Understood, But losing to lessers character on the regular still weakens him to me, and thats just my own scale of character potency. Characters lose big points in a versus match for jobbing too often.
Its almost like a character having a great feat by crushing Juggernaut's skull with their bare hands,....
then later on that day getting sucker punched and KO'd by Robin.
You just lose/counter the points you've gained, as well as applies weaknesses to that character, lessening their chances in a fight.

To give a good idea of the might of Darkseid and which is relevant to the topic. In the Hunger, Galactus recognizes that Darkseid is indeed very powerful. When he asks him why did he send his vast army to the slaughter....Darkseid declared it was his evil nature..to which Galactus agrees and departs. So, you see Darkseid evil nature is a important element of the DCU.
To give you a hint of Darkseid...he cannot die. No matter who or what could kill him he would eventually by revive by the Source. He is a Uber god among gods.

It just seemed that he was far above the Source in his series (well... the one page/issue).
Anyone above the Source could kill him.
Also, another thing that is completely off-topic... that Spectre fight, was exactly the reason why I don't feel that Superman is as important to the Source (mind you, I don't exactly remember this anyway... maybe it's just forum talk?).
Superman has died, and yet, Darkseid couldn't.
Plus... technically, Darkseid is the bigger jobber, since he is actually bigger than Thanos.

True, but Thanos was also barred from death and was in the same state as well, which is why when this fight takes place is important.
I also think Thanos will return in an even more powerful state.
Also you can lose a fight without having to die.

A good example of this is recently with Darkseid waving a hand and dispatching of Orion, Firestorm and Mister Miracle, all pretty rough and tough characters each... Orion often seen as Superman's equal or superior by many.. . . . until Supes stops holding back. Clark would have flown through the blast and chokeslammed him.

I think Thanos is naturally resistant to the effects of reality warping, it has a "minimal" effect on his being.
