Superman: Man of Steel

The only strong complaint i can think of right now is...

Spoiler:
The portrayal of Johnathan and Martha Kent. Sure, the death of Johnathan was well done as was their performance. However, I think the movie focused a lot on how Jor-El influenced Clark Kent to become Superman as well as creating the Morale compass for him. Honestly, that should have been dealt with better, the entire movie we get this idea that Pa and Ma Kent want Clark to be in hiding, to hide his powers. Heck Johnathan dies because of his belief. Clark does go into hiding until he meets Jor-El.

Not to mention the entire, "you're not my dad" felt like an exact copy from Spiderman.

Not sure I agree. Sure, Jonathan wanted him to hide it, but only because he believed that Clark was destined to change the world; that he was special, and that his future was more important than that of Jonathan's.

Even during that scene, you can tell he's telling Clark that he's destined for so much more, and that to show himself now would be a mistake.

Spoiler:
in superman 2, kal was already dealing with a "humanized" zod.. if you wanna talk about an unnecessary superman kill, that was it.. zod could've been arrested and jailed, maybe shared the same cell with lex..

shannon zod was not depowered like stamp zod.. shannon zod is willing to fight superman to the death.. he was already killing the humans with the terraforming.. snapping shannon zod's neck was justified.. throwing depowered stamp zod into a seemingly endless pit, i dunno..

glad we agree and you see my point. the critics keep referring back to the Reeves movies as the proper characterization but overlook some of the darker overtones because Reeves was smiling the whole time while he did it.

i agree that was the intent of that scene but it just didn't fly and came off like others have said "a spiderman rip-off scene"

I wish there was a Purge in USA so I can go punch this consultant in the face.

I think people who think that have short memories. It's not like Spider-Man invented the concept.

Though them using Cavill for that scene really seemed stupid to me.

Superman saved a planet. Did they even watch the movie?

150 millions domestically.

nobody is talking about the concept. they're talking about the specific scene in spider-man 1. go and watch it again. both heroes tell their surrogate father while in a car that they are not his real father right before tragedy strikes.

I know the scene you're talking about, so no need to watch it again. Yes, they're quite similar. So?

was pointing out that they didn't need to take that route. Sure it humanizes Superman and all, but it's honestly not something I can hear Superman/Clark saying. Nor can I ever expect Johnathan to say maybe....

I can see both, under the right circumstances.

"so?"

so, like i was saying before, it came off like a spider-rip off.

it didn't destroy the movie, but it was noticeable because it came from left field.

It just didn't seem like a rip off to me, I guess.

What do you think of Faora PR?

rip off or homage however you may call it, it's not a bad thing.

i just think they could have dialogued that scene closer to something more natural that supes would say but then again this is a re-imaging of the character.

He's not that different, tbh, and saying something like that isn't outside the realm of possibility for a young Clark.

For that, no demands necessary.
