It kind of is seeing as how your argument hinges on it.

So because Marvel brought these characters out of obsurity and they became popular that equates to Marvel putting a bunch of cashcows on one team? Why are you still trying to argue this point? You're wrong here, just accept it
Ha!
Wolverine and Spider-Man were stuck on the team to make money... obvious.
Spider Woman, Ironfist/Power Man, Hawkeye, and Dr. Strange have always been fairly popular in their own right. And certainly better then some people who would work much better for this concept, but don't have as many fanboys,
Originally posted by marvelprinceOn the premise of defending security, they "came" together, and stayed together to help collectively combat evil. I don't give a sh*t whether they're working with the gov't or not. But it was never created to combat the gov't. Which, despite other claims, is all they've done so far, along with get pwned by a handful of ninjas.
Wrong again. The former Avengers were not created. They came together as a result of a crisis and stayed together to do good as a team. The New Avengers came together as a result of Civil War and stay together to do good as a team. Only difference is that they don't want to do it under the government. This version came together not because the world was in peril or anything but because Tony (or rather Jarvis) felt the world needed Avengers so he DRAFTED them.
Originally posted by marvelprinceA team that comes together under direct opposition form the gov't, and spends all their time fighting other heroes... at least the Mighty Avengers are about to go up against a world-threatening evil.
A team that wants to do good without the government dictating to them how to do it. Actually that sounds a lot like Avengers Vol. 2.
The NA's agenda is more like:
1. Fight government
2. Hide from government
3. Fight ninjas
4. Fight the government again

How does it go against the grain of the "classic Avengers"? Team flung together by chance/circumstance looking to help others. Throw in the oppressive government angle and you have a plotline from the old Avengers.
They've taken out the "Helping the public" angle... they've thrown in the "fight other heroes angle". And then they've finished off with the "crappy ragtag team angle". Though I don't think the last one was purposeful.
Originally posted by marvelprinceThis team is a ragtag bunch that doesn't fit together, but happens to make money for Marvel, most of whom barely have the title of avengers, and created under a premise that is so completely anti-avenger.
And your thing about the members makes no sense since team upheavals have been a recurring theme in the Avengers for years, dating back to Cap and the Kooky quartet.
