Superman: Man of Steel

Well it's already beaten Superman Returns worldwide total at the box office. And made considerably greater profit. And it's hardly been over a week:

So yeah this is a financial success. There will be sequels and a JL plan being put into action no doubt.

the way people are talking about this movie, its no surprise its raking in the dough..

Did having all the Kryptonians cells infused in Kal's body what made him strong enough to defeat Zod and Faora?

Edit: Completely changed you post...

Not that I agree with everything he said nor his "version" of Superman who makes no mistake. Yet, I agree when he said Uncle Ben didn't have to die.

Action was great. the rest of the movie sucked big time.

Do you even like any comic book movies?

I don't really get all the hurt over the collateral damage.

End of the day it was for audience entertainment. And it was damn entertaining. I'm sure a fight in space would have cost them a lot less to make.

They showed Clark's humanity at various points in the movie, but it was also clear he was a rookie at this point. And his scream at the end shows the toll this experience had on him.

I thought it was the fact that kal'el has been soaking up the yellow sun's radiation for 33 years.. whatever sensory overload zod was experiencing when he took off his helmet, clark experienced while he was in elementary school.. kal-el was getting his ass whooped due to the fact that his opponents are military trained and he is n00bz in the movie..

True but having all those cells of the entire race inside him, then that would ultimately make him stronger. Its obvious that the 33 years didn't give him that much advantage because Zod and Faora knew how to use the powers as soon as they got to earth. Kal had i guess billions of cells of the whole race inside him so I think that might have been why he was stronger.

He had a genetic make up. It wouldn't give him any benefit. Though, I can see how they can use that to bring back Kryptonians if they need to

So the 33 years in the sun made him stronger and able to take on all three of them?

The advantage Superman had in the combat early on was mastery of all his powers. Zod, Faora et al. hadn't yet mastered flight, and because they kept their atmosphere helmets on they couldn't use their heat vision either. So it was a bit of a stalemate - their greater numbers & martial art military training vs. his extra powers. There's never been a set rule for time, about getting the powers in a yellow sun system. In the comics, Kryptonians and Daxamites can start showing them within minutes of being in Earth's atmosphere. Never has there been a rule about someone having more juice because they have spent longer on Earth than someone else who just arrived. The only extra advantages may be getting immune to kryptonite and having your aging dramatically slowed, over decades.

Good post!

Pr will know but I'm pretty sure in the comics Superman had been soaking up yellow sun radiation all his life which builds up. Which is why he can even fly through a red sun and not die.

Wasn't the solar build-up stated in Kingdom Come?

Well, when he and Earth-2 Superman flew Superboy Prime through a red sun at the conclusion of Infinite Crisis, he got depowered for a full year.

It was mental blocks that kept him depowered for a year, not the red sun.

he was depowered by the red sun, yes, but not to the extent that he was powerless. Remember, he still survived until he crash landed on Mogo (at which point, im guessing his powers finally gave out), and then was able to keep standing even on a planet of kryptonite.

and yes, it's been said in the comics that being on earth for years allows one to build up more solar energy/solar reserves.

Yes, he does get de-powered, but not completely. Remember if he gets depowered completely, how does he survive the landing.

I noticed that when superman and zod used their heat vision, they needed a second to recover and restore their "sight." anybody else notice? like when kal melted that steel beam.. he then gets hit anyway by zod, like he didn't see it coming..

it happened in the fight with Zod, but he used heat vision just fine the rest of the movie.
