"But the thing is, is did Jack really choose to become a pirate, or was that path chosen for him by Beckett? Remember after freeing the slaves, Beckett had his ship burned and branded him a Pirate, leaving him no choice. I wonder what else is in Beckett's and Jack's past...I think it goes deeper than that....what If Beckett and Jack are brothers, and Beckett was always jealous of Jack, perhaps their father showed favoritism toward jack....but if not a brother, than a cousin or something. I just really think there is more to the story. Just a random thought I had."----lovethemtigers
Like Kate said, I don't think Jack would have embraced the pirate life as much as he did if he didn't really want to be one. Maybe if you go back far enough, he was a little kid that always wanted to be a pirate but joined up with the EITC because it was the closest thing he could do. And then Beckett gave him the shove.
I don't think they're related and I don't think it was a woman that broke them up. Not that I'm calling Beckett gay, but he doesn't seem like women interest him that much. They aren't a part of his huge plan, and he just doesn't seem like the jilted lover. Plus, Jack didn't get a reputation for being a womanizer until he was actually a pirate (at least I don't think so!) so I doubt he had the same habits with women as he did before he became a pirate.
Because Jack believes that there is such thing as a good man good pirate. And when someone brings it up, mostly Elizabeth, he is like "no, I'm not!" And tries to do "evil" things when in truth he can't do it by heart. He can't help himself to be a good, honest man. And they know that side of him and they want to take advantage of it.
Jack is more like a frustrating pirate.
I think one of Jack's character traits is that he HATES being beaten at his own game. Whenever someone outwits him, he is very quick to return the slight. Look at what he does after Elizabeth burns the rum. He has her locked up on the Dauntless to get back at her.
I would surmise that his relationship to Barbossa is very similar; look at the scene in COTBP where they're negociating the best way for Jack to give Barbossa the name of Bootstrap Bill's only child.
There are very few characters who are capable of outwitting Jack. I would surmise that the four people in Chiki's signature are probably the only ones who are capable of it.

And James. He can reduce Jack to such little insults as "You smell funny," plus he managed to steal the papers and the heart. 😄 James learned from his first few encounters with Jack, it seems. 😄

lol, thank for your compliments on the siggy lol. I'm still working on yours, don't think I forgot about it 😉.Then Jack will get back at everybody in AWE. I think the most he wants to get back at is Elizabeth. Mostly because she wanted to see his good side, now she will see his dark side.
I think he wants to get back at all of them. Yes, he wants to get back at Elizabeth, but her betrayal is like the straw that breaks the camel's back. By the time we see him rescued in purgatory, he realizes that none of his so-called-friends are there to rescue him because they miss him as a person. They're all using him for their own selfish desires.
(Which, actually, seems a bit hypocritical of Jack, since that is how most of his interactions with people seem to have run in the past). He can dish it but he can't necessarily take it.
They've abused his good nature, so his only answer is to repay the slight with one of his own. He's sort of like a wounded animal lashing out. But I don't think he'll anticipate the consequences of his actions until he sees the damage it does in the final battle.
And I know Teague will come also.
I really want to see eveyone's frustrations in this movie. Especially Jack's and of course Will's. But mostly Jack because he had the last straw with Eilzabeth. So how would Jack repay thme? What will he do each one of them? Will he betray them all at the same time, or does he have a plan to betray each one of them?
Ok, well, it's the DMC comic. I have in spanish so I'm going to translate.
I mentioned in the "Things you may have not noticed" thread about the persuade me scene.
Jack and Elizabeth are alone in his cabin. Jack says "persuade me" and he is holding Elizabeth and they both are very close into a kiss. More than the curiosity scene. But little did they know that James was right outside listening to the whole thing.
Norrington anticipa el gusto de ver a Elizabeth abofetear al pirata, pero sucede algo muy diferente..
Translation: James was anticipated in watching Liz slap the pirate(Jack), but something different happens. In other words, James was surprised that Liz did not slap Jack in saying such thing.
Then we see Liz coming out from his cabin and James says the exact lines from DMC and Liz lines the same as DMC also. Oh, it was at night.
