Faster than they eye can see, in short bursts.

He wouldn't have been able to cover that distance, slow down to open the door to get the dog out, and then move back before his cover would have been blown.

Smallville showed him capable of that. When he saved Chloe during the football game.

Also Clark hadn't pushed the limits of his powers yet when Jonathon died. JK didn't want Clark to help because there were too many people around who would witness him using his powers.

He could have ran to the car at a normal person pace, grabbed the dog (tore the door open at this point as nobody would be able to tell from that distance), and run back to the under pass. It was silly the way it happened.

That's because Smallville Clark >>>>>> MOS Clark.

Smallville Clark had true superspeed, as in, he doesn't seem himself as moving fast, but everything else is so slow as to seem frozen in place. He was lightspeed + by feats.

MOS Clark did not display a level of speed like that, he was simply faster than the eye can see in short bursts. It doesn't take all that great a speed to be invisible to the human eye.

The entire scene was shit.

That scene and the tentacle rape are what keeps me from giving the movie a 10/10.

Hmmm, the tentacle scenes didnt bother me. I actually thought it was a pretty cool flying sequence and he showed some strength there. Oh well. 😂

I just feel it wasn't necessary.

without the tentacles, kal-el would have just flown straight through the world engine, though.. plus, a thing of that magnitude and high technology must have a way of defending itself..

it was fine that way it was... Kal shouldn't have expected to just fly thru with the greatest of ease, but once he took care of the tentacles he was fine

Begins budget was 150. Returns was 270...

Not close at all. But just as importantly, Begins was very well received by the public. Returns was not.

oh contraire monfraire,

http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2006/07/02/a-flying-leap.html

from the article where singer states the actual cost:

My production budget on "Superman Returns" was $204 million. The approved budget was $184.5 million. We had projected overages for visual effects, and there was a sequence that I wanted that was going to cost an extra $2.3 million. So the hard, honest number is $204 million.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman_Returns

so yeah, they were close in budget and gross. coming in last minute, you are confused on the argument made by darth power that money determines sequels. which is not always the case. superman returns was actually well received by critics and non comic fans.

They're...really not close at all in gross...MOS is making a crapload more worldwide than returns. It will also end up being making a substantial amount more domesticly. Honestly, what is the need with some people to try and paint the movie as a failure and nitpick every little thing they possibly can? I don't remember this kind of constant bitching and whining about things in any marvel movie or the dark knight movies, even though there are plenty of things to nitpick if you try as hard as some people are with this movie. Did MOS go around pushing people down and stealing their lunch money or something?

Well MOS has already beaten Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Incredible Hulk. It's on it's way to beating Iron Man, it is 60 MIL away.

Has it been successful? Yes, and as many people who predict the box office called 550-600. I honestly was expecting 650, but it has been hit by strong competition. Pacific Rim, Monster University, and World War Z all chipped away at its profits.

Though, I'd say that whether it made a profit or not, another reboot would be a kick in the $#@ that is not required. They have to go on and make a sequel despite the set backs from critics. Superman returns did not leave any room for a potential shared universe or a future.

It also beat Wolverine, both Fantastic Four films and all the and X-Men films as well also and it most likely will beat Iron Man 2. In fact today it will pass Amazing Spider-Man domestically which is something in itself imo.

It's easier to count which superheroes have beaten MOS at the box office. It's only Batman, Iron Man, Spider-Man for the solo pics. For all pics there's also Avengers of course.

hopefully someone better than zod lol redcaped is gona give me hell for me saying it again

Even if I was to believe a word Singer said when he was trying to save his reputation, it still didn't even double it's production cost. And that's without taking into account marketing costs.

MOS on the other hand is on it's way to tripling it's budget cost, and made up marketing costs through sponsors.

So you have a very strange definiton of "being close in budget and gross."

Also your claiming that the general audience liked Superman Returns is frankly laughable. If they enjoyed it they would have watched it more and recommended everyone else to go watch it. It's not like Superman is some unknown name.

And of course Profit dictates sequel potential. Trying to argue otherwise is just trolling.

Man of Steel >>>>>>>>>> Superman Returns.

GTFO here will the bullshit.
