What's So Bad About Hudlin? Really?

Knowledge is Power. I can see how a corrupt Government and its media could spin a cure in a number of ways.

First, lets consider:

#1

A nation (especially not a separatist nation), if smart, does not go to other countries announcing to the media that they have just cured anything.

This is so for various reasons: could be considered "posturing" or an act of passive aggression by the leaders of said country. Also, capitalism is the oil that runs the machine. Said cure could be "bad news" for some major political players.

Uh.. no Usually when they have something concretely established they usually announce it BECAUSE it makes them look better and have more leverage in the global community. More respect, more influence more say.

How would a cure for cancer be considered a bad thing? Hell, the tabacco industry would be thrilled to have a way to keep cancer away. That way they don't get as many lawsuits, and there customers live longer.

Being a separatist nation, they might not be keen on having a spike in "Cancer Cure" tourism.

Why would they need to? Make the cure available in other countries and those other countries would be the target destination of those in seek of the cure.

If the Cure fell into the wrong hands it could, potentially, be reverse engineered into something deadly.

Like that's a real worry since people are already doing things like that in the comics.

No, as I said before. It just looks like Hudlin is trying to make him seem smart.

"He's so smart he has the cure for cancer!"

Which is fine and dandy except that he's being an ass about it.

"But he won't give it to anybody."

We know the real reason is that this little power play would effect the rest of the Marvel Universe. If there's a cure for cancer available then there would be no more cancer based storys. So you'd have to find some thing else to make a story on.

It was a foolish move on Hudlin's part. It makes T'Challa look like an ass. Especially in light of the Mar-vell thing.

What's so bad about Hudlin?

He's black 😐

Hmm... I imagine a super-contagious, genetically engineered strain of anticancer that gives everyone a Deadpool-like healing factor. A world of nigh invincible super criminals and overpopulation due to nobody dying.

Mass starvation . . . without any death . . .

no sex either . . .

Cannibalism and rape become the social norm.

Oh yes, we really need to worry about something like that falling into sinister hands...

Don't worry, he said canibalism and rape, not rape and canibalism. The order you do it is still okay.

nosweat I thought I was in trouble for a moment there.

Nothin Hudlin's great! I plan on using most of his work for the tourney. 😖hifty:

What exactly is a "separatist nation"? An autonomous sovereign nation seeking to be... more autonomous?

A nation that just wants to be an *******. (see US preWWII)

I think they meant isolationist.

The reasoning was probably "wanting to be seperate" not realizing that Seperatism involves wanting to be seperted from those that rule them.

Which may invite hard feelings.

Let's look at this from a "Hustler's" stand point:

You just came up. You've got the ultimate connect. The competition doesn't matter. You've got them beat in every way shape form and fashion: Quality, Quantity, Price. You can go anywhere and shut'em down. The people want what you've got. They need what you've got.

Let's say you go to another block, in another town. The people love you. You got what they want, and they respect you because of it.

But what about the people that were there before you? Do they love you? Do they respect you for what you've done?

Or are they jealous because you can give it the people and they can't?

Are they angry because you're "messin up the "Church's" money"?

Let's be honest, the Pharmaceutical industry is allot like the Drug Game, and Companies are allot like pushers. Their interests are also HEAVILY looked after by their respected governments.

The entire human genome sequence is available. As are available cDNA sequences. Available protein sequences. Available protein structures.

The presumably biochemical cure for cancer could easily be disseminated to the public as freely available information like this current information.

The notion of weaponizing a cure for cancer is frankly stupid. The notion of Big Pharma monopolizing a cure for cancer is redundant if the structure or formulation is made available to the public domain.

It was a throwaway line meant to make Black Panther look clever, and instead made him look like an arse.

Yup, sorta like him reading those pysichs books or however they were spell.

Him reading those complicated books was supposed to make him look smart... instead since he was on his honey moon with Ororo it makes him look like a dumbass.

Hudlin tries too hard. He uses lotsa of little gimmicks to make T'Challa look smart rather than actually having him do smart things.
