goodbye".
(Will doesn't give her his heart, he has it with him on the ship)
Meanwhile Barbarossa looks through the map, points the fountain of youth. He says: "Since it's been stated that Mrs Turner is no longer Mrs Turner, can we go back to serious matters, please?"Everyone looks at him. He shows the map.
After credits: Will comes back, his father says: "Now that Calypso has found another Captain (we can see Norrie by the helm 😉) what will you do with your life? "Will: "I must check if Jack kept his promise". (the story can be ended here😉) Then we see Liz going to welcome Will, a kid is running in front of her, after a while we see Jack walking a few meters behind her. Liz says: "Did I make it up to you what I've done ...?" Jack: "I'm not sure, keep trying". He smiles, she kisses him.

I have so many endings in my mind how I thought AWE was going to play out....

Back before AWE actually came out a few of us had some grand ideas and we were so sure that it was going to go a certain way, but alas, we were so very wrong. Well, deep in the darkest corners of my mind it ended exactly as I thought it would, the part I keep surpressed lest I have nightmares.......

Anyway, based on spoilers, leaked scripts, rumors and clips that were gathered here and at KTTC, .....this is what we had come up with:

We knew Elizabeth was telling Jack bye at the end of the battle,
We knew that Will and her were going to be married by Barbossa....
(for awhile, though, there was some speculation that Liz and Jack were to be married against their will at the Pirate Brethren, beings that would be the only way she would be allowed to be King and take part...before we knew Soa had given her his peice of eight....)

We thought that the scene in Tortuga was Jack telling his old life with strumpets goodbye, and that Gibbs gives him the dukes and wishes him well in his quest to go after Elizabeth.

We thought that look on his face as he turned away from Gibbs was a look of determination in his quest to claim Lizzy and the Pearl.

We had several theories: one being that Liz shows up in Tortuga and steals the Pearl so Jack would have to come after her, but he thinks it's Barbossa.

We were counting on thebelief that Will would realize how much Jack loves Elizabeth when he sacrificed his own immortality for her and him, and would realize that it would not be fair to have her wait 10 years for him and that he had his own destiny now as Captain of the Flying Dutchman and that he would gracioulsy release Liz from their vows...it would be tearful but in the end she would see it was for the best and she would finally face the reality that her heart truly lies with Jack.

So it would end with Jack getting in the dingy going after The Pearl, and that in the dingy would be some clue to let him know that Elizabeth was indeed the one that took the Pearl....and then we see Elizabeth as captain, leading the Pearl away.

Then we would have the flash ahead to the 10 years....with the boy and Elizabeth, and then Jack coming up from behind and them waiting to greet their old friend Will Turner......

yeah, i have major problems with the end on account that there are 2 very different explanations.

The explanation supported by the film, the story of Jones and Tia, and all the dialogue explaining the curse, implies that Will is now captain forever, and can come ashore once every ten years to be with Elizabeth. As in, for the rest of their lives, they will only see each other once every ten years. which is more or less the most terrible ending they could have come up with... no one's happy, Elizabeth is single forever, the kid has no dad, etc.

The other explanation (which I think someone got from t and t on wordplayer) suggests that if Elizabeth is faithful to him for the first 10 years, Will will be released from his duties and be free after the first 10 years. Well, that's a mite better, but the problem with this is, it's completely unfounded on anything in the film. NOTHING in the film would suggest this ending, at all. Either they left out a few too many important scenes explaining this, or they just made it up after it was done to try and make it all seem less bleak.

I didn't read spoilers before seeing AWE. When I was in the cinema I was counting that Will would release her from votes (like you after reading spoilers). I was almost sure of that but it didn't happen. The worst was the scene on the beach and after the credits. I just couldn't believe my eyes...

I love the idea of Liz taking The Black Pearl. I'd love to see it. Jack would be so surprised 😄 Why didn't they think about it? It would be a much better ending than the one they came up with.

katelovespirate If the scene with explanation is really cut, they will give it on DVD, however if they make it up, there won't give it. That's what I think, maybe I'm wrong.
I would like to have an alternative ending with Jack and Liz together but this would destroy the theory of Will being released thanks to Liz's faithfulness so it's hardly likely they will give us this kind of an alternative ending... 🙁 Probably there will be a funny scene with a parrot or something like that...

okay...bottom line is this...Johnny should have never made Jack Sparrow look at Elizabeth Swann the way he did, or behave towards her the way he did in DMC...then, perhaps we wouldn't be these lost souls searching and searching..for what we'll never know.....that final scene aboard the Pearl in DMC should have been portrayed differently if they didn't want us thinking that maybe, just maybe Elizabeth does love Jack and Jack loves her (I have no doubt though, that Jack loves Elizabeth)

OMG joanjoan? Tigers? I LOVE YOUR ENDINGS. I love the idea of Lizzie taking the Pearl..wouldn't that be grand?
And I always had that image that if Will let Elizabeth go he would tell Jack he would kill him if he hurt Elizabeth.

Kate...I'v been wondering that too. In the movie it's like being the captain of the FD is a lifetime duty. When they saw the bodies in the water Tia said it was the duty Calypso gave Davy Jones...and that he could come a shore EVERY ten years. not AFTER ten years but EVERY ten years.
