I give up, I really do.How can you say he was testing his intelligence when its stated on the freakin' pages he was looking for a challenge, a fight. The orb was merely a prize for their fight, something Thanos took so Tyrant would try and take it back. This is ridiculous.
WHy the hell would Tyrant Try and Take it back when he had MOrg? And Tyrant knew that Not even big g Wanted a fight with him. WTF. you think he really could care about that orb when he obviously laughed at thanos for not getting the real orb. The Entire Cosmic Powers Unlimited was about Thanos Quest for information. He wanted to get something.
HE WANTED A CHALLENGE. The very first issue has Thanos defeating an entire army in physical combat and then complaining because they didn't provide him the challenge he was looking for, he then sought out Tyrant. It was bugger all to do with intelligence.
And why would Tyrant try and take back the orb? You tell me, if he didn't care about it he would have simply let Thanos walk away with it. "No one dares pilfer from Tyrant".

Tyrant the entire issue just toyed and laughed at people. It was all a sick joke to him. Please make special note that Tyrant Completely laughs at Thanos, becuz Thanos had his INFO wrong and got the wrong orb. The Entire Series about gatheing info and Data. Thanos thought he had found the tuffest warriors in the universe. HIs info was all wrong. He was challenging himself to get the right info. Physical exsertion was part of it. but not the main focus.

Thanos was not looking for the orb, those are plain lies, he just picked it to lure Tyrant into a fight. Maybe Tyrant thought that Thanos wanted the orb, or maybe he just laughed because he found himself to be the strongest one, but that doesnt have to do anything with Thanos goals in the battle.
Then why was Tyrant clearly having fun the entire issue? It just doesn't add up to what people are making it out to be. Tyrant had big g not wanting to fight lest they tear up the universe and people actually think Thanos had any kind of chance? WTF. ANd yes Thanos was looking for that ORB. IT's the reason why Tyrant Laughs at him at the end. Becuz Tyrant had the real orb. Unless you can give me areason why Tyrant is laughing at Thanos.

I think you did. Not that it would matter, nvr seems to read things differently to everyone else.Thanos: Finally, a challange worthy of Thanos....I must know still more if I am to DUEL this Tyrant.
But somewhere in there, I know he had the intention of Getting The oRb of power. Is it not thanos character to aways go after some power article?
Yes Thanos is a seeker of power, but this particular occasion he was seeking a challenge. The orb was a means to an end, something to steal from Tyrant so he would try and stop him, and a prize for the fight if Thanos was victorious.
Thanos: I mean to steal this bauble. You will try and stop me. And we will discover which of us is mightier.
Tyrant: Such impudence will only bring you death

What Thanos wants is to impress his lady love, other than that he just wants to improve himself and to make others look like chumps. I think that he would look at the orb as a souvenir of his trip more than a goal.
It looks as if he had two goals in mind then. To get the Orb for it's power and to fight Tyrant. The book gives signs of both after hearing arguments from everyone. I still dont' see how a being who can make BIg G back down from a fight wasn't playing with Thanos. He played with everyone else during the entire series.

You need to realise, Thanos isn't some chump.
He isn't. Not at all. But To make him take beings like Despero Or DS and give him the majority is just unfair and rediculous. I think He wins over Despero Slighty. And loses to DS big time. I dont even Think Thanos can beat H/P Doomsday more than 5-6/10.
We were talking about hand to hand combat a while ago (regarding Darkseid and Thanos), we dont have a good comparision of the level of either one aside for the fact that they are stupid-strong; the general assumption was that they were equals and the edge went to Thanos for fighting skills, thats all. If it was a full-fledge battle it would come down to the Omega Effect affecting Thanos or not.
I think that Thanos would have a hard time with Doomsday myself, but the battle is to his advantage because against him, brains will do better than power alone, and Thanos has brains in spares.
He beats Desespero, I just dont think highly enough of him after learning more of his best feat (better explained in that other thread).
