Yes, I agree - Jack's way of calling her Lizzie shows that they've got something special. Its a pet name, but its so symbolic imo. They see each other for what they truly are, underneath all the smoke and mirrors. They see the faults, the terrmoil, the passion and a glimpse of their true natures that lie beneath their exteriors. Its like every time (in my mind at least) that Jack calls her Lizzie, its a reminder of that connection they share, reminding her of who she really is.I think that while Lizzie doesn't always trust herself around Jack, she is more herself around Jack than anyone else...

One thing that Jaeh and I noticed the other day (as we were talking about clips for a Lizzie/everyone she has a relationship with video I was making) that there are no willabeth cuddling clips at all. Can anyone think of any? The only clip there is of Lizzie cuddling anyone is on a fire lit beach under the caribbean stars, with darling miss lizzie snuggled up against a loveable rogue with a flashing grin.

Ha ha, you're right. POTC doesn't provide a lot of time for cuddling, except for an awkward off-screen sex scene... But all we see is the two of them on their island in each other's arms. Maybe post AWE they have more nights like that.

Or what about the Ma-rri-age scene...Lizzie and Jack get a little close n comfy there too, when they r on the stairs!

or when Lizzie holds on tightly to Jack's leg when he shoots the barrels of gunpowder to destroy the Kraken!

and lets not forget the parachute scene!!! Very close there too (maybe not intimate like some ppl like to joke, but sweet)

There aren't very many times when Lizzie stands back behind Will and lets him save her. She usually fights next to Will, takes his place or saves him...lol But with Jack, Elizabeth's hard exterior sometimes detriorates and she allows herself to sometimes play the role of Damsel in Distress and lets Jack save her.

Sometimes I get the feeling that Elizabeth doesnt fully trust Will to handle situations by himself so she takes it upon herself to interfere or do everything in her power to help him. It's like she always feels like she needs to protect him! But with Jack, even though knowing he is a pirate, there is a level of trust that she has in Jack that she doesnt seem to have for Will. Like she knows that Jack would not let any true harm come to her and that he will get them out of any situation.

Like in DMC when Liz tells Will, "I have faith in you. In BOTH of you." meaning Will and Jack. She couldn't just give Will a glorious moment before having to correct herself and throw Jack in the list of ppl she trusts! Especially in a moment between Liz and Will that was suppose to be an intimate one, I mean why bring up another man?! ugh! anywhoo having faith in Will is a statement which she later contradicts by going after Will and making sure that the job he was set out to do gets done, Which she does better by the way, considering she finds Jack, takes possesion of the compass and kills him!

Yeah, I think you've really hit on something there when you talk about Lizzie not quite trusting Will to take charge of the situation. It makes even more sense if we look at her first impressions of both men:

1) Will: Her first instinct with Will is protection. He's the poor little lad adrift at sea that needs her motherly attention. She feels protective of him, responsible for him. I don't think she ever really outgrows that - maybe a good portion of their "love" is her feeling responsible for looking out for him combined with some level of underlying affection? But you're completely right Diva, she *is* always fighting at his side, watching his back, never being vulnerable in front of him.

2) Jack: When she first meets Jack, he's already saving her, pulling her out of the water, doing what the other men wouldn't have done (taking her dress and corset off so she could breathe and eventually saving her because of it). And from then on, like you say, she does let herself take the more vulnerable role around Jack sometimes, maybe because she knows that he can handle it, whereas she doesn't trust Will as much. In the COTBP deleted scene they have that whole wonderful "I don't really trust you *smirk*" scene, but the subtext is simply screaming "but I think I really do trust you, understand you and relate to you".

Not sure if that made any sense at all, i'm very tired lol.

Lol! I noticed that too, like if Jack would just lean his head back a little bit, it would be resting on her chest. It's a beautiful intimate moment between them.

I totally get the idea that Elizabeth sort of views Will as a little kid. The trio seems to have a system where Jack looks out for Elizabeth, she looks out for Will, and Will unwillingly looks after Jack.

Sure thing about Liz letting Will grow up. Sure, he didn't really do anything in COTBP and she thought it was cute he turned pirate and came to rescue her, but after that, I think he proved he could take care of himself. You'd think if he taught her how to fight that she would see that in a pirate world, she needs taken care of more than he does just because she's newer to that world and was further away from it to start. Not saying Liz isn't a good pirate or fighter, but if she had stopped thinking "Oh Will needs help," she might have been kidnapped/almost died a lot less.

Yes, I thought the same, seeing that scene. They are so much alike and they do trust themselves 😉
and why in the first movie ? when she lay down in her bed, talking with her whatever she is called, when the girl mentioned that she'd been threatened by a pirate, Lizzie somehow looks as if she was thinking of him or dreaming about him. why did they create such a scene? Just to set us on a wrong track?
I still belive that Will's just like a brother to her, or somehow she's used to. But Jack, in my opinion she loves him.

Yes, that's an intriguing scene. Just what is Liz thinking about there. Her mind is not on James or Will, that's for sure. They are both after-thoughts and being rescued by Jack was no-never-mind to her...she's just a hot-blooded virgin, and it's almost as if she had a sexual experience with Jack during their first meeting. He's gotten to touch her in ways that James and Will never had the opportunity had and their interaction is sexually charged and just oozes chemistry. It's like he's a manifestation of her fantasies. I don't know why T&T put that in. Any thoughts?

Me neither. For me all the things between Lizzie and Jack make no sense at all. I mean if they just wanted to tease us, one or twor scenes would be enough, but especially all thoses scenes in the first movie betweem the two are so touching, so intensiv. I just cant't understand that they, in my opinion, ruined the third movie.

Somebody--Anybody--they are showing DMC on USA and there are all kinds of little bits I've not seen before--Johnny in the makeup chair getting his beard put on--and other such coolness that I am so pleased. Man, I came in on the curiousity scene and then the big sword fight. God do I love this movie or what!! SOMEBODYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!Going to be on Sunday night too!

Oh man, I am beyond buggered now--the Pearl just got sucked down to the locker and Jones just found out that the heart is gone--Norrington is being shown into Beckett--the heart is now in Beckett's hands. Ohmygoodness--how devastating how absolutely dreadful--the Pearl is gone from this world as is the one, the beloved--man I had forgotten how dire--against the cold and the sorrow, Tia Dalma says--what will you do to bring back witty Jack and him precious Pearl?

My word, I'm eat up all over again, years later and the whole nine yards just sends me over the edge.

I'm loving how DMC is advertised on USA. I'm watching COTBP right now while I'm fixing my vaccuum and entertaining the wee one.

"Orlando may have the sword and Johnny may have the make up, but Keira's got the chest." And then it shows her bending over the dead man's chest.

You know, I've seen the movies advertised before, and it usually says, "Now returning to POTC with Orlando Bloom" or "We return to POTC starring Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley." Normally this wouldn't be weird except that when the Star Wars movies are advertised on the USA network it says "We now return to Star Wars starring Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher" or just has Mark Hamill's name in it. Now, any Star Wars fan knows Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher play a couple and Luke is the hero. Well, it seems USA seems to think Jack and Elizabeth are the couple here too. What good taste.
