I thought it was pretty clear in DotNG #7. Metron mentions that he's unconscious as soon as the Source wall breaks, he doesn't recover until after both of them are dead and everyone is gone, and at the end he races off to confront DS for his crimes, never mentioning the Source.

NRAMA: Power-wise, Mike...you've been around the DCU for a while and know both characters really well - and aren't afraid to stir up debate. Who's tougher, Darkseid or Superman? There's always that feeling that, while Darkseid may have the edge in power, Superman always has something to fight for, rather than just more power and acquisition of territory, and that's what gives him the edge...MC: It’s not always about the power level itself... It’s about the motives and meanings when wielding said power. This is why Superman has won most confrontations with beings of all power-levels— both physical and mental. And Darkseid’s malevolent desires usually come with some flaw his arrogance misses. So I’d say it’s the arrogance-level that makes Darkseid less likely to triumph down through the years. The good guys usually win— until Final Crisis anyways— that’s “The Day Evil Won!” we hear.

I love what it must have been like at the DC writer's summit over a year ago....
Writers: "OK we've got this new idea for a weekly series that will tie into DC's next big event...."
Didio: "Whoa slow down, we are supposed to have a big event in a years time? But we haven't done several thousand inconsequential tie ins for the build up yet!!!!"
Writers: "Don't worry Dan we will throw the tie ins with the weekly, as for the event; we could either do something new and original.......or better yet we could have another crisis!!!"
Didio: "Brilliant!!!! I like your thinking...."
Writers: "As for the weekly I'm thinking we bring in some premier E-list characters, consisting of 2 flash villains (The clown and the gay one) some Gotham chicks, a character that has always been known to have an evil, sinister side (Mary Marvel of course) and throw some heroes in there!!!! Heck why don't we throw a prominent Green Lantern in with the heroes so it'll ruin the ending of another crossover (Sinestro corps war).... oh and not forgetting the big leagues....Atom and Jimmy Olsen!!!! Maybe to sweeten the deal we'll add Karate Kid for no reason.
Didio: "WOW where do you get this stuff from?????!!!"
Writers: "We were high."
Didio: "Sweet. So how will this all end up in year. What satisfying ending will you bring to a storyline that's probably a better read than all the Greek Epics combined??????"
Writers: "We were thinking....... Darkseid vs a a really big turtle....."
Didio: "................how big?"
