Superman: Man of Steel

I feel like they shouldn't even bother making a Supes movie. 😬 Clark's one of those characters that I just don't think they can make a good movie out of.

Singers SR was a reboot, they used Lex and look how well that did. Movie Lex wasnt done properly the first two times. The only good verions are animated and Smallville.

No it wasn't. They stayed within the continuity established by Superman I & II.

- Superman & Lois had a sexual encounter in Superman II, that resulted in the child we see in SR.

- Lex returns to the Fortress Of Solitude, which he found in Superman II ( His gang remarked on how Lex acted like 'he'd been here before'.)

Suprised that they did'nt hear General Zod in the Fortress Of Solitude.

Ok, The Rock is by faarrrr the better actor. However, neither is suited to be the man of steel.

Yes. Johnson actually has proven to be the best wrestler-turned-actor ever; he's the exception to the rule. But he's not right for Superman. Black Adam, or maybe even Captain Marvel, are better for him.

Well, then, duhhhh....it doesn't fit the critieria of being a reboot.

Reboot means you throw out previous continuity and start over.
Get it?

Do I look slow to you?

Apparently you are. Because in your earlier post you said Bryan Singer's Superman Returns is a reboot, while acknowledging later the film keeps continuity with Superman I & II (which disqualifies it as a reboot by definition - Batman Begins, Casino Royale, those are true reboots.)

So you are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

I stand corrected after your first post. The post about the reboot was a dumb dumb move.

OK.
So remind where you stand - full reboot this time ( whcih means they get to do Zod over etc.) or not?

facepalm I give up.

A wigger playing superman. Pass. And a Samoan looking superman, double pass.

I mean what's cena gonna say as supes..

Lady: "Oh thank you, superman. You're the greatest!"

Cenaman: "Na, you know. Don't even worry about it. Just doin' my job and everything, you know. (smiles and winks an eye) Well I'm out sexy. (flies away) holler!

Ha. Or "ey yo, Brainiac. You pick the wrong day, b."

And what's the rock gonna do. Clothesline darkseid? So no to both of them. Just no. get john hamm for the role and let's get this thing going already.

There's a couple reasons.

One, because of his power set. Supes has a really fantastical set of powers, as does most of his super powered Rogue's Gallery. I don't think the movie producers are willing to shell out the big bucks nescesarry to show a good fight between Clark and another super villain. I don't know about you, but, personally, I've become really jaded with the last few CGI heavy adaptations. I didn't like either of the Transformers movies, I didn't like the Incredible Hulk, or either of the Iron Man movies, and the reason for that is because in all of those movies they cut the CGI fights down for the sake of the budget. In a two and a half hour movie, they show ten minutes of superhero on superhero fighting. It's annoying to me, personally. If I watch a movie about someone with super powers, I want to see them fight with those super powers, and for a guy like Superman, who can fly faster than light, lift trillions of tons, and use entire country sides as an arena for one fight, that's what I want to see him do in a fight with someone else. Not here and there across a film for the sake of conserving money. It's possible to do, but, movie producers don't want to do it because it costs money. They're content with blurring scenes to fake the speed and zooming in and out over and over again. Meh.

Second reason is that I personally don't think Clark's a very interesting character. I don't think the actual depth to the character that's present in the comics translates over to movies too well... and I feel that he kind of has the same impact on an audience as Bale's Bruce Wayne does, which is that no one's ever walked out after Begins or TDK ended and said "Man, Bruce Wayne was my favorite character in that movie."

I understand that you're trying to be funny, but, you do realize that the whole Vanilla Ice thing is a gimmick, right?

Was a gimmick. I haven't watched wrestling in years but I was told that he's change that since like '06. That now he's like the all American, support the troops type now. Like going into the ring fully decked out in u.s. military fatigue and saluting before and after every match while saying it for the kids but when I see the commercials or trailers for his movies online he has that mark walberg/white rapper/street tough attitude with the hard acting poses and all.

And I wasn't trying to be funny. I was being serious. Like I actually see them playing it out that way.

Point is no to john cena being superman. Just him being considered was nuts.

Give it to john hamm, or josh hartnett, or peter welling, henry cavill. People whom actually look like superman and can act well.

I'm down with John Hamm.

You really think they would have Superman talking slang and all just because Cena would be playing him? 😬

Bruce Wayne should be English then.

i can see him throwing in a "nah don't even worry about that.." or "yo, metallo! over here!"

if not they'd water it down.

I personally think having Lex as an enemy would be a bad idea. He's been the main focus enemy in every superman film. They need to take a new angle, have a big super-powered enemy that will give Superman a run for his money...

Why hasn't Cena spoke like that in any of the other films he's been in then? Why doesn't Bruce Wayne and Batman have an English accent? I'm surprised Don Cheadle didn't go "Yo Tony, dis suit is off da chain son! Umma get mad bitches now!"

I don't think you understand what acting is to be honest.
