No... not at all. And my "argument" is simply what I stated as my opinion about why the NA sucks.

So because Marvel brought these characters out of obsurity and they became popular that equates to Marvel putting a bunch of cashcows on one team?

Why are you still trying to argue this point? You're wrong here, just accept it

Ha!

Wolverine and Spider-Man were stuck on the team to make money... obvious.

Spider Woman, Ironfist/Power Man, Hawkeye, and Dr. Strange have always been fairly popular in their own right. And certainly better then some people who would work much better for this concept, but don't have as many fanboys,

Wrong again. The former Avengers were not created. They came together as a result of a crisis and stayed together to do good as a team. The New Avengers came together as a result of Civil War and stay together to do good as a team. Only difference is that they don't want to do it under the government. This version came together not because the world was in peril or anything but because Tony (or rather Jarvis) felt the world needed Avengers so he DRAFTED them.
On the premise of defending security, they "came" together, and stayed together to help collectively combat evil. I don't give a sh*t whether they're working with the gov't or not. But it was never created to combat the gov't. Which, despite other claims, is all they've done so far, along with get pwned by a handful of ninjas.

A team that wants to do good without the government dictating to them how to do it. Actually that sounds a lot like Avengers Vol. 2.
A team that comes together under direct opposition form the gov't, and spends all their time fighting other heroes... at least the Mighty Avengers are about to go up against a world-threatening evil.

The NA's agenda is more like:
1. Fight government
2. Hide from government
3. Fight ninjas
4. Fight the government again

How does it go against the grain of the "classic Avengers"? Team flung together by chance/circumstance looking to help others. Throw in the oppressive government angle and you have a plotline from the old Avengers.
"Throw in the oppressive government angle"? 😆

They've taken out the "Helping the public" angle... they've thrown in the "fight other heroes angle". And then they've finished off with the "crappy ragtag team angle". Though I don't think the last one was purposeful.

And your thing about the members makes no sense since team upheavals have been a recurring theme in the Avengers for years, dating back to Cap and the Kooky quartet.
This team is a ragtag bunch that doesn't fit together, but happens to make money for Marvel, most of whom barely have the title of avengers, and created under a premise that is so completely anti-avenger.

Then whats Hawkeye doing on the team? 😕
Hawkeye?

All I see is Ronin.

No, I meant your first point which was that they were all cash cows. Thats just plain wrong.

Which I gave you. 2 members out off 8. How dare they!

Again, going back to what you said was that they are ALL cash cows which is wrong. Now you say that they are all fairly popular, which is also wrong as at least in Spider-Woman and Luke Cage's case was D list before they got Avengers membership.

You really missed the premise of the New Avengers haven't you. They are not there to fight the government. Its the Mighty Avengers who're going after them, not the other way around. Did you read the latest issue where they discuss getting to the bottom of what's was eating away at Hydra and SHIELD. You say they're fighting the government, when thats not what they'll doing at all. They're mostly just ignoring them while they do what it is that they do.

The first New Avengers came together despite government opposition so your point is moot.

Spent all their time fighting heroes? Um...can you point which issue that occured in? Another moot point there.

Maybe the MA should focus on world threatening evil instead of trying to round up Cage and co.

Ok..again where have the New Avengers been fighting other heroes? They ran from the MA and only went after the Hand and ended up fighting the Silver Samurai (the Hand are the bad guys btw, not heroes)

Yea, coming together to face the foes no single hero could withstand. So anti-avenger 🙄

Anyway Smurph, this was fun but I'm headin out to bed. We can pick back up tomorrow.

Take it easy crew, an sorry for comandeering the thread. I did make a new thread so as not to fill this one up but I still got a bit carried away.

Aw,don't worry MP,En and I spam up almost any thread were in with the Dick/Jason debate.

Which I clarified was relative speaking. There are better people out there with half the popularity. Gee, I wonder why they didn't make the team?

Just pointing out the obvious first.

Again, I already stated how this was relative to those who could have been on the team.

And Spider Woman certainly wasn't D List. She was actually one of Marvel's most popular females.

Luke Cage is still remembered for his old days with Ironfist... when they introduced the character, they said in an interview that's why they were sticking them both on the team...

You don't even read my posts, do you?

The team was created because it was a bunch of heroes who didn't like the government, so they couldn't go public... it said this on the last issue of Civil War.

Then, I said, despite other claims of heroism, the only appearances they've had besides running from ninjas are clashing with the MA. More government.

To combat evil... and they were a team because (except for Wolverine, who was stuck in as a cash cow) they were all at the raft.

These guys became a team, not because they inextricably gathered at the sight of some major super-villainous act, but because none of them liked the gov't rules.

The MA do... in their own issues. In which they don't bother with the NA.

You know what the NA do in their own issues?

Clash with the MA.

The clashes with the MA multiple times... then they went to Japan to get Maya Lopez and didn't even want to fight the bad guys... they went on about how they weren't enemies.

Funny... the Hand not being the enemies?

The Hand are the bad guys btw.

for me its not the avengers if it doesnt have at least a few out of cap, hawkeye, pym, stark, wasp and thor...

call me a purist, but thats just me...

Good luck with the new job Smurf.

best of luck dude...

Thanks guys. All's well so far. 🙂

Ok, so after working, I saw Spidey 3 again with a friend, and noticed some nuances I missed earlier:

Did anyone notice:

Spoiler:
1. How Harry managed to die the same way as his father?
2. How they were good about Spidey's sense not being activated by Venom?
3. How when Sandman confesses to Peter about how Uncle Ben died, he's wearing the same shirt in the flashback as he is at that moment?
4. How Harry actually turned Sandman to glass?
5. How Harry was by far the most impressive combatant in the movie?

There's more, but I just forget right now.

Didn't notice the shirt but other than that I loved all those thing.
Do wish they showed Peter using his spider sense more accurately thou. Like with Harry when he snapped Pete off the scooter.

Damn everyone we've gotta reveal the draft pick soon. I don't think I can keep form talking about my character with anyone much longer.
HELP! 😱

Well team what do ya think?

I know its shitty but it was my first time. Anyone able to improve it?

And my new sig draft!

Just read Countdown 51.

As expected,Jason owned.
