Piratista WilloftheWisp!! This is a good thang we are doing that's what I say. I was totally gobsmacked yesterday evening when I saw the little extra bits that got included in the DMC--made me long for commericals cos they paired up the extra footage with those. Clever chit, you are--to notice the pairing setup on the intros back--will this be then the first time that CJ (C.J.?) seen the movie as an independent? God love him, his first word will be saavy won't it? Back to the bits--there was the makeup lady who was gluing on his chin hairs and beard--damn, I would have had to have been in a straight jacket--so close to the lovely mouth and eyes and touching allowed and and and .....no control absolutely none I'm thinkin'

Ohmygoodness--how devastating how absolutely dreadful--the Pearl is gone from this world as is the one, the beloved--man I had forgotten how dire--against the cold and the sorrow, Tia Dalma says--what will you do to bring back witty Jack and him precious Pearl?

My word, I'm eat up all over again, years later and the whole nine yards just sends me over the edge.

So eloquently put. It was devastating. Especially when you know their fate. So much potential..so little satisfaction. That's what I call devastating. Oh Norrington, say it ain't so...Please!

DMC was such a great movie. AWE was a disaster. I've accepted the ending of AWE but I'm still highly disappointed in the overall finished product. I had a momentary lapse where I said I thought it was good and I liked it...and I did...it just could have been so much more...it could have been the greatest movie ever.
🙁

I agree hun! It had so much more potential! *sighs*

lol...Tigers u made my jaw drop when I read an earlier post of urs saying AWE was good after rewatching it a second time...lol! I was like wow the extended leave of absence really meddled with her brain..lol!! I figured u to be the last 1 to ever admitt AWE was any good (well beside the Jack parts of course) lol!

yeah, I know...Shocking isn't it? Yep, momentary lapse there. Now its been several weeks since seeing it..and I'm back to hating it. I only like the Jack and Liz moments...which are far and few between and the implied Sparrabeth ending...but the rest of the movie...burn it! LOL

I have the dvd of AWE but I didn't see it a long time ago.I watched DMC so many times...

Lol, burn it. I do like the music of AWE, though. Has anyone had the idea to actually time the amount of time Jack and Liz spend together versus the amount of time she and Will do? Just like have a stopwatch and time the scenes. As a control, time how much Will and Jack are along together just to establish a base. I bet you anything Jack and Liz have more screen time together than she and Will do. And yet we're to root for her and Will? What do we even see of them? We missed the most interesting times in their relationship, which would be all the time before COTBP and between COTBP and DMC where they sword fight and get engaged. All we have are schoolboy-girl crushes and then one miscommunication after another. Time it out, someone. You wait and see.

Well, you're right. It's so boring to see them. But we'll see kind of when they get engaged. It's after Will frees Jack from the noose, alright it's not made obviously. I find it soo unromantical to see them together. Well, let's forget AWE and dream about how our ending would have been! That's the only comfort we have.

And one more question? What is this for a Disney Happy End? I mean, alright, she has married Will, but I wouldn't want a life where I could see my husband one day every ten years? It's just soo far away from reality...I mean a pirate would be the better choice over a eunuch which I could see so rarly!

(sorry for the double post)

Don't sweat the double post. We had a "colleague" come on here and post like 11, 12 times not so long ago.

Disney is trying to give the audience a "grown up" ending, much like it tried to do when it made Pocahontas, which is a whole other mess entirely. The problem is that people don't want "grown up" endings when it comes to Disney. They want the escapism, the romance, the ultimate adventure that turns out into a happy ending. That's the whole "dreams come true" bit. But when Disney tries to be adult with movies like Crimson Tide, Pocahontas, and AWE, they overcompensate and give us bittersweet endings that really don't have any sweet elements at all. No one is happy at the end of AWE, not the sparrabethers, not the willabethers, not even the norribethers. I really wonder why this ending was thought of and who thought of it, if it was T&T or Disney, or a combination.

Holy crap! Look what I found trying to find a sea shanty for my fic! Read it and tell me with a straight face you don't think of Jack and Liz when you read it.

It was down by Swansea barracks
one May morning I strayed
A-viewing of the soldier lads
I spied a comely maid,
It was o'er her red and rosy cheeks
the tears did dingle down,
I thought she was some goddess fair,
the lass of Swansea town.

I said, "Fair maid, what brought you here,
what brought you here to mourn?"
"Oh I'm in search of Willie dear,
my bonny young sailor boy,
Eight years ago he left me here
for Bermuda he was bound,
He said he would prove faithful to
the lass of Swansea town."

"If eight years ago he left you
it is useless for to mourn,
For perhaps he is in some battle slain,
or in the ocean drowned."
"Oh God forbid, young man," she said.
"By what token will he be known,
if he ever do return to the
lass of Swansea Town."

"On his left breast he wears a scar
where he received a wound"
"If by that token your Willie is known
it's him I know right well,
The cannon-ball which made him fall
gave him his deathly wound,
He told me to take care of you
the lass of Swansea town."

Soon as she heard him say these words
she fell in deep despair,
Wringing of her lily-white hands
and tearing of her hair,
Saying, "Take me to my Willie,
else give me my death wound,
For no other man will ever enjoy
the lass of Swansea town."

On coming to herself once more up
from the ground she rose,
His waistcoat it blew open and
the scar it did expose.
They walked till they reached his cottage
and there they settled down,
Young Willie of the royal blue and
the lass of Swansea town.

LOOOL! is this even serious? isn't it some little shanty by a sparrabeth fan?
that's brilliant! willie? scar? 8 years? swansea town?

Miz WilloftheWisp, you're not supposed to make your fellow piratistas cry!! Damn, that's so sweet, that he would present himself, unknown to her, and then try to tempt her away from the faith she holds for her Willie boy. That's just about as cool a deal as can be....serendiptious doncha know? Okay, I'm brave, I wasn't really tearing up, got dust in my eyes, yeah, that's it....

Miz Will, hunt up an old Donovan song try Tinker and the Crab...about a widow walking on the beach--one of the lines is "seven years and seven days, no man has seen my woman's ways". It's really pretty and sweet, then runs off to a little song within the song--"Happiness runs in a circular motion, thought is like a little boat upon the sea, all our souls are deeper than you can see, you can have everything if you let yourself be"--okay, 60s, early 70s a lot sweeter time.

No joke! I didn't make it up! Here is the link.

Tex, I will do just that. Isn't it amazing how things connect like that?

The longer I exist here, the more amazing life becomes--Oh and if you get a chance--you tube, Terri Hendrix, If I had a daughter:

This one is more raw--just Terri singing with Lloyd playing.

Think it would work for sons too, and beautiful baby piratisto boys, Miz WilloftheWisp.

Nice song. But it feels more willabeth than sparrabeth.

Well speaking of Sparrabeth vids...I just found an amazing one today. It's a great song and so well put together. Chelsea outdid herself on this one....It's smoking hot...so have a drink near by....LOL..if you listen and look at the words, it fits how we are about Jack and LIzzy...a sparrabeth anthem to be sure! I'll never get over it!

Tigers! Where have you been? We need some serious sparrabeth gushing.

Wow, that's really a fantastic one!!!

*sighs* Im feeling nostalgic...Oh Sparrabeth!

I don't know guys, look at that picture, is it romantic? For me it looks more like if she had realized she had done something comletly wrong and telling him, perhps just my opinion?

@ Pirate Diva: And I really love the kiss, but you should have posted his smile after that as well. I love it so much!!!
