Thanos vs Superman

there was this superman fan on another site i use to go to comicvine.. i think his name was clarkkent something or other...

he would argue for superman against any one you put him against.. i wasnt sure if it was a very young kid or a senior with his old recollection of superman from the 30's 70's..

this guy claimed that he could bullet blitz galactus through the head for a win...

Superman would always win b/c he is superman and his powers will always increase for the situation. basically he will win b/c he is superman and will find a way he would use feats and storylines that were old as all hell, for example supes almost running over god and spectre having to stop him.... making a mini me version of himself from his hand as examples of how superman would always prevail no matter the circumstance...

A lot of SM fans are that way, ignoring that all heroes with a title overcome whatever they need to for the sake of the plot and the dozens of times SM has been defeated on panel.

Then they come up with shit like 'SM has a dynamic powerset that rises to the occasion', he always finds a way, he's just holding back and when he stops he can beat anybody.

Here's a newsflash: everybody in comics is holding back, this allows for a an unexplained extrapush when the plot requires it. Every heroe in comics defeats people far above them because they are the heroes. Wolverine, spider-man and batman have just as many showings of this as SM does and it is just as ludicrous to claim they can defeat the hulk without PIS or a plot device on their side.

Flash can amp someone's reflexes with the Speedforce, but that doesn't necessarily grant them heightened visual acuity, etc.

superman didn't even have to use offensive speed to beat that guy (like h1 thinks superman is capable of lol). if darkseid simply put up a shield and/or used his big arms to block his face he might have actually lasted longer.

darkseid's failure(s) don't apply to the ever cunning and ready to fight thanos.

after quickly realizing superman's only strategy is trying to punch him, he'll put two and two together eventually.

Superman stomps

DS is not = Thanos, hes supposed to be but hes not.

DS in a Supes comic gets heavily affected by PIS.

Thanos wins with ease.

Thanos has defeated Silver Surfer(Who is way powerful then Superman)

Thor(Who is on Supermans level)

Drax

Blasted away Galactus

Went toe to toe with Tyrant

etc

Was upgraded by Death.

both actually, wolverine shouldnt take down the hulk without some pretty specific plot devices and conditions. In a straight up fight he gets punched into space

DS has more power than Thanos (more potent godly powers), which makes his losses to Supes in Apokolips Now and Batman/Superman look a little suspect.

Although the Apokolips Now fight looks like Desaad disguised as DS because of how it ends - how does a guy with rock-like flesh get swellings? The same rock like flesh that Lobo could hurt his fists on? His body is not supposed to have that kind of reaction, it's granite-like, granite can't swell. It's like seeing Colossus swelling.

Before that it looks quite genuine with respect to Supes speed (dodging the Omega Beams) and apparent increase in strength.

The only area Thanos has DS beat, is defensive shields. I've only seen one story where DS had any personal shields around himself.
