Visual Storytelling at it's finest....

From Chancellor to Emporer

Even though we know him as the villian all along, notice how his position switches from on the right (good guy) in the film where he's chancellor to on the left (bad guy) in the film where he's becomes emporer and is revealed as Sidious.

This also happens in the mirrored scenes of Anakin walking and talking with Palps in his office, that I posted on the last page:

In AOTC, anakin walks on the right side while he's trying to be a good Jedi, and in ROTS he walks on Palps left side in the film that he turns evil and becomes Darth Vader.

🙂

This is more for fun than anything, but:

Palps Hangs On

Palps Falls

I wonder if he was thinking of this when he fell? 😛

Jedi Towers and Sith Tower

Clones and Drones

First and Last

Sorry for the pic quality! This is the first and last time in the saga that we see a blade ignited in a battle of Jedi v.s. Sith.

Notice that Obi-Wan and sidious are hooded, and that they both ignite with one hand.

Held Captive

Thoughtful on the Bridge

Creepin'

Hold Me

Good Job!

Ridin' Dirty

I love the visual contrast in colors here.

Bringing down the Walls

I like that in ROTS he's moving away from us, and in ESB he's coming straight for us.

Kind of a metaphor for anakin's character in relation to the audience, while still showing him relentless in pursuit of our Jedi hero.

You may change your mind about the PT, in some regards anyway.

(

Why would I? IN the end it is all about story, not about endless repetitions in composition. I mean, he did a nice job, but he uses repetition as a style. He chooses left for the villains and stick to it... that is a basic choice. There is very little suprise in it, something that baffles you. And again: the OT was mainly shot by OTHER directors. And that is what Lucas is repeating: THEIR work.

And when it comes to the very essence: good storyTELLING, the PT is flawed and always will be. Not nice compositioning will ever be able to compensate that. Nice pictures alone don't make a good film.

Well very well, the intention of the thread was never to get people to like the PT better, but to show all of the visual themes that are repeated, mirrored, or reversed throughout the whole saga.

It made me appreciate the PT a little more, but in the end it's all about the pics.

As long as everybody is still enjoying the thread, I will continue.

I think Ast was asking for one like this, but I'm gonna keep looking for better quality images.

How much wishful thinking is this? A lot comes down to basic composition...

Oh, and you forgot the word 'repeated' when you were summing up. 😉

😕

You've baffled me.

I think that you said composition is important in film, which I get...

but then you ask me if I'm just wishful thinking....

about what?

My last post said that I never meant to convert people to liking the PT more, only that it made me appreciate it a little more, and that I was gonna post all of the similar shots and themes of the saga in here.

And I said "repeated" in that post, since you quoted it you should see that. L😂L!!

No more blue milk for you, Queeq! 😛

Anyways, here's more pics for those who are enjoying this kind of thing:

[B]You've baffled me.

You baffle me too.

Sometimes you get really cood ones, like Jabba eating something, or Palpsy getting shafted...but other times, like when you use ships flying into hangers, that not anything special. Ships fly into hangars and then out of them. They usually land inside too 😛

Why the discrepancy? 😂

I must say I like the one with both Kenobi and Sidious igniting their sabers the same way. Good job, keep them coming.

Because the thread is for similar themes, events, or shots... and of course shots of ships landing in and out of hangers look similar. 😛

I see what you mean, though.

Thanks. 🙂

I know I did this one before, but it was from more of a straight ahead view, rather than looking down which I liked better.

Obi-Wan is the wrong guy to mess with at the bar.

The Circle is Now Complete

Sith Lords seem to have a thing for disconnecting appliances. Both in the second film of the trilogy, and shown here as reversed angles.

I guess Lucas figured this last one was too blatant? I was always bummed that when it pans down to the star destroyer we didn't pull back to see this shot in ROTS.

Shop Class

3PO-Drag Queen

The Face of Evil

Wow! Alot of you know George Lucas so well, perhaps you should take over the Star Wars empire and create what you know is right.

Awesome thread by the way. If we could only stick to the cool pictures rather than everyone harping on every fricken thing Lucas has done.

Oh we would have a whole new episode II.5.

Thanks SMX. I'll keep to the pics and not commentate on 'em. 🙂
