if we separate thanos feats with the gauntlet with the actual character. We won't see as vastly great feats from him in comparison to Darkseid. He jobs yes. he got his ass beat by darkseid. And Then By superman (Superman/Batman: Supergirl) But regardless Darkseid's accomplishments are just that much better than thanos.
Obviously his highly regarded feats with the IG will not match his feats without them, but here are just a few of his abilities:
Immortality - We will remove immortality since we dont know when this fight takes place and he may not be barred from Death's dimension at the time of this fight.
Invulnerablity - Around the same level or higher than Darkseid. Thanos was considered a "Cosmic Eternal"
He can has control over cosmic energies - Effectiveness of that vs Darkseid is unknown. It depends on if you consider Darkseids ranged attacks at the level of Cosmic or not.
Thanos can also raise his body armor to and beyond cosmic levels as well as detect and absorb ANY forms of energy.
He can Teleport as well as boost his physical attack damage and Strength to Comic and possibly beyond that to a degree.
Darkseid is an incredibly powerful being, possessing near godlike abilities. Essentially the only limit to Darkseid's abilities is his willpower. For example, he is capable of moving entire solar systems by force of will alone, but while doing so he would not have the focus to perform other acts.
Known Powers:
Omega Effect: a form of energy that he fires from his eyes. This effect is not only a relentless attack, but it is capable of teleporting the target to any location Darkseid chooses and recall them later or erase the target from the universe and similarly reform them. Darkseid has pinpoint control over his Omega Beams, and his unerring aim allows it to travel in straight lines or bend, twist or curve around corners. The Effect can travel across time and pass through different universes, and can pass through nearly any known barrier.
In the three part Hunter/Prey storyline, he claimed that no being had yet withstood the full force of the Omega Beam, but Doomsday nonetheless survived the attack.

Mind Control: ability to control the minds of others by sheer force of will. His ability to use this power is so great that he can dominate millions of beings all at once.

Molecular Dispersion: He is also able to dissipate and disperse the molecules of an object or organism, effectively erasing them from existence.
Avatar Creation: able to generate mental avatars
Psionic Possession: psychic abilities to possess an individual and negate any superhuman abilities they may have.
Energy Manipulation: can also mentally control most known forms of energy, allowing him to erect protective force fields and project withering energy bolts.
Teleportation
As an almost god-like being, Darkseid has several powers that surpass most other beings in the known universe.
Life Creation: He can create life and matter from nothing, as he did when he created the being known as Strayne,
Time Travel: can travel in time as easily as any New God.
Dimensional Teleportation: He can traverse different dimensions.
De-evolution: devolve living organisms.
Known Abilities: His genius surpasses that of most other known beings in the universe. He is a master planner and strategist and his armies are nearly unbeatable under his leadership

Thanos Jobbed with the IG, a brilliant plan to become most powerful that he actually pulled though with.

They are no where near equal at all. DS own creation Stayne could mop the floor with Thanos. And she is not as powerful as DS. DS also can swap around planets in the galaxy with his mind. he can depower abstracts like mordru with a thought and absorb thier power into his own. DS also kills pantheon's of Gods and adds thier might to his own.DS and Highfather rumbled the cosmos in one of thier great battles. DS was able to own earthy angel supergirl. They are not in the same league at all. DS can do with his omega what Thanos needs the reality gem.

point taken - Too bad this is offset by ludicrious jobbing.
In other words, DS would do something stupid or casually "forget" to use some of these and wind up losing vs Thanos.
Whats the point of awesome powers you fail to use effectively. Superman is also insanely guilty of this....which to me makes them of non-effect/nullified in any big scenario and weakens them to me in a fight.
In other words, Thanos does more with less "abilities" than DS ever has with "more". Thus Resourcefulness and Luck come into play.

There are better ways to decide a fight... and lets face it, this really has nothing to do with this thread.
Kirby is the King. Also Kirby was a better creator...so I could go on and on about Kirby...the point I made is clear.
I don't think anyone would put Captain America with Thanos. I'm certainly not arguing that...I'm arguing about Darkseid and Thanos.
To give a good idea of the might of Darkseid and which is relevant to the topic. In the Hunger, Galactus recognizes that Darkseid is indeed very powerful. When he asks him why did he send his vast army to the slaughter....Darkseid declared it was his evil nature..to which Galactus agrees and departs. So, you see Darkseid evil nature is a important element of the DCU.
To give you a hint of Darkseid...he cannot die. No matter who or what could kill him he would eventually by revive by the Source. He is a Uber god among gods.

Also, keep in mind Darkseid have unlimited resources to Apokolips Technology he can create greater mega cosmic weapons in mere seconds.
