I didn't like the ending at all - I would've felt a lot better with a bit of Sparrabeth closure, but even if I didn't get that, at least a happier ending. Will chained to the giant fish-mobile for eternity leaving poor Lizzie as a single mom? Bleh. I like to go with Kate and Willo's theory that the writers were totally high when they wrote that 😛

I agree Sparrabeth didn't get any closure at all but in some sense I am glad because it never would have been what I wanted anyway.
okay S and B... this thread is for sparrabeth fans to enjoy and discuss sparrabeth. if you want to bash it, please do so on another thread. i don't want to be a b*tch or anything, but i just cant handle the negativity. so your opinions are valid, but please don't use the sparrabeth thread to voice them. we sparrabethers stay off the willabeth thread unless we have something nice to say, and we'd appreciate the same consideration.

I think people are confusing someone not gushing endlessly about the amazingness of Sparrabeth as them being negative. I came in here because people were conversing in here but I will leave if my "negativity" is making it so unpleasant for others.
i hated the ending.
And what confused everyone even more was the little easter egg at the end with liz and will jr watching will return....
now then, about 95% of the audience would watch that and think:
"AWWWW! so he did come back to her!"
but thats not what is actually happening, and thats why im really angry about the ending. The writers make it look as if will is going back to them forever, when in fact hes going back for (how long?? 1 day??) a short time and then hes sailing off for 10 years!!!!!
if anything they should have ended it without the easter egg.
that way they would have ended the film with all of the characters on their own ...exactly how they started, and WITHOUT some irritating little child trapped in the middle of it all.

haha... there are plenty of forum members who don't gush about sparrabeth. that's not what i meant at all. i was just getting depressed about the endless elizabeth-bashing. i really make an effort to be kind to the whelp or other characters i dont absolutely love. so, that's pretty much what i meant.

I came here because this was the most active thread and I thought it was just discussing Sparrabeth as a whole and any opinions on them were welcome not that it was just a fan thread so I apologize to anyone I made this thread unpleasant for that was not my intention at all just to have a conversation.

Yes..it ends with jack singing that song...and then after credits picks up with a young boy's voice singing the song which turns out to be Elizabeth and her son on the scene......and his hat is a replica of Jack's hat....it is a very curious thing, I tell you. The trilogy begins with Liz singing the song......then in COTBP Liz teaches it to Jack on Rum Runner's Island..and they dance and sing it into the wee hours of the night......then we here it again at the end..Jack is singing it as he looks at the compass and says "now show me that horizon"......then again at the end of AWE Jack sings it in his dingy...and then Liz's son is singing it at the very end....very curious...it's a secret message from Ted and Terry....
i absolutely think so... because Will has never even heard that song.. Lizzie never taught it to Will, and really, even after film 3, no one can classify Will as a true pirate. And the kid is wearing Jack's hat, or a replica.
So unless Jack just coincidentally helped raise the kid and made him to be a Jack Jr-esque type kid, I'd bet it's Jack and Lizzie's.
i mean, it's just hard for me to believe the whelp could impregnate Lizzie on the first try. They are both virgins, as far as we are aware... it just seems to be assuming an awful lot. can i say that? is that inappropriate?
I just don't think it's Jack's song. I think it's Elizabeth's song. Also, how is it Jack's hat? It just looks like a regular tri-corn to me. Not trying to be a downer here, but I think there are problems with all of the options T&T gives us.
1. Will's son
a. It's the most obvious answer, yet why is it purposely vague?
b. Why doesn't the kid have a name?
c. Why doesn't he look a little bit like Will instead of a mini-boy-Elizabeth?
2. Jack's son
a. We see that Will and Liz have had sex, but not her and Jack. It's a stretch since we can't go by what we didn't see or weren't given clues to.
b. The curse itself: if she had sex with Jack, is there a possibility something would happen to Will automatically for her faithlessness? If not, why does it seem like such a happy ending for Will? His is technically the last face we see and it looks happy.
c. The hat is just a hat.
d. "A Pirate's Life For Me" is Liz's song that she shared with Jack. But this does imply Jack has at least seen and spent time with this kid.
3. Young Jack
a. There is no way Jack would want to be a pre-pubescent kid. He would probably choose to stay in his 30s.
b. Jack typically doesn't get what he wants, so why get the Fountain of Youth?
c. Why even be there the day Will got back? I don't think he's that selfish he wouldn't give Liz and Will a proper private reunion.
d. If Jack went to the fountain of youth, this just means there is a little Barbossa running around and that is plain disturbing.
So based on what makes the most sense, I'm going to say it's Will's kid.

I'm still iffy about who the kid's dad is - if Will is dead, he can't have live cells and can't impregnate Lizzie, meaning that the kid could be Jack's or someone else's.
One of you (I can't remember who) made a good point about the impregnating on the first time...its possible (as much as it pains me to think about it) that Will came back and he and Lizzie got to spend time together through Davy's Bucket Trick...that or she would just wade out into the water maybe?
