Think about it; in DMC we saw Elizabeth and Will Not Getting Along. In the beginning of AWE, Will and Elizabeth will Still Not Be Getting Along. To play into this and reassure the audience to stay to the end of the film, they need to give us that kiss and almost kiss in the trailer, so people will think back and say, "Yes, it will work out between Will and Elizabeth."

Then, during the film, after Will and Elizabeth make up, get married, have their phenominal kiss, and the audience is just so filled with glee that FINALLY things have worked out for Will and Elizabeth...

Will gets mortally wounded.

And then every (or almost every 😛 ) person's heart in that audience will shatter, because THAT ISN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. It will shock, horrify and tear the audiences' hearts out all at the same time. That's what playing W/E up in the preview is really all about.

Or at least, that's my theory. Carry on!

Nah, not W/E. I'm a Norrington/Elizabeth shipper. TnT were even kind enough to throw me a small bone, at least in the novel. I'm so hopeful that it'll be in the film too. 😄

However, I DO support the W/E ship because they make a great couple and because they are the romantic couple of the series. It's all about their journey --both together as a pair and apart, as individuals -- and their struggle to find themselves and how to make a relationship work.

Or at least that's my opinion. 😉

I think they're aware that Will is probably on the most bashed on characters of the series (I don't understand why, but to each his or her own). They've called AWE Will's movie because we'll see him develop most as a character and I'm willing to wager that those people who weren't keen on his character before will LOVE him in the end. He'll be given a nearly impossible set of circumstances to deal with and we'll see how it is that he responds to the situation.

oh poo poo poo on the emotional heartbreak when Will fulfills the "touch of destiny" they have been overdramatically foreshadowing with star-wars-esque obviousness since moment 1 of film 1. Are Will and Liz going to get together?!?!?! watch me bite my nails and freak out, considering i already went through so much agony in the first film worrying about it, and after seeing the trailers of them making out in stormy weather, and magazine headlines entitled "here comes the bride" with pics of Liz... oh gee, see me worry about it!!! (can i make this sarcasm any more obvious? 😉)

Frankly, I'm not fussed. This movie is going to kick-ass, but between Will's annoyingly grim face (why cant he ever SMILE in these films?!) and Elizabeth's "grandma retired in Bocca" tan, I'm just not bothered to worry about their relationship.

by the way, my sarcasm is all typed with a smile on my face, so please dont be offended. i'm just amused at the turn this has all taken.

I think I've pinpointed why Liz is harsher looking here. It's the eyebrows. They're taking over her pretty face.

I think we all know how the story will end now. Elizabeth will give up her post as Pirate King to settle down on a golf course in Flordia to wear mumus, keds and play a mean round of Thursday night bingo.

Well, if I may change the subject of Elizabeth's eyebrows, I have a theory meself.

Will and Elizabeth character's have grown a lot and are the most that have grown and taken to that level. Elizabeth meets with Bootstrap. Elizabeth mentions on how she knows his son, Will Turner. Bootstrap got mega excited and immediately thought of his son, obviously, for his safety. After hearing that Will was safe, Bootstrap's eyes lit up thinking that Will sent her to send him the message that Will was on his way to rescue his father.

Elizabeth thought for a moment and felt horrible for him. Elizabeth knew that Will was thrown into the brig for being a traitor. So she just said, "Yes, he will come for you." But then Bootstrap got sad because he knows that she is Elizabeth Swann, the woman whom Will has spoken off. Bootstrap knows that if Will comes to rescue him that he will loose Elizabeth. Bootstrap gets really depressed and Elizabeth feels horrible for Will not to be with his father because of her.

This next scene is REALLY interesting. After all that jazz between Bootstrap and Lizzy, we move on to Jack and Will. Will is still intending to free his father. Jack explains to him clearly what happens if you are to stab the heart, Will sucks that in for a moment and they says, "I'm loosing her Jack. Every step I make for my father...is a step away from Elizabeth."

Will looks at Jack, and tells him in a low voice, "She was willing to do anything to save you."

Jack: "From the fate she consigned me."

Will: "She felt terrible about killing you."

Jack: "Yes, she's a prize, that one."

I find this to be very interesting that Will talked to Jack, the reason why Elizabeth made this journey, and that Elizabeth talked to Bootstrap, the reason why Will made this journey.

They both seem to understand their reason for their mission. The writers clarify that Elizabeth made her choice already in DMC. People jump that is to stay with Will. But they are missing the REAL ending. Tia Dalma asked each one of them, if they were willing to go to the end of the earth to get Jack Sparrow. The crew, no doubt, will say yes to get their captain back. With Will, his mission was to get Jack to get the pearl to rescue Bootstrap. Wow, I think I confused everyone hehe.

Elizabeth made a 'yes' to Tia's question. That 'yes' she was willing to do anything to bring Jack again.

Mmm, no.

Elizabeth is not horrified that she's stopping Will from saving his father. She's horrified because Bootstrap seems to be a lost cause, and everything that Will has done is basically for nothing.

Now she understands why Will wanted to save his father...she understands even more now, since she has lost her own father. I don't think she's ready to step aside. She's heartbroken for Will.

Will, on the other hand, is learning Elizabeth's reason for going after Jack. He thinks that Elizabeth loves Jack. Jack seems to know that this is not so. She went after him because she felt guilt, nothing more. It doesn't change how Jack feels, but the truth is that she has, and always, will love Will.

But you are right, Mina. Now Will and Elizabeth understand each other...which is what will bring them closer together when they are finally reunited. Kiss in the rain during a battle? Does that really look like they are giving up on each other? No.

The only way a J/E ending would work now is if Will releases Elizabeth and she is willing to give him up. I don't think that she will. As long as he is alive, she will do whatever is necessary to be with him. Elizabeth does not give in when she wants something. 😄

Edited to add: Oh, and Kate, when I was talking about W/E's relationship, I was NOT counting J/E shippers. 😛 I'm talking about the general audience, who do not get onto forums to discuss how hot their pairing is. 😉 Most of them expect a W/E ending, so the shattering moment of Will dying/nearly dying will be incredible for them. Hence the build-up in the previews of the W/E relationship. Gotta shock people. 😄

Elizabeth is vexed. She is not in love with Jack. She is one chapter behind 😄 😄

Well...goody for you girls and gentleman that you are still hashing over this movie..I will ship J/E forever....i just think, IMHO, that they are alot more exciting...they ignite the scene...i'm on the edge of my seat when they are in a scene together..and when Will is with liz..i'm just ho-hum about the whole ordeal..and even if it plays out as you say Surreal..i still can't believe that I will be caught up in a romantic w/e kiss..cuz I just don't get them as a couple, never have, never will..i didn't like them in POTC to be totally honest...but that's just me, I guess....

so, it's all downhill from here..won't be long until the premiere on May 19 and everyone will know it's outcome....

I keep telling my self it's only a movie....at times I wish I had never gotten so caught up in this...then I wouldn't know any spoilers and I could go watch the movie with a clear head....

but it was not to be...i got obsessed all because of "fate intervenes"...."a dress or nothing"..."as I said, Persuade Me"..."we are very much alike you and i, i you, us."..."one word, luv, curiosity"..."you're going to want to know what it tastes like"..."you came back, I always knew you were a good man"..."Pirate"...

andI could not resist coming here and to KTTC and anywhere ...including reading leaked scripts and ultimately buying the novelization and studying it from page to page.....just looking for clues, hints, anything to let me know all was well in jack sparrow's world....

Jack is all I care about...really and truly...I just care about Jack and how he ends....because after all....Jack Sparrow is Pirates of the Caribbean....

^^^re-reading my posts....I'm still positive how i think this will end...when I say it's all downhill..i meant that we are on the downside of approaching the movie's release...there's not too many more spoilers that can tell us...i think we already have all the spoilers...it's just up to us in our own hearts and minds to figure out how we think it may end..then be either pleasantly pleased or unbelievably shocked...

Well, as much as I love Jack and Liz together, and as much as they give me shivers everytime they are on screen together, I now find myself at a point of almost near neutrality, shipping-wise. I appreciate Will a lot more now, as much as I did after the first movie. He is a great character. Sure, Jack and Lizzie are red hot when they are together, there is an undeniable passion and excitment, but there is something nice about Will and Liz too. It's a different kind of love, but it is still powerful. Liz means so much to Will, she is his whole reason, besides his father. I am still leaning a tad towards J/E, I still love them, but I will be truly sad if Will loses her. He has come all this way. On the other hand, if Jack loses Lizzie, I will be a little upset, but I'm certain that there will be no shortage of JE moments. JE will not die just because they are not together. As long as the trio ends up friends I'm happy. The most tragic thing that could happen is that the trio is not together at the end. That's what would ruin the movie for me. Blech. I'm sick of shipping J/E or W/E. I'm shipping PO/TC from now on.

Well whatever the outcome is we have to remember its been a Long road and its almost near it's end now!!! 26 more days til the movie and 20 more days til the Premiere...WoW!!!!

We have to all stcik together whatever ship we may support....because in the end it's the Same movie we all know and LOVE!!!!

I love SPARRABETH and i will go down with it if i have too!! Thats where my Heart Truley lies!! And Lovethemtigers i love ur sum up of their Love Story useing all the those lines....chills I tell ya!!
