Phoenix is mutable, indestructible life force. It cannot die. Jean is just its human form. Blow up the physical body and Jean isnt dead. Phoenix cannot truly die and that is Marvel canon. Everyone knows that. The fact that youre disputing that shows just how little you know.

In that case Wolverine can't loose or die in a versus match-up neither. Wolvie only dies if his soul goes with him. But he can die in a versus match-up by drowning. Coz that's where the battle ends in versus thread.
