Putting it all together...spoilers

For sure, I've always thought that was the underlying theme of their relationship; it's like a chess game that starts all the way back when he first used her as a means of escape in COTBP. With the final check mate being when Elizabeth chains him to the mast. But there are little things in the Persuade me sequence that are important too. Like the way that he sort of surrenders himself when she leans over his shoulder. He looks like he looses all of his strength before he remembers where he is.

Also, in the events leading up to the Persuade me scene, Jack grabs his Pirate brand when they're speaking about Beckett. He looks genuinely pained. It's a subtle moment, but I think it speaks volumes about the magnitude of Beckett's threat. It's like he has a war wound.

There's more. Care to know?

Hmmmm, let me think........

YES!

By the way, for those of you in the US on the pacific coast, COTBP is on t.v.

i know i am watching it!!!!

of couse we would want more!!!!!

oh, yeah! tee hee.

Um, where should I start?

Um, Beckett never mentions fate intervenes.

"¿...Me atrevo a pensar que piensa negociar personalmente con Jack Sparow?"

Translation: I believe that you would want to personally negotiate with Jack Sparrow.

And Will never mentions more aquaintances than friends. Actually I don't see Will and Liz even a bit close.

Good eye! I believe you completely, but do you have a picture of that? I would just like to see it. I would classify it as a war wound, too. Imagine the pain of it.

I don't! I don't know how to do screen captures, but I'll look around and see what I can find.

Oh, I got a pic on that, willo. And I got more info about the comic. It's really, really interesting.

Yay! Post them either here or on stuff you may have missed. I like keeping that one alive.

There are more things about the comic. Problem is that my printer has a different way of scanning. Since it's a comic, I'm trying to see if I can scan it.

But if you people are still interested in what it says..?

Ummmmm, yeah. I'm interested in their interpretation! Comic or not!

Here's the pic, by the way on what I think you were talking about.

Yes! That's the one. Notice that Jack attempts to hide his pain from Elizabeth. Part of his distraction away from that pain is to immediately come at her with the questions about how she managed to get the papers away from Beckett. He admires her for that because Beckett is a cunning adversary.

Also, a word or two about the fate intervenes line. It's important yes, but in a different way we were thinking. One of the writers said that Beckett is like Jack. He listens, and tries to decide what he can use to manipulate his opponent. His needling her about Jack is his way of trying to decide whether or not he can use her against Jack at a later time.

Exactly. So the suppose spoiler on Jack saving Liz from Beckett from getting branded is making sense.

yay i am getting it that is a great observation!!!

It's possible that he does. Do any of you know where that rumor got started? I'm not discounting it; the pirate brand has to end up on Jack's bandana some how. But I can't quite place where they would manage to fit all of that into the story. The way that scene is set up, Beckett must realize that Elizabeth is of some importance to Jack. Also, when Jack negociates to take Beckett to Shipwreck Cove, he asks him about Elizabeth.

I don't have the scene I don't think, but it's there.

Screw it, I don't care anymore:

591 INT. ENDEAVOUR _ CAPTAIN'S CABIN - DAY

Jack has been escorted into the room. Beckett signals his guards to leave without turning. He stands at the window, peering out at the Black Pearl. Jack's efforts are on the table -- including the Compass.

BECKETT
Remarkable. When last I saw that ship, it was on fire sinking beneath the waves. I fully excepted that to be .. the last I saw of it.

THROUGHOUT THIS, Jack is surreptitiously searching the office, peeking into cabinets, boxes, etc.

JACK
Close your eyes and pretend it's all a bad dream. That's how I get by.

BECKETT
You can stop searching, Jack. It's not here.

Jack freezes, daintily replaces the lid on a jar.

JACK
It being what?

Beckett turns from the window.

BECKETT
Understand what it is a man wants, and no amount of knavery and machination makes him any less predictable. The heart of Davy Jones. It's not here. It's safely ensconced aboard the Flying Dutchman, and so unavailable for use as leverage to satisfy your debt to the good captain.

Jack reacts to the news the heart is aboard the Dutchman. Beckett takes it to mean he's scored a point.

JACK
By my reckoning, that account's been settled.

BECKETT
By your death. And yet, here you are.

Jack verges on protest -- eh, he's right. Concedes the point.

JACK
Yes, here I am. Painfully aware I am, in fact. Why am I?

Beckett holds up the Compass.

BECKETT
You've brought me this. I owe you a pardon and a commission. So I am offering you a job. In the employ of the East India Trading Company. Working for me.

591 Int. Endevour - captain's Cabin - Day (cont'd)

JACK
We've been down that road before haven't we? and we both know how you get when your advances are spurned.

He displays the brand on his wrist.

BECKETT
I had contacted you to deliver cargo on my behalf. you chose to liberate it.

JACK
People arn't cargo, mate.

BECKETT
You haven't changed. Our busness is concluded. Enjoy the gallows.

JACK
I've been. once you’ve taken in the view, there's not much else to it. but the fact is I have changed. If you'll entertain for a moment a counter-proposal.

Jack produces his piece of eight, rolls it enticeingly between his fingers.

JACK
The brethren court.

Beckett produces his piece of eight, does the same.

BECKETT
I am already aware of the brethren court, and that it is meeting.

JACK
But you don't know where, do you? I do. That’s the offer on the table. you square things with Jones on my behalf, assure me of my freedom, and in exchange, i will lead you to ship wreck cove and deliver up all the pirates on a silver platter.

593 Int. Endeavour - Captain's Cabin - Day

JACK
You can have barbossa. the belligerent homunculus and his friend with the wooden eye, both and turner. Especially Turner.

Beckett notes that suspicion behind his eyes.

BECKETT
And what becomes of Miss Swann?

JACK
The rest go with me aboard the pearl, and i will lead you to shipwreck cove. Do we have an accord?

Jack extends his hand. Beckett smiles at it.

BECKETT
Jack, remember I have this wonderful compass that points to whatever I want.

JACK
Points to what you want MOST and that’s not the brethren court is it???

BECKETT
No?? Then what is, Jack?

JACK
Me (long beat) dead...

He gestures to the compass.

JACK (cont.)
Try it.

Beckett opens the compass, from his reaction, it points to Jack. Jack scuttles sideways, from beckett’s reaction, the needle follows him.

Bless you! That's freaking awesome

😄 That could explain the look Liz gives to Jack from the clip that was showed a while ago in Disney Channel.

She looks pissed.

oooo

this is cool

very cool...

how the heck are they gonna fit everything into this movie.. its crazy...
