also, I didnt really like the idea of leaving that movie knowing Will and Elizabeth are safe in the future, but Jack...

unless that is Jack then we would have known that he didnt die, or if its his son we would know that he didnt die

^^^Exactly...
and really, ladies, girls, no one could have a more narrow mind than me...I'm about as straight laced as you can get....
but I still think the kid could be jack's...
I'm not saying it 100% is, but I still think there is some kind of message....
a sign in the fact that there are only three people in this trilogy that ever sang that song...
the song that we all know from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride....."yo-ho-yo-ho I Pirate's Life For Me"....
1) Lizzy learned it as a young girl...Potc starts out with the audience hearing her singing it before we even see her through the fog....
2) When she is older and she meets the infamous Jack Sparrow..she teaches him the song...and then they dance and sing it together..."I'll teach it to the entire crew and we will sing it all the time".......on rum runner's island....
3) As Jack sails off into the horizon at the end of POTC1 he starts to hum it and then sing it....and you know that he must be thinking of Lizzy..she has him vexed...she outsmarted him at his own game....and she taught him that song...."I love this song!" "Drink up me hearties yo-ho...and really bad eggs!"...and he looks at that compass...."Now show me that horizon"....
4) Then at the end of AWE......Jack is back on his own in the dingy...he has the map of the FOY, he has his compass and he has his bottle of rum..and then once again as he sails off into the horizon we hear him start singing "Drink up me hearties, Yo-ho"......
5) After the movie is over, the credits have rolled...we hear a young child's voice singing "Yo-ho yo-ho A Pirates Life For Me"...and we learn that it is Elizabeth and what appears to be her son...10 years later...the child has on a replica of Jack's hat....will is returning for his one day on land.....

three people sang that song...Elizabeth, Jack and the boy......
never once did Will even hear the song....much less know how it goes.....
Just a curious thing that's all.....

i have to stick to my ship. And my ship says the kid belongs to Jack. Maybe, I just have this funny urge to see Jack as a father.

i mean, since they brought HIS father into film 3, it's only right that he gets a kid.

Me Too...Kate....I'm not giving up on my ship...I believe with all my heart that the kid is Jack's.....

I'm a Sparrabether but I think the kid is Will's.

Will isn't dead and he isn't alive. He's in between. Which means T & T can make up whatever un dead rules they want. haha

And I seriously doubt it is Jack because one: It's not Johnny Depp. How can you make sequels about a kid pretending to be Johnny Depp? You can't. No one would watch it 🙂

And plenty of people get pregnant from their honeymoons lol

i mean, it's just hard for me to believe the whelp could impregnate Lizzie on the first try. They are both virgins, as far as we are aware... it just seems to be assuming an awful lot. can i say that? is that inappropriate?

Miz Kateloves, have you compared by any chance the hat on Elisabeth in your banner and the child's hat--they look pretty similar to me. Course if I've seen one tricornered hat, I probably think I've seen 'em all lol.

On the two virgins and getting with child: Timing is everything. You only have to introduce the two principals once in the right conditions and it be a baby in 9. They seemed young and healthy, that always helps. I'm sure given the y&h, they might have held congress more than once. Just a thought, and the other thing is life will find a way. It's a given--flowers growing up through concrete.

All I'm saying is we definitely know Liz and Will had sex (although I'm sure it was unsatisfying and short) and can only guess/hope/speculate/wonder if she had sex with Jack (which I'm sure would have been spectacular and amazing and after a while of fuzzy cuddling, the whole thing would have began again).

Facts. Kate, just to scold you a little bit, lol, there are no rules to a ship except that you like the couple you ship. And even if the kid is Will's, why is that bad for our ship? Will's cursed anyway and I'm sure Jack could love a child he didn't father. There are all kinds of blended families back then as there are now so who's to say this kid isn't going to get a whole mess of half-siblings?

I'm not giving on up my ship either.I agree it can be Jack's child. The first time I saw that scene I thought why is the kid wearing such a hat.Does it mean anything? So i'm suspicious.I know they wouldn't admit it but maybe Ted,Terry or who ever made two possiblities and left it up to us to guess...

hehehe wow... suddenly everyone has some strong opinions on the kid that gets 2 seconds of screentime... 😉

nah, I'm not really bothered. I always said before the kid was Will and Liz's, but really, it's more fun to argue the other way. Just like it was always more fun to argue that Wendy actually went back to Neverland with Peter and that Laurie didn't marry Amy. I think that's why I enjoy Sparrabeth so much. I don't like to follow the facts. Improbability is what makes it fun and intriguing because you actually have to look for things and use your imagination.

"Mess of half-siblings" - lol, great Willo!

Now I've got this funny image in mind: Elizabeth and Will Jr. standing and cuddling on that hilltop, cut to Will's beaming (bleh) face on the Dutchman as he comes closer...suddenly...there is a change in his expression...one of shock....<cut to Lizzie Fam Cam> A whole slew of kids headed by none other than <theme music> Captain Jack Sparrow are streaming down the mountain to Lizzie and lil'Whelp. Lil'whelp runs over to his mess of half-siblings and starts happydancing because his real dad finally showed up, and they all start screaming and having a good old time like kids do. Jack walks up to lizzie and shouts "Thought a walk would be nice" and kisses her on the cheek. <cut to Whelp Cam> Will's jaw drops at even the chaste kiss. <cut to Lizzie Fam Cam> Lizzie yells at Jack that she told him to stay in the bloody house and points at the horizon, Jack looks surprised and looks out to the horizon (guided by her outstretched hand) and yells "That was TODAY? Why didn't you write me a note?!?!?! You know I can't half hear with this brood about! <insert nice sparrabeth fun-squabble here> <cut to Whelp Cam> *keels over*

Lol...well, something like that anyway 😛

Ha ha, very true. Ugh, Laurie with Amy of all people. But that's another story.

Seriously, does this kid know about all the hype he's caused? Would we even recognize him if he was in another movie? I have no idea!

GAHHHH!!!

You all have *got* to see this vid, it gave me chills!

wow... that person is an editing GENIUS... really, that was phenomenal. i'm blown away.

every time i watch that final post-credits scene, here are my thoughts:

Elizabeth's vest is so unfortunate, it's all I think about for a few seconds. I feel badly she had to put it on. it's sad.

This is me analyzing a performance, not being a whiny sparrabether: Elizabeth doesn't look that excited. I mean, she doesn't look like a girl who is in love and is waiting on the cliff for her true love to reappear after years of heartbreaking separation. She doesn't look like she's waited years for this moment, or planned it out a thousand times. We've all seen Keira look totally thrilled with passion or excited beyond belief in various films, but that anticipation, that spark, just isnt there. She looks happy, content, but-- now watch it closely-- she looks almost entirely caught up in the kid and HIS reaction to the moment. If I hadn't seen the film, and was watching from a purely performance standpoint, I'd say she was introducing her son to his rightful father, but that she wasn't in love with that father and saw this event as a pleasant diversion from life but not the fulfillment of her every waking thought for the past ten years...

i think this goes along with WIllo's supposition that Elizabeth moves on with her life after Will leaves--- she takes up her role as Pirate King, raises her son, moves on with her life. I really don't know whether she moved on romantically or not, i dont think that matters. I think the point is, in this scene, Elizabeth really does look like she's found an identity apart from Will and you can see that.

Just compare it to Will's look--- you can TELL this is all he's thought about every moment of every day for 10 years. I guess that's the nature of the curse.

But I digress. My point with that long ramble was this: I really, really wonder what Keira did to prepare for that scene. I wonder what story she settled on in her mind as the solution. Because as an actor, she'd have more of the story from the writers (unless they liked to confuse her as much as they liked to confuse us) and she would have done a ton of preparation to decide what story to go with in order to bring the right performance, motivation, emotion, etc, to that scene. The way it plays, I think Keira went with a slightly different story than die-hard willabethers might hope.

Why was there no damn commentary?!?!

It would be interesting to know everyone's opinion of what really happened between the point where will leaves her and the final scene. I agree that Kiera must have some idea, because after all, it is the final scene of the whole trilogy.

I haven't checked for commentary. There isn't one? Well, that's suprising...they had it in the other two. I really would like to hear some opinions from the people who made this movie. How were the bonus features, by the way? Were they any good?

I agree Kate, and I think that is a good point for us sparrabethers - she seems happy, content and only excited in the sense that she's happy for her kid to meet his dad. I agree that she *has* moved on with life, she probably still cares for Will, but her love might've cooled or fizzled over time with no contact. She's a single working mom, lol -I definitely think she's moved on - excellent analysis 😉

That vid was amazing, huh? I could just watch it over and over and over and over.....(X100) 😛

Wow, Kate. Let me watch that final scene again and get back to you. I watch things without the sound on when I really want to analyze.

Okay, here are my thoughts.

Will: I agree. Will looks thrilled, relieved, and even a little horny all in that one look. It makes me wish he was free and wouldn't have to go back out.

Junior: This kid is the best kid in all the POTC series. He seems a little nervous, jittery to meet his dad and I think that's why he's singing. Then that green flash and he looks at his mom and he looks freakin' excited! Dad!

Elizabeth: Now, I'll agree she looks calm and that may be Keira's way of trying to appear older. She's not running like a little kid. She's walking, savoring what's happening. I like that she brings her son closer to her so they're holding each other when they see the flash. Her face looks calm, and I do think her love for him as settled a little, but settled into what most couples settle into. The passion dies down a little, but the friendship and closeness goes up. We saw how they were before and it seemed like Liz was more into sex than Will was and it seems a little reversed. Women can go longer without sex than men can and assuming she was physically faithful, she's probably more looking forward to her friendship with Will than anything else-- an adult to talk to, confide in, do things with. She looks excited when she sees the flash, like maybe the moment was surreal to her before. I think she's more jittery inside than outside.

So I kind of agree. She seems more excited for her son than for herself, but I think that's because her passion has died down a little, and if she knows Will will only be there for one day, she's going to want to take things slow and really feel every moment.
