Unfortunately, savvy, the DMC commentary says that the compass was pointing to the chest the entire time because the deal when she's on the beach is that she is kind of walking in a triangle around the chest and that's why it seems that it's moving on her. When she sits, since she sits on the chest, it stays still.

But the whole point is that her imagination told her it was pointing to Jack. She would automatically assume it was pointing to the chest and Jack was just in the line of the path if she didn't feel anything for him.

I don't know. Everyone's different with the couples they like. Selina, I loved Batman Returns because of the chemistry between Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Keaton, but some people I know didn't see it that way. Hence different ships. I didn't know the reference of your name until I saw your sig and that brought back a lot of good memories.

Michelle and Michael had it going on but I respect people not thinking so but then again who were they gonna ship him with if they weren't on the Selina and Bruce ship? Bruce and Oswald 😆

I'd love to see Johnny and Keira in another movie.....and I agree....the no chemistry between Chritina and Johnny...was mostly her fault, she's not all that great of an actress.....but she was matched up against the best actor in the world, Johnny Depp!

anyways...back to Sparrabeth....

I love Sparrabeth..and I will never get over it......!'

I was thinking about AWE...and it's weird how little sparrabeth we got in that film..the few pics/clips we have are so breathtaking and heartwrenching...

If only another movie did follow AWE, a continuation, because in AWE we do get something the other two don't give us and that's stolen glances. These two are constantly, constantly looking at each other and even after their relationship is almost ruined, they focus so hard on the other one when they're in a scene together, at least most of the time. They can't take their eyes off each other.

oh MizLovesTT, nice combo Mr. Depp on the siggy--I'm feeling Miz Savvy is dead on with Kate Winslett--she didn't come across too much as girlfriend of Barrie though--more like she got to have yet another 'boy'--

Christina Ricci, now there be some smooth bland white bread--
Y'all all know I like free standing Elisabeth Swann.

And MizS&B (she became Catwoman? More's the pity that--only one Julie Newmar!)you know, you're probably right, but "all this pales to utter insignificance" when you consider how we love to love those what we love. Oh, and the rum.

OMG...very chilling video...this video made me so sad...so sad that Sparrabeth was such a tragic love story....two hearts meant to be together.....fate kept bringing them together...yet, still they denied what was right in front of their faces.....but is their story really over?.......I love Jack and Elizabeth...they are the true and utter romance of the Pirates of the Caribbean......

and another version...such a chilling and haunting song...

Haunting! Beautiful, although I like the second one better. Such a deep song.

Wow, that song. haha

ah... that's one of my all time favorite songs. i was wondering when someone would J/E it... sigh...

but it pointed to Jack after Persuasion, because it points to back of ship so they would sail in bad direction, so how would they find the chest?

What a mournful song! Long live sparrabeth. Johnny definitely has chemistry with Keira, that's why there are more sparrabethers. IMO, of all his movies, his chemistry with Keira is the strongest. Maybe becos' she reminds me of Winona Ryder. I'm a Johnny-Winona shipper.

AGH!

If there are more people who ship Sparrabeth, and such an OBVIOUS chemistry, when WHY didn't it happen in AWE?

I mean, J and E won an AWARD for their relationship in DMC!

So WHY?! How could TandT not see how much better and amazing it would be? I want to know why they went the willabeth route. I want to know their reasoning.

RAWR! *angst*

PS. I love that song, and those videos.

Miz aelizabeth, lovely lovely banner, ducks--did you form it so? Oh, OT BTW, my apology.

Kate...I believe in you girl! And I can tell you that in my heart of hearts and in my mind...I truly truly believe that Jack and Elizabeth get together. Why else would that little boy stand there on that cliff singing their song and wearing a replica of Jack's hat......I'm telling you...the more I think about it the more I'm convinced that it was Ted and Terry's way of letting us Sparrabethers' know they had not forgot about us......they know how analytical we are and how deep we dig to look for answers........I think what happens during the unknown ten years...just a few weeks after Will goes to the great beyond..he somehow gets message to Lizzy that it's okay for her to go on with her life....he lets her know that he'll be okay, that she no longer has to worry about him, or to look after him...that he has found his true destiny....so she goes in search of Jack.....and finds him on yet another adventure...searching for the Fountain of Youth without the Pearl!......We can all imagine what will happen next......

I've yet to even buy the DVD...I only saw the movie that one time in the theatre.....a day that left me so depressed I have yet to step foot into a theatre again....although I'm wanting to this month...to see a little muscial I've heart rumor about.....but it's kind of gory and bloody but there's a really hot and sexy man in it...with the initials J. D.

I agree with you..its too weird that they were singing Jack's song together and he had a hat similar to Jack's and that TT said the boy would be a younger version of Jack Sparrow.

Terry also said (on Wordplayer somewhere before AWE came out) the surprise ending isn't clear cut, he said it could be the answer to three things not one.

IMO:
1. Will's son
or
2. Jack's son
or
3. jack after finding the fountain of youth.

doesn't Jack leave singing that song and then its Liz and the boy singing that song

even in the script I had..the boy was NEVER given a name, even though he's called William Jr in the credits, in the script itself, he has NO name, even in the final script he didnt have a name..how curious..

Spoiler, ducks, don't think the fountain of youth sends you back to nappies--unlike the bugs cartoons--think it just sustains you at the level you be--I'll research cos I could be wrong--I believe that accounts for my own 🙄 😄 'youthful appearence'--trip when I was twelve.

there are different theories with the fountain of youth

in some stories it turns you back into a child, it depends how long someone stays in there

in AWE they also brought up the lack of parents theme in Jack's life..

could be significant..or just another annoying pointless scene added that doesnt mean anything to anything..which seems to be TT's specialty..

for example an entire film based on Jack/Liz relaionship. Or maybe it really WAS significant..we'll have to wait and see

I think T and T took the absolute best route if you really examine the story thematically even though they did a sloppy job getting there.

hm, yes. That's true.

Let me reword what i said. I actually thought that the story in AWE was really good. I thought it was a good movie too. Some people didn't like the movie at all, but I thought it was decent. My only problem is, I had spent so much time building up Sparrabeth, that when they didn't get any closure, it made the movie so much less than I had hoped. All I really wanted was for them to be friends at the end, and that didn't even seem to happen. I sort of built the movies up on romance, which is not all that their about. In fact, I just watched AWE minutes ago, and payed less attention to the relationships, since I already knew what happened. It's a good movie. Really good, which I didn't notice as well before as a cause of my obsessive sparrabethness.

Are they really making a pirates 4? The fear I have with them making more movies is that it'll lose the original spark. They already were losing it a tiny bit in the 2nd and 3rd films, but they were still really good. If they do a good job, it'll be nice to see some more pirates, but if they mess up, it'll be a disaster.

I agree, I would be afraid that the spark would be gone too. My worst fear would be that they would turn it into a one man show with just Jack and have it as a big slapstick piece. Yeah, it would be funny and I'd probably go see it, but it wouldn't be the same as the magic we got in COTBP.

Pirates 3 was terrible to me. I think people wanted entirely too much from Sparrabeth which was never anything more than a tease in a movie series I thought it was quite obvious they'd never wind up together. But I come on line and see different ideas and I'm really confused. I had no idea people wanted Captain Jack Sparrow with Liz nor could I reconcile why. I really ignored Pirates and all the hype when it first came out so this is all a new experience to me.

But overall thematically I think the ending made sense even if it is not what some people wanted it's obvious that's where the story was headed. The movie started out with Elizabeth and Will I thought it fitting in a closure sense that it ended with him too.

I'd actually like an entire movie for Captain Jack Sparrow. They could get members of his crew to play the foils to his personality that Will and Elizabeth played from time to time so he could still be restrained from becoming too over the top if the writers did it correctly.

I'd also like to see him in a fling besides with wenches.
