I think saying that it is a lost cause is just dangerous and lazy.

I'm originally from Cornwall, but I visited friends in London, Exeter, and Northampton. I heard racist remarks nearly everywhere I went, but the main perpetrators were in Cornwall and Exeter.

as to where youve visited in the UK ive never been to Exeter so i cannot comment
i could do a google search to read about racism in Exeter but i like to make my own mind up and see things first hand
ive actually been to Cornwall on holiday and the only time i saw persons of colour was at a kebab shop and they pisssed me off big time

no salad

Recently, Cornwall has had a large influx of recent immigrants from Eastern Europe, and it's racist comment in regards to these people that I'm referring to there.

Hi I'm from the U.K and although yes there is some racism here, we are certainly not all racist at all. When I was in America last year I was struck by the open racism Americans showed towards people of Cuban descent etc. I also had a taxi driver at a point that raved that he wouldn't go near the Miami Beach music festival as it's full of 'blacks'. Though we do have awful naziesque parties here like the terrible BNP we certainly are not all like that and that's why our government have been voted time after time - they are racially tolerant and have an open immigration scheme.

The thing about England is that racism is such a touchy subject. The word 'racist' is thrown about all too often. The majority of Britain is tolerant and those who aren't are just ineducated. I just tend to ignore racists. They're idiots. And besides,

I live about 30 minutes away from Exeter and basically I think the racism you experienced was probably a kind of south western idiocy we have quite a bit of down here. Alot of people here complain about immigrants when we don't even have any kind of influx of immigrants apart from a small number of Polish peoples who quite frankly do a far better job in construction, plumbing etc. than us English do.

I know I've offended you but these are not my views.

P.S. They are, however popular views in England and if I vilify you or your ideolgy or your country, you're no better for vilifying me. Try rising above it.

I've got family in Manchester and I really like it there. The fact that different cultures are present dosen't get to me at all in fact I embrace it as a positive thing, this is the earth nobody should dictate who goes where in it.

Racism isn't a national thing it's a personal thing. To say that England is racist is racist in itself because it's a gross generalisation and is a stereotype. There are racists everywhere and there always will be, unfortunately. Also, people can be racist without knowing it and mean no harm by what they say.

Yeah I know it is, I do however stay in manchester when I'm visiting family in Egerton as their house is small and crowded. But remember I'm not jippin' Manchester I'm saying I like it particularly the night life.
