actually, there were about 7,000 greeks. The signifigance to this battle was when the spartans, who were leading the defense against the persians, diescovered that the persians found how how to surround them, they sent all the surviving soldiers home except the 300 bodyguards of Leonidas. That last day is what makes the story so famous. I can go on with the story, but it's the illuminati and we all know you guys don't like to learn.
