I think Elizabeth going after Will was primarily because she found out AFTER Will had already left that they were both still going to die. Will would find Jack, keep his part of the bargain, come back to Port Royal, and still be hung. She knows Will, knows that he will keep his promise, that he'll be back for her.

She HAD to find Will, because otherwise he would die. Perhaps a small part of her wanted to help Jack remain free, and I figure that both she and Will, once he knew what was going to happen, would have worked with Jack to figure out a way for all of them to be free and clear.

And there is no way she could hang out in Port Royal. Just about everyone knew who she was, and even if she disguised herself, she might still get caught, eventually. Better and safer to be on the move and find her fiance, and Jack. Strength in numbers and all that. 😄

I have a feeling that once she got to Tortuga, she would do exactly what Will had done; start asking around and seeing where she could find Jack. If she finds Jack, she finds Will. It's not a gutsy plan, per se. It's a smart plan.

She knows Will went out to find Jack. She went out to help Will to find Jack. Now that she found Jack, she wants to know where Will is to know if he's safe.

Yes all she want is to save Will.

She said so herself when she saw Jack.

Yes, but I didn't understand why she said she wanted to find Will at first. Was it Jack messing with her mind? Was he using her to find the chest, so that the compass would give him a heading? Because then Jack says, "are you sure thats what you really want"? she says, "yes". Then Jack says,"because I think you want to save Will the most". Thats why I don't like this stupid compass.

She wanted to save Will. If she wanted Will the most, it would've pointed to where he was. Instead it pointed to the chest to SAVE Will.

But the main clues are in the curiosity scene. When Jack proposed his "ma-rri-age" to Liz and she made all this caca reasons not to perform that with him.

When she could've said just ONE IMPORTANT reason: Because I love Will or Im engaged to him.

i mean think about it. Elizabeth is a girl, so she's going through every possibility in her mind.

Her and Will can't go back to Port Royal or they will be hung. Her entire future just went up in smoke. So she has a pity party and then starts thinking about plan B. Plan B means they turn into full time pirates.

Makes sense. She throws out the dress and starts practicing. Hijacking ships, seducing men, winning bar fights, swordfighting, etc. She's just easing into her new future. 😉

Ok another interesting thing, when Will scape the FD with the key and gets rescue by, whats the ships name??? never mind. The ship were Liz was at first. Did anyone notice how Will throws the wedding dress when a sailor comes in to the cabin to alert them about the FD? It looks as if he slammed the dress in the chair. I don't know, but for some reason I thought it was funny.

i thought it was funnier how he smelled the dress. I'm thinking after spending a week or so in prison, and then chasing Beckett around, and then chilling on a smelly merchant vessel, that dress has to stink, bad. hehehe.

Ohhh so he likes rotten smells 😆

Maybe he thought about his father on how he was still on that ship, and forgot about liz lol.

Oh now you guys are just being mean to make yourselves feel better about J/E. 😉 Elizabeth probably only spent a day or two in jail, at the most. 😛 And she was only on the merchant vessel for two days, if even that, and the dress was only on the vessel at most, for three days. 😄 I would imagine Elizabeth's scent was still lingering on it.

im not being mean, im being realistic. think about the time frame- Will hit up multiple ports after Tortuga, and you cant get around the Caribbean in a day. Obviously a good amount of time had lapsed, at least a week if not two or three. Plus, Gov Swann couldn't come up with that escape plan overnight. He had to get in touch with the captain he trusted.

So i reckon it was a while Liz was stuck in that dress. Even if it wasn't, have you ever smelled wet brocade? 😉

Will went to multiple ports? Maybe he went to one or two besides Tortuga, but the impression I've gotten is that Gov. Swann did in fact get Elizabeth out of prison in a day or two. If he hadn't, there would be no way Elizabeth could have caught up to Jack, because, I somehow doubt he ran from the kraken for three weeks without getting attacked.

So let's work out the time line....

But I don't have time to do it now. So I'll do it later. 😄

sounds good, except its gonna be pretty much all speculaton. we have no clue how much time passes between certain scenes.

OH WOW! i wasn't under the impression these places were real I new about Port Royal but not anything else...

I'm not saying Liz wasn't smart in her plan. She went to the exact place Will said he would start. And I'm not questioning her motives. She wants to find Will. But there is one problem, and that's the whereabouts of Will. I'm just being nit-picky here, but say Will got mugged somewhere and died and never found Jack. He's a hero in an action movie, so that wouldn't happen, but it could have.
So here is Liz and she's been very clever and has come up with a good plan, but she finds Jack first and he honestly tells her Will hasn't come up to him about anything and he hasn't seen Will since the day they saved Jack from hanging. See what I'm saying? There is a fault in the plan. Call me a nerd now.

Yes Port Royal and Tortuga were real. Port Royal was destroyed by an earthquake I believe in 1682. And Tortuga was in fact a Pirate port. It's located about 10 or 15 miles from Haiti. And in the 18th and 19th century it took sailors around 3 days to go from Port Royal to Tortuga depending on the wind directions. It usually was a bit more than 3 days.
