It may be because he wants to the Magneto movie

He does not want to do Magneto right now.

And I don't get the resentment for Donner & Singer's vision of Superman. SUPERMAN RETURNS was downright awesome.

Donner's version was awesome because it was appropriate for the time.

Singer's was a poor imitation, that in no way reflected the current world or Superman.

That was the exact problem. What worked 30 years ago won't always work in the present, unless it's a period piece. Besides that, I'd like to finally see a new version of Superman instead of directors thinking it's cool to rehash the same thing over & over. We've seen the same type of Superman on film for the last 30+ years, it's time for a change.

Looks like Brandon Routh's contract has expired

Routh's Superman Contract Has Expired

Superman Returns star Brandon Routh recently told Omelete (via ThinkMcFlyThink.com) that his contract to star in a sequel has expired, but that if they were to call again, he would go back to the character without thinking twice. Other than that, Routh said he does not know anything about the status of the possible project.

You can read the translated article with some more quotes about Superman Returns here.

I still think he did a great job as both Kent and Supes.

What Would McTeigue Do with a Superman Film?

MTV chatted with Ninja Assassin and V For Vendetta director James McTeigue about what he would do if he was brought on board a new Superman film. He's been rumored as one of the candidates to take over the franchise. You can watch his response using the player below!

Pretty doubtful a sequel to SR will happen at all. I'm all for a reboot with Routh still in the role. He didn't really have a chance to prove himself in SR as Superman, but was great as Clark Kent.

i agree. he was given the chance to finish the story Chris Reeves never could, and for this it made people not only disappointed but they were expecting alot more from him (reviews i've heard/read anyway)

he was very good in my opinion, he handled the baton passed to him very well.

if they don't use him in another superman film, whoever is casting is a moron.

Superman:MoS should have superman not on earth but him doing something nontradtional like when he left our star system after being in the sun for thousands of years, recreated Krypton and revived lois and his parents. And they all lived there.

OMG! I can't wait to see the movie. I hope, Brandon will still play the role. I don't others why hate him and not agreeing him to be Superman. I guess, it's because he was a newcomer actor when he did the Superman Returns. But, if given a chance, I'm sure he can do better. Really love to see him in Superman: The man of steel. 🙂

Well Returns was his first big film and the Director had too of been aware of the limitations of his actor. That being said I think he has the charm and is very likable and genuine in the role and I enjoyed him as both Clark Kent and Superman. Givin that it's been a while now and he's slightly grown as an actor appearing in television and film , I think another shot would be a good move.

Is DC really caught in limbo - they can't touch parts of Superman's story in a new film, or the rights revert back to the Siegels & Shuster's?

I'm not 100% certain but I think I read the Siegel & Shuster law suit was settled outside court for an undisclosed amount recently. I'll try to find it if I can. This other interview is few months old now. But yeah , they don't have any recent plans for Supes in the near future.

Wake Up! It's not happening! What do you think we've been talking about for months - even years - now?? Superman's film future is clouded and in limbo!

There will eventually be a Superman movie. We just have too be patient. It's just it may be a little while. I don't think it will be another 20 yrs. but a while . . .

I think JJ Abrams would make a good Supes movie.
