Thanos vs Superman

Started by Beta Ray Howard399 pages

Thanos survived an entire world blowing up in his face, and the same blast KOed Drax.

Superman doesn't have that much power in one, or even a flurry of punches. If he starts hitting Thanos, Thanos will just blast him away.

Even then, I doubt Superman well get the chance to enter close quarters combat.

Thanos wins this fairly easily.

Bruisers like Superman are a dime a dozen to him and just don't have what it takes.

People act as if Thanos regularly deflects multiple light speed attacks. I don't see it happening. Could thanos Stop Superman from landing hundreds of thousands of near simultaneous punches? no. He's been hit by much slower. This match isn't an easy win for Thanos. Period. He wins. But not easy.
Actually, Thanos could stop him from doing that...with multiple different ways. Superman is still going to come at him, and he gets stopped as easily as the Fallen One.

Why wouldn't Superman get a chance when so many others who are slower and less power have gotten the chance. And Superman has flew str8 thru celestial bodies with ease. What power is he lacking exactly? Superman also survived a fight with S'ivaa.

Waitaminute. You actually think that Surfer is slower than Superman?

No.

1. Because the chair does not make forcefields. Notice that the field stays there even when the chair teleports away. Only version of the Space Throne ever shown to make forcefields was the third version, and even that was only the personal forcefield.

2. It wasn't up. Look at the second panel.

3. And if you notice, Thanos makes the field AFTER Surfer launches his beam. Surfer talking doesn't matter.

Allow me to quote something.

This small craft resembled nothing more than a large Throne (and sometimes somewhat irreverently as a "Cosmic Barka-lounger"😉, which usually transported only one person. The orginal version of this throne was created by Mistress Death, and had some unknown mystical properties. This craft was destroyed in a confrontation with the Elder known as the Runner.

However, Thanos went on to personally build a second version of this wrecked craft. This version was virtually identical to the original, with the exception of the mystical qualities that the original flyer possessed. The second version of the space-throne would also be destroyed during a battle with Earth's defenders that took place as part of the larger sceme against the Magus. Thanos would later go on to build a third version of this craft.

It seems all versions possessed similar abilities to the original. The craft was capable of generating a powerful, nearly impenatrable force-sphere.It contained formidable energy-beam weapons, capable of automatic targeting and firing. These bolts of force were capable of stunning even the Silver Surfer, and could have allegedly killed Adam Warlock. The craft also possessed a teleportational device, a tractor beam emitter, and engines capable of transporting the craft throught seperate dimensions and realities. The craft also boasted powerful sensor arrays, and an advanced computer system.

How fast was Fallen One traveling ? Do you have intel on that, or is it... guessing ?

Small moons maybe, but nothing the size of an planet. When he crashed to Earth, he did not go through it.

Thanos needed one blast to destroy a planet.

Power to survive an encounter with Thanos?

Considering that it was angry as hell, and was showed to be able to fly multiple times of lightspeed, it was flying pretty fast.

Bottom panel first page, no shield/force field. First panel second page, Maker lets out a huge energy blast at point blank range and Thanos protects himself. Again showing he can create fields to protect himself under his own power, and quickly.

What the hell are you talking about? I never said that Thanos couldn't hit SUperman. Where did you pull that one out of?

Superman has beaten A living planet. Didn't you read that Story? I think you might have missed it. And it was one who ate stars from dinner.
SUperman most def can survive and Encounter with Thanos. He's Survived S'ivaa and a NON-JOBBING ultra powerful DS. He certainly can survive Thanos. He won't get the victory, but he'll live to tell the story and Thanos would remember the fight as a good battle.

And here's another quote :

Thanos' reflexes and speed are above normal human levels. While not able to compete in this area at the level of speedier, more agile heroes like Spider-Man, Thanos is far faster than a being of his size ( 6'7" in height, 985 lbs of mass. ) should have a right to be.

The looseleaf edition of the HBOTMU states that both his speed and agility are at the "enhanced human" level.

This comes from THE Thanos website. I know very well it won't impress you guys - unless it says something cool about Thanos - but still, it's there.

The ORIGINAL version did not show any forcesphere. It appeared only for three issues.

It was Thanos's own forcefield (which wasn't even a sphere).

Many people have beaten the Living Planet stereotype. Beta Ray Bill, Thor, and Gladiator (though I don't think that's canon) did it to Ego with relative ease. Hell, Beta Ray Bill did it twice in the same day. Also, Superman has also defeated Darkseid on more than one occasion, has blinded him, and put him into the Source Wall, so using him isn't really going to mean much. Hell, a street thug punked Darkseid.

Also, you keep saying that Superman will give Thanos a good fight, Superman will give Thanos a good fight, but it hasn't happened for characters more powerful than Superman, such as Silver Surfer. It's not gonna happen for Superman.

Sure it won't impress me. Handbooks rarely mean anything. And since the site did not mention any speed feats of Thanos, I would not put much faith on it over comics.

Try better.

Yeah, its not like Thanos would try to kill Supes for serious I dont see why should he.

Pretty fast... sounds pretty lame, don't you agree ? 100 miles an hour is also pretty fast.

Conclusion : you have NO idea how fast he was going. You think he was traveling at the speed of light or whatever, but NOTHING indicates that. For all we know, his speed was 25 miles an hour.

Handbooks also say that Colossus can lift 100 tons, when he's never come close, and that Wolverine knows every fighting style on the planet earth, and have never listed Namor as a class 100 until recently, when he's been punking out Hulk and other top tiers for ages.

Handbooks = shit.

We can safetly assume he was going at least light speed. Or very close to it.

Colossus if Class 100. He's been stated in a comic somewhere as the strongest Mutant on earth.
